Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

unless she claimed abuse of whatever kind as the reason for "escaping"?

Not if the court order states that the child should have visitations with either parent and if one parent doesn't follow the court order, then it's contemp of court and the other parent will be liable and could get arrested.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

I am now pretty sure i am going to stay in London and file for a divorce here

You have to get a divorce in the country you were married in. You can do it in Poland, but all paperwork has to be sent to UK.

Po polsku / Oda do Marysi [54]

Ja jestem gościem tego forumu a ty jesteś jego moderatorem

Wszyscy jestemy tu goscmi a dobry, sprawiedliwy moderator powinien byc bez trzymania strony jednej osoby wobec drugiej.

USA, Canada / U.S. Citizen to Study in Poland on U.S. Passport for Over 3 Months? Problems? [46]

Doesn't have to be - the law makes it clear that citizenship is passed on regardless of any documents.

But he still has to be "zameldowany" in Poland and his birth has to be registered and that takes months before you can get a Polish passport. It's illegal to have two citizenships in Poland.

Travel / NOT COMING TO KRAKOW- KEEP IT! [30]

Bobby, the few disgruntled people on here do not represent everybody. They have no life, nothing better to do than fight and argue. Please visit Krakow, you will be surprised how beautiful it is.

yes krakow can be a dumping ground for the lowest forms of english who go there

And England is the dumping ground for the lowest forms of Poles who go there.

Food / Polish food at home or out? [57]

but isn't it funny to hear Poles standing around saying how gross food is from the USA, how it's so unhealthy and fatty while at the same time, they're chowing down on a big kielbasa in a bun, the guy next to him is eating a Zapiekanka and the girl next to them is eating fried pierogi dripping with butter stuffed with some ground up mystery meat?

Lol. Don't forget the smalec - fried bacon bits with all the grease Polish people put on their bread.
America has a wide variety of food selections. You can eat lean and low calorie foods available everywhere or not. It depends what you like. And the assumption of "American food is disgusting" is very typical of Poles who newly come here or have never been here. They already have it installed in their heads what the food is like before trying it. They hate our breads and our kielbasas, lol, but that's what makes every country unique.

USA, Canada / US citizenship via US Army [50]

Polish law apparently calls for sentences of up to 5 years in prison if a Polish citizen willingly joins a foreign military without permission.

No, you don't understand the text. It says 5 years in prison if you put on a uniform of a foreign country without permission, and then fight for that country in another uniform

If you have your greencard, it's just a matter of time before you get your citizenship,

Not if it's a 2 year "conditional" green card which is based on marriage.

you have to be a permanent resident for a certain number of years before you can apply for citizenship, I don't remember if it's three or five.

5 years if not married, 3 years if married to US citizen.

I guess its a good deal for the US, but for the Poles? I dont think so...

Really? If so why are there visas for Poland?

Travel / Quiet places to visit outside of Krakow [15]

However, they are a bit touristy while she desires something off the beaten track.

Not too many foreign tourists go there because it is less known. Most go to Wieliczka - the salt mines, which are very interesting and Oswiecim.

And it is not a "she"

Life / Positive things which make a Pole stand out positively in the World! [30]

Polish girls are beautiful and loved by people all over the world

Lol

Poles on average are more willing to work than many people I realized

Not the ones I've met. Some think they know everything, they take things apart and never put it back together properly and they think they are better than others. Not all, but some of them do.

But since this is about positives, it's a tough one. I think the Poles who love their own country instead of leaving it for greener pastures, who believe they can improveit without being competitive with others and who respect and value other peoples's decisions, hold my respect.

But there are very few who fall into that category.

Travel / Quiet places to visit outside of Krakow [15]

A bus from Krakow will take you to Tyniec. Tyniec is a historic village on the Vistula river, notable for its famous Benedictine abbey founded by king Casimir the Restorer in 1044.

Another place to visit is Ojców. Very famous for it's Eagle Nests Trail (Szlak Orlich Gniazd), there are ruins of a gothic castle and underground caves you can explore. Ojców National Park is the smallest of Poland's 23 national parks.

Food / Polish food at home or out? [57]

If this Pole did make a hamburger at hme it certainly wasn't the same as that which he would've gotten at a fast food restaurant, because the components of the hamburger chain's sandwich are full of preservatives and chemical flavor enhancers.

Not if you bought the same piece of meat in a store and fry it up yourself.
One thing I noticed that some Polish people do around here is when they grill out, they pour oil all over the meat. Just wondering if that is normal in poland, like pouring ketchup on your pizza.

Food / Polish food at home or out? [57]

that it is cheaper to eat out than at home in the States.

It depends where you eat out, what you order and where you live. Some restaurants are more expensive than others for the same meal. And some meals you prepare at home can be more expensive if you buy them in more expensive stores.

A Polish person came to the US and had a bad opinion of American fast foods without even trying. He would not eat a burger from a restaurant because it was wrapped in paper, but at home he would make the same burger served on a plate and eat it. A lot of this is in your mind.

We either have a lot of people posting on here who claim to be Irish

Gotta be a muslim. Even a dumb irishman would not make that many mistakes.
But, at least someone is moving to Poland. That's a good sign. Just hope he don't get beat up.

UK, Ireland / Immgration to UK. A success? [114]

"Poles in England & Wales 4 times more law abiding than average Brit?
Latest statistics published in the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail show that Poles living here are overwhelmingly law abiding in comparison to the average resident of England and Wales.

Was this written by a Pole?

UK, Ireland / Immgration to UK. A success? [114]

Polish migrants Wojciech Ostolski, 32, Lieneusz Bartnowski, 21, both from Wolverhampton, along with Macaej Kus, 30, from Birmingham, were each charged with both murders and aggravated burglary.

The queen should do something about letting all those Poles in. They can't find any jobs, don't want to work, don't want to go back home, drink everything they make then kill the citizens. It's sad Poles behave this way.

News / Polish people humiliated in the latest episode of Family Guy [51]

Did you watch it? This scene when Brian quarrels with Quagmire and accuses him of being half-polish which makes Quagmire furious (that is he's ashamed of his polish ancestry).

SO? Lol. Why are Polish people so touchy and take everything personally? It's just a stupid cartoon.

A "dream"?99% or more of Poles can leave Poland at any given moment and they don't even have to have passports in order to do that. You call it a "dream", sucker?

Travel / Visiting Poland in May - what should I bring? [28]

I made tacos when visiting Poland once and when I left, the people I styed with were licking the juices from the pan and would eat the leftover tacos one a day so it lasts longer. Poles love that stuff and it's a good idea to make some.

Language / The difference between lubić and podobać się in Polish? [4]

Depends on what item you are talking about.

Lubi jabłka - likes apples, (as to eat)
You normally don't say "podobaja mi sie jabłka" because that would mean "I like the way they look"
"Lubię czarne buty" - I like black boots
Podobają mi się czarne buty - I like black boots because they are pretty, I like the way they look

So, "lubić" - "like"
"podobać się" - "I like because it's pretty"
