Life / The Polish people have a strange attitude to cats and dogs? [84]

Nothing's gonna ever replace her, that's obvious. Mine does the same thing, she sleeps with me all the time. Actually, she even saved our lives, she woke us up when someone was trying to entry the house while we were sleeping so we owe her a lot.

no I think people in United states have strange attitude

Well, you'll find animal abusers pretty much anywhere you go but there's something else I'd like to ask you Marek, you seem to be very negative toward the country you live in. Why do you suffer so much? I bet Poland will appreciate a patriot like you to come back and constructively help your motherland on its way to become more successful. Nothing to insult you, just a suggestion.

but for them it's normal and unless the dog get shelter, food and water nothing bad.

Put yourself on a 2m chain, I bet you'll enjoy it.
Hey, people are people, some pamper their pets, some don't care about them at all or not enough. Not everyone has to love animals but if you don't like them, don't have them to begin with.

News / Why is Poland developing so slowly or in the wrong direction? Who is responsible ? [317]

you cannot start to discuss this topic if you do not understand or know Polish history.

How do you determine that I don't know it?
Besides, the topic is really about the recent events in Poland (let's say since 1989) even though I agree with you that the further history of Poland also plays a role in the way Poles approach certain things today. For example, what's really obvious, you guys are very pessimistic due to the negative events in your history in the past centuries and this is something you definitely have to work on because it will be hard for you to move forward if you don't.

and it is too slow for you

It's not too slow for me, it's too slow for the most of you guys.

I mean, working people will always be the last group to recieve the benefits, and when they do, it's going to be the minimum

Absolutely right. It sounds kinda tough but following your correct statement, Poles will have to wait quite a while until they'll feel anything at all. I purposely don't put any numbers here because it would probably sound very discouraging for Poles.

So much cr*p in one thread.

Poland has one of the fastest growing BNP in the EU.

Is it crap to say that Polish people don't feel much of this "fastest growing BNP in the EU"?

i tend to agree with your friends.

I mean, for real, what's great about all these achievements if people don't feel any positive outcome of it? It's very sad but true.

Do you not think that there has been a positive difference to the average Pole over the past 6 years?

I'm most likely not the right person to answer this question but alone creating this thread, iron kinda did. All I can tell you is that most of my friends in Poland are not very satisfied with the changes in Poland. All I hear is,"they keep talking about our great economy but we still make the same money" etc.

I beg to differ, Poland was shooting up the ranks before the recession.

Well, ask Polish people how much impact the ranks have or had on their daily lives and this is probably the most important thing to Polish people.

I fully agree with you when it comes to the statistics, everything looks great on paper but as long as Poles don't feel it, it's all rather a "breadless art".

the EU is full of arrogant players that don't want to see Poland as a leading force

I personally don't see Poland as a leading force in the EU yet whatsoever. I also wouldn't put it necessarily as "arrogant" players. I think it's more like a lack of faith in Poland as one of the leading forces due to the historical past of Poland.

Poland is known for its good soldiers and pretty women (which that is obviously a matter of taste) but not for its politics, economy and leadership qualities and that is kinda bone breaker here.

Nobody can develop quickly in this climate.

true but Poland wasn't really progressing fast before either and that's what iron meant (I guess)

Do you really believe that some theoretical stuff from uni make that much of the difference ?

Agree again with you iron :-) and this is exactly the difference in our education systems, less general knowledge but a well directed knowledge which helps later on to make a difference where it's needed.

Work / I'M SO SURPRISED BY THIS SALARY FOR IBM in WROCLAW 3000 ZL gross [135]

Personally, 4-5000zl net in PL would be comfortable but not rich. Living in one's own country on low wages is bad enough - living abroad and having to scrimp must be very demotivating.

Smart comment. Fully agree with you here.

Turn your question to the ones who are running the 'show'. EU and US&A

Are you seriously saying that the relatively slow progress in Poland is our fault? lol

there is potential here

of course there's a lot of potential but it doesn't mean that it's being used like it could be used to speed up the progress.

Yep, it almost looks like it. I personally believe that it all starts with the difference in education systems. In Poland for example, people learn much more about History and Geography but don't concentrate enough on economy, politics etc. It makes them obviously sound better educated but when it comes to making their country internationally more successful, something is simply missing. I absolutely don't mean to insult anyone of you but your success as a country unfortunitely doesn't depend much on your knowledge of the above mentioned topics.

Of course it's great to know it but most likely it's not helping you much to progress as a economical power.

Like for instance, why is Poland getting worse? Explain

I wouldn't necessarily say it's getting worse but somehow it's not getting really much better either. I'm a little amazed because a country with so many intelligent people, should be actually progressing much faster. In this case I share ironside's opinion and also wonder what's really going wrong there.

that's being spoiled...

No it's not. We just live different life than you guys, that's it.

you expect more in other country

Who said that? I only said that according to our standards, one needs at least 4000pln to live normal, to be able to pay all the bills on time, go on vacation, go out with friends once or twice a week. I don't see this as luxury, do you?

News / U.S. role in Poland is shrinking [82]

Just about any social and economic statistic you pull out on that 'mess over there' as you refer to it, consisting of Nordic countries, Benelux, Switzerland and Germany shows these countries to be way ahead of USA.

Well, I have to say that you definitely haven't lived in the US because we have all kinds of help for people in need here. The problem is that many of them don't know where to get this help.

I lived in Germany (my granny still does) too and I can assure you that in some ways a needy person gets even more help here than in Germany. In the US (depends on state) a needy gets some cash, food stamps and food from all kinds of charity organizations. They also take care of your power and water bill. I know it because I'm currently driving my 73 yrs old neighbor to exactly this kind of places so I'm not fantasizing here.

As far as economy, everyone is in trouble right now, not just us.
Besides, statistics don't always show the real situation in a country. Just look at the median income in Poland, it is way lower in reality than on paper.

Kind of, but it's probably more like "man"

I only asked because I'm a female :-)

Not to me mate

Just tell me something, when you say "mate", is it the same like when we say "you guys"?
I mean, does it work for both genders?

Obama is hardly a "radical leftist" ?! Maybe to republicans I suppose.

Well, however you put it but he's not a great president.

Maybe to Europeans "I suppose" :-)
