Work / I want to move to Poland (but of course we need to find a good job) [117]

You got it lef!

Was just about to get my Polish flag out and put the bigos on the boil and hang it outside, but then I remembered I'm already in Poland.

Perhaps I will have that vodka after all...

(Which is exactly the reaction that all the poor miserable Polaks have, and is precisely why everyone here can't get out of the rut they've dug themselves into...)

You d better go back to overcowded, overpriced ,lefty UK - go to the pub have a few cheap beers and they pick up fat, drunk , vomiting british girl.....

That is exatly opned-mined sophisitcated ant great.

And i am not poor and miserable but from your posts it is rather you.Little man with little brain.

The practice of keeping a person in a private home prior to burial

rubbish, what happened in some homes is that body is brought home before funeral. But the same happens in USA, India.... and what?

Work / I want to move to Poland (but of course we need to find a good job) [117]

how do you know about it? Do yoy think that you are a little patronising?

I have been living in UK for 4 years and each time visit Poland it is better...more smart shops and shopping centres, roads renovated all the time ( I know for money fro UE), new flats and houses modern and well designed.... So I am not so sure what is your problem.

Life / Poland Religion in daily life/ INTERVIEW for school paper [28]

9. They bless Easter Baskets on Easter Sunday

Sunday????? In Krakow it is on Saturday.

I would say about shaking hands with people , priests do it in England I am afraid it is impossible in Poland as there are too many people in the church.

I have notce few more differences but between Poland and England- Polish sermons are much loooonger.( sometimes tooo long)
People in Poland are brught up with bigger respect to church, being there. I was last time on English mass and peopel who were living previous one were talking really loudly.eating somthing...

And one more think- I didn;t see it my Catholic church but Church of England they have little play area in tee back for children to play?:)

I can;t believe it would ever happen in Poland.

Language / Polish or any Slavic language key to any other Slavic languages? [126]

I would say that slovakian is probably the easiest to understand for polish person.

I met here in England Slovakian girl and we were talking in English , later her friend said "why don't you speak in your own languages" we did and we understood each other quite well.

I never hear Ukrainian. Russian is not really similar. I think that languages in previous Jugoslavia ( I am nto so sure how many languages they have now) was not so difficult to understand.

Travel / Just back from Krakow [120]

Shelley,

it is not so bad in Krakow I think. I just understand you as you are English so you feel a little embarrassed with people like this.

it is the same with me if I see drunk, rough polish people on the streets in England I don't feel so good about it.

IZBA WYTRZEZWIEN-:) As British people are seen in Poland as well-off, if drunk and aggressive they will be probably driven there. Next morning , surprise, surprise- nice bill like for stay in good hotel.

But I don't know if it is the same rule there for polish like for foreign citizens? Can police just take theme there?

Travel / Just back from Krakow [120]

I am also back from Krakow but I was there only for a week. For me it was more like visiting my hometown not much of touristic trip

I don't know about this smile? Does everyone smile in England? Not really.
I think that we are in general rather reserved nation so maybe not smile so much to strangers( maybe it is our culture ) but it doesn't mean taht we are miserable.

Travel / Warsaw or Krakow in October? [29]

it is cheaper. In general public transport in Krakow i Warsaw is good. Trams are only withing towns border buses go to further outskirts.
Everything depends on when you live- if it is bigger development with lots of flats - buses and trams go ( appr) every 10 minutes at rush hours and every 15-20 non-rush hours.

If you live in more quiet development ( mainly houses) they go probbaly each 20-30 minutes.( or even every hour)

I don't know so well Warsaw as Krkaow but I would say that it is easier to get without car in Krakow.

Warsaw is bigger ,wider so you probbaly need more car . Krakow is smaller, older( not much parking spaces especially in the centre)

Travel / Warsaw or Krakow in October? [29]

Warsaw is more expensive than Krakow but if someone think about looking for a job there are more opportunities there.

Krakow is pretty, romantic, with slower pace of live . I would saykrakow is a town of culture and history and Warsaw is a town of business.
