What "awful consequences"?

Okay...for Germans it was the "greatest thing ever", but what about them Jews or Poles or Russians?

They even made a movie about how losing a war with the US is absolutely wonderful

Which was that?

The Hitler period simply has to be presented to a new generation in a manner that's relevant to THEIR experience....

In my opinion not the ugliness, the horrible consequences, the shame should be teached in the schools in the first place but the seduction, the nice, warm and cuddly feelings, the superficial logic, in short about the unbelievable power these thoughts and politics gained over so many people.

Children learning and understanding THAT plus of course the awful consequences would much better inoculate them against any other "Rattenfänger" with similiar methods today, I think...

Nah!

People are so busy with looking out for the next white man with parted hair and a moustache that they have become ignorant of the real dangers coming up right beside them.

I see a situation much more comparable with the last ten years of the GDR than with Weimar...

I even agree with Gauland...the 12 years of madness during the Third Reich have never been all of our 2000 years of history. What we today see is that the concentration on these years by politics and media is totally not helping at all to counter the modern problems.

She acted decisively here and didn't waffle or make excuses!

She has become a weak joke. If she really thinks her "spy master" has made a grave error she should have shown strength and dismissed him. But what did she do? She advanced him into a higher position with more pay. The whole country is (after your political leaning and sympathy) laughing and mocking or frothing and ranting. The rest is shaking their heads with confusion...

That could be very well the death of the current coalition....

PS: Where did you get your Germany news from Lyzko? Your information was all wrong...

that the Third Reich was not as significant as history has made it out to be.

Are you sure? This remark stems actually from AfD chef Gauland ("Vogelschiss"), not from "spy master" Maaßen...

Well, the stupidity would lie in not placing a cap of some kind on numbers. It has to be capped somewhere.

Good sound common sense!

A common sense many german politicians from the left till to the center are lacking. They still avoid to put an official cap on it...keeps the AfD happy!

Their argument being that even #601 can't be turned back if he/she/it demands asylum, so why put a number on it in the first place...all hail "THE LAW".

When the work is done, let labor stay where it is - at home.

You are right. To import cheap workforce for the most menial tasks / for demographic reasons does not help with the digital future of our economies nor with the sinking population of our future societies.

The future economies will have their hands full with integrating those parts of the native population which will have problems to find their place in this highly automatized, digitalized world. It is madness to keep importing these problems.

There will be no need to import people for work or to fill out the towns again...

The law of asylum should be cut down to it's bare roots again. Only refugees fleeing from war and oppression, and only as long as needed. Not this kind of hidden immigration!

....the last time Germany paid and awarded women for having more and more babies was during the Third Reich, as Hitler needed soldiers for his armies.

No surprise here. Germany has been trying for years to boost birth rates with similar measures, it doesn't make much of a difference.

The future of the world doesn't lie in ever growing numbers of humans.....breeding like rabbits won't secure our future (just ask Africa).

Here I disagree....it seems to be very well with the consent of the people. Just think a minute about it. People make their choices with their feet, a true saying, not only for the poor and opressed but also for the rich and privileged.

When big parts of the youth in the West can't wait to pack their bags and leave their villages and towns to join a multi-cultural, multi-ethnical moloch then that is a choice, then that is a consent.

These mega cities are growing, that is a fact...also a fact is that our native still mostly white, cultural traditional land is dying out slowly (at least in Germany but I doubt that is only a german phenomenon)...one hasn't to like or understand it, but I think the youth makes their choice, that changing our societies towards a multi-ethnical one happens not only with their consent but with their support.

It is hard to find a different interpretation for that development...

(I start to think of the backyard of the building mega cities as some kind of reservation for the natives:)

You cannot use capital cities like London and Paris to judge the rest of the country. They are different worlds.

I think that counts for the whole West...there are the growing mega cities, bursting with people from all over the world...and then there are the whole rest, still relatively homogenous native.

But a flourishing tourism industry is still good for business. And the human effect isn't to overestimate either. Every tourist to Poland brings back impressions, knowledge, stories and images, put's Poland "on the map", connects it to the rest of Europe in a way politics only find it hard to achieve.

It is a golden opportunity for Poland to start building modern senior citizen compounds to care for these foreigner seniors.

It really would be....

German seniors look already to Croatia and even Bulgaria...Poland would be so much better. Much closer and not so hot in the summer like Spain, till now the most favourite residence place for european oldies.

Genealogy / Slavs are descendants of Sarmatians? [600]

If old Sarmatians (Slavs) were united around charismatic and prosperous leader, Europe could be now one state

Does that mean Sarmatians were neither united, nor charismatic nor prosperous?

How the future develops tomorrow will be decided by the youth, not by us. And they are already growing up in a different world than us...for them the change won't be so catastrophic or dramatic or threatening.

...okay now you have me puzzled again! :)

What are you meaning by that? Another drastically change of Germany because of another holocaust and a total destruction and occupation as consequence of another lost war?

No, you didn't cause offense....

Germany changed so much during the centuries, last time 1989...another change, maybe a regionalizaton inside the EU, could be on the table for the future.

Change doesn't have to be bad.

Life / Why Polish people are fat ? [81]

Right after you guys understand that America is not just one time zone, we have six time zones.

That's why I try to introduce the name "USians" to not lump the US citizens together with Canadians or Mexicans or the rest of America....it's hard though but it would be a start...

"EUians" would be a good differentiation too...

I am more concerned over the fate of the Union than about Merkel.

I'm not! I gave up on the CDU...they made their bed with supporting Merkels move to the left in turn for power now let them sink...

That split would be a logical consequence though...with a CSU then being downgraded to a regional party, with a CDU following the SPD down in the numbers, with the AfD waiting to fill that vacuum on the right, becoming a strong regional party in the East...that would be the end of the political stability of after-war Germany.

*grantels*

PS: Of course the CSU could find a new sister party in the AfD...I wonder how Germany will look like in 10 years from now on...

If she would do something at least...it would be a good start. I think she is already bored to death by her job...

....imagine this gov coalition breaks down over Maaßen....will she return for a new election?

Did you read that?

"Yes, there are, for example, young Palestinian men who have been brought up, who have been educated, with a deep-rooted antisemitism."

Schulz argued that they need to understand that Germany supports Israel.

That is actually a real problem and his position on that is to be supported.

Remember that bruhaha about that young syrian refugee a few months back who attacked someone with a Kippa with his belt in broad daylight in Berlin? We can't allow that...

That is the original quote:

They shouldn't be allowed to live here when they want to bring their wars with them...I agree!

The exact quote is : "For me, the new Germany exists only in order to ensure the existence of the State of Israel and the Jewish people"

Really? That is news to me...do you have a link?

Here it is:

That standing ovation were so embarassing to me too...I waited for the rythmic clapping known from the Volkskammer. Sometimes they just go overboard, it's not a pretty picture and so useless in their fight against the AfD...do they really believe they just did their cause a favour with that???
