Life / How Long Before Poland Has Its 'Dumbest Generation'? [84]

D/M at a hospice

I dont know how you could do that.
I've had some personal experience with these and some bad feelings as a result. Man you must have nerves of steel. It must be hard not to take it home with you.

I hate that part of the job.

That would be a bummer, they keep trying to promote me at work but I always trade time for money. I have too much going on to take responsibility for anything.

One of my friends is a Psy Nurse and I know its not easy.

Psychology is not a hard science.

Ranking people on the basis of an unscientific test is beyond stupid. You would probably get better predictions from reading the shoulder bone of an ox.

Love / 'Battered husbands' - still a taboo subject in Poland [387]

I know very well how Zimmy posts, I know that his definition of "fact" is unique.
Basically he is economical with the truth and dazzled by shiny things usually found in crank sites.

Zimmy
Hypocrisy in full flow, just a few posts later here you are with your "shaming language" again.
You have not "presented" anything, you have posted...another example of boorish ignorance.

honest discourse

Does not consist of posting skewed nonsense from dubious sources and ignoring everything that challenges your bitter pose.

'shaming language'

How dare you attempt to take any high moral ground. You use so called "shaming language" as and when you see fit yet feign outrage when you are not in control of it.

In a similar way, you have dominated any discussion about mens rights by dragging them down to your own bitter finger pointing level.

In short Zimmy your hypocrisy and arrogant posing have stopped many from posting in these threads....that is called a pyrrhic victory.

Congratulations you are the winner.

Love / Are Polish and Slavic men perhaps a little bit insecure sometimes? [113]

Florence King is a monarchist, an elitist. You know who they are, the same ones who marched through Poland in the 1940's.

Don't confuse Rednecks with elitist. Rednecks are working class Southerners and are not elitists.

Clearly you have never read Ms King and her description of the South either.

Clearly you would like to argue about something I or Ms King didnt say.

Clearly you’re like a fish typing from its own barrel :)

COMPARING WITHIN A CULTURE HE STEMS FROM AND WITH PEOPLE OF HIS AGE. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF IQ.

I agree with the point you are making but would also go a step further and say that IQ tests only measure your ability to complete IQ tests. ie they measure nothing significant.

If they were measuring intelligence why does IQ get recalibrated every decade or so.

Edit: If they (the tests) are measuring intelligence how is it that the same individual gets improved results with practice.

Too difficult?

Yes. May I ask is there a maritime theme there?

Next:
What?

Initially I thought it was an animal fleece map which would be good but now I think it may be an animal (Bison) shedding its winter coat

It is highly Lib PC hypocritical to toss around the derogatory term "redneck" ('hick', 'white trash', et al) and then turn around and rip someone for using terms such as "n*gger"...

You have clearly never read anything by Florence King.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_King

She explains at length the southern (those below the Smith & Wesson line) psyche.

As an example of the manners taught to her by her grandmother, she wrote: "No matter which sex I went to bed with, I never smoked on the street." (from Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady, 1985)

Or are some of these things simply the result of kids growing up with push-button technology in an era when mechanical devices are gradually being replaced by electronics?

I've just come in after making some barrels and a bolt of felt ;)

Things move on, develop, evolve, I wouldn't worry too much.

There are things I miss that my kids are not in the slightest bit interested in.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

I drink every day

Drink should be part of your diet.....that is important. Most Europeans understand that alcohol is part of adult life.

Life / Let`s compare prices of services and products in Poland [359]

a pair of Levis here would be about 260 zł (€65).

Get the bus to Newry and save about £10 per pair.
In general the Free state is more expensive than the rest of Ireland. When we go to Donegal about 5 times a year we bring all our food and drink with us. The bar prices are crazy €4 a pint, no one can afford that. A round with crisps and coke for the kids costs the same as an Ibiza.

I checked this morning and David is correct, about £250-£300.

There has been a dramatic increase in cinema tickets both here and in Ireland.
Are you talking about one of those new fandangled multiplex type places in the city?

That is the average price for a typical multiplex in the city or out in the sticks. They do deals during the week, weekends more expensive.

We might need to name the vodka

You can buy cheap vodka in supermarkets but branded stuff like Absolute/smirnoff etc is about £15. My local offie sells Zubrowka at about £18 per 500cc.

You get a six pack for 3/350 in a supermarket?

Its one of the things here Supermarket beer is very cheap its usually sold in cases of 24 and there is always something on offer.

I hear that clothes are the same price as in the west, is this true?

With cigarettes and spirits there is the black market which does a roaring trade. There was even a brand of vodka..basically a diluted grain spirit called Vodski. This illegal stuff seems to have taken over from poteen in the towns.

UK, Ireland / Ed Miliband, new Labour leader, talking about Polish immigrants yesterday [62]

I'm not anti-Polish but they came here and reduced living standards by undercutting wage rates.

No he didnt, He did say that (people complained to him using these words )"I'm not prejudiced against Polish but they are driving down my wages and conditions"

What he did say was that he was in favour of free movement of labour within Europe so that British people can work abroad. He went on to say that the policy of a flexible labour market which seemed(in his constituents minds) to drive down wages should be addressed, and then a load of marketing speak that meant nothing.

He never once mentioned Stalinism, used "Polish people as a scapegoat", or advocated the destruction of western society.

In this thread we have had Islam, Bangladeshi, Somali and Pakistani immigrants mentioned the Jewish-Bolshevik red herring and who knows what is to come.

Is it possible to have a nutters corner?

Life / The "Rudification" Of Society - Is This Happening In Poland As Well? [146]

Big government is an analogy for central government

Big Government is used in a scatter gun approach to political debate never focused just like the word liberal.

What free market?

My point is its another thing that doesnt exist yet is held dear in the hearts of many.
