Always take a shovel at this time of year , as well as some old carpet to shove under the wheels if you get stuck , some warm clothes , and a hot drink...just in case you get stuck anywhere...

I would love to have a sled and a team of dogs , but i am afraid i don,t know the first thing about operating such transport....
Perhaps when i move to Russia i can have a try at this...i had a go in a sled pulled by a horse a few years ago...that was fun....

I was born in 1953 , and as a child living on the north east coast of Yorkshire i can remember having snow drifts coming up to the top of the front door , and helicopters taking supplies to small villages cut off by road....
You don,t get winters like that any more in the UK...
Now it seems that half an inch of snow is enough to cause a disaster , each year we have a new generation of drivers that just don,t know how to drive on snow...
Winter tyres are all very well , but they don,t help much if you don,t have a clue how to drive on slippery surfaces.... I am fortunate that i have spent quite a few years on the race track where power sliding into corners teaches you all you need to know about skid control . and i have quite a lot of experiance of driving off road too on tricky surfaces , a bit of snow for me is good fun....
And don,t think having a 4 x 4 will get you out of trouble if you can,t drive... a 4 x 4 is bigger and heavier than a normal car , and if you get into a skid with one it will slide faster and further than a normal car , and probably won,t stop untill you hit something...!
I used to think that learning skid control should be part of the driving test , but i suspect it would just encourage young drivers to drive like rally drivers on public roads...

Put your thermals on... might be a bit chilly at night in the springtime...but you will love the Polish countryside , the total lack of no bikers signs , and the welcome you will get at every place , no matter how posh it is....
The beer is cheap and nice , the women pretty , and many of the rural roads deserted , its great biking country.....
Watch out though...crazy buggers drive on the wrong side of the road...

A few years back , my girlfriend who is a teacher in Moscow took a group of kids to the theatre , it was minus 40 , but not one of the kids failed to show for the concert...
Jeez , in the UK the parents would have sued her for attempted murder....

Of course in the UK there is the usual disaster as half an inch of snow falls , the schools close , and the traffic grinds to a halt....

Its a form of amnesia i guess , like when people are involved in a traumatic accident....the brain can,t cope with the event , so simply erases all memory of it....
If you can,t get her to a doctor , then maybe you need to talk to one to find out best how to help her...?

I am not an expert in mental health , but i can tell you two things... First of all its normal to go through a period of denial after a loss such as this , secondly , its not normal to take the denial to this level , or to carry it on for this length of time...

Its a good offer...might be a bit of a challenge to find room for everybody , but i like a challenge... When i first go to Moscow i shall be living in an appartment with my lady , not far from the center , but once we get sorted we will have a flat in Moscow , one in St Petersburg , and a house in the country somewhere in between....Bikers , especially friends..will be welcome...
There are one or two documents to sort out before then..the Russian love to have documents about everything...We plan to marry in Moscow in May , thats if i can get the documents i need from the UK office that does not answer any of the five emails i sent them...

I haven,t even thought how i am gonna get the sporty over to Moscow...The guy and his wife who are buying my place did suggest riding it over and getting the train back to Poland , they are good friends and i trust them...The guy has his own Harley , built in 1914 , and lots of other classic bikes both British and Polish....
If i can raise some cash , i may get a van and try to take all my crap in one go...would need to be a big one though...!
