Life / Poles fear gay babysitters [9]

Maybe you could propose the question to the organizers of the poll.

Sure:
1.Would you like black people living in joint in your neighborhood?
2. Would you mind living next to gay's den?
3.Would you rather have a tropical island all for yourself?

I would have thought a more interesting question would have been,is it possible for a fourteen year old to answer a question about who they would leave their child with, when they are children themselves?

Those polls are highly unreliable anyway, no need to squabble over details.

History / If Poles were antisemitic, would they ...? [240]

My point is that anti-Jewishness is not focused on our religion

In the face of Jewish identity issues it would be rather hard to focus entirely on religion as for some Jews an favorite pastime is playing a game - now I'm religious and now I'm not. The point is that Jews themselves identify more with their genetic heritage then religion, at least blood ties seems to be more important to them than religion.

News / Poland's John Paul the Great canonisation this year [177]

Forcing religion hasn't proved to be any better.

Forcing religion on people occurred ages ago and nowadays holds rather mythical qualities.
Those countries who were promoting atheism (quite recently) happened to be destroying freedom and murdering people in the precess.

once again, education, education, education.

All those bloody tyrannies has been established by educated people.

Among the very Catholic/Christian countries, we can find Mexico and the Philippines for instance.

"State promotion of atheism as a public norm was first practiced during a brief period in Revolutionary France. Since then, such a policy was repeated only in Revolutionary Mexico and some Marxist-Leninist states"

"Due to the strict enforcement of anti-clerical laws, people in strongly Catholic areas, especially the states of Jalisco, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Colima and Michoacán, began to oppose him, and this opposition led to the Cristero War from 1926 to 1929, which was characterized by brutal atrocities by both sides. Some Cristeros applied terrorist tactics, while the Mexican government persecuted the clergy, killing suspected Cristeros and supporters and often retaliating against innocent individuals. On May 28, 1926, Calles was awarded a medal of merit from the head of Mexico's Scottish rite of Freemasonry for his actions against the Catholics."

News / Nationalist-socialists gaining ground in Poland [24]

Except that the voters are showing a clear desire to keep the opposition out of power

In that case the thread title should be changed into - much ado about nothing - and the article is misleading.

As for "tackle the problem", can you explain how a socialist party will tackle the problem of youth unemployment?

No, I cannot. I'm not that gifted. Why don't you ask the gifted one, it is his thread.
I assumed opposition is there for a reason and they have a different approach to the problem. If one approach doesn't work well it is prudent to try something else.

to see the dangers that could lie ahead..

What dangers? The government is apparently doing a lousy job if the economy is that bad. It is only natural that the opposition will take over the rein to tackle the problem.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

Polish Neo-Nazis(sic)are not patriots, no matter how many times certain people claim they are.

In your opinion.

Do please stop using the word patriot to describe the loony right

However your opinion is obviously biased.

How would you do that? You can neither prove nor disprove existence of God.

That is an assumption, in fact you are not able to predict the future.
A scientific theory is not the end result of the scientific method, theories can be proven or rejected. As long as theory is not rejected by the same scientific method you cannot be certain that given theory is not right.

But you can clearly discern a fact from a hypothesis or a theory.

Misunderstanding.
If you want to be respected you need to respect your opponent. There are only two kind of posters here those who do respect other people and those who do not respect other people. Being religious or non -religious has nothing to do with it.

That proves people who think this way are wrong, not me.

Try to think about God as a scientific theory.

It is a problem when it comes to the nature of discussion we are having

It has nothing to do with the nature of discussion but everything to do with human nature.

Okay, so basically you're telling me I'm wrong, and then reiterating what I said. If it's observed and proven empirically, it's a fact.

No, I'm telling you that you are wrong because many things people think of as scientific facts are in fact only theories.

That's the problem of these people who confuse facts with theories.

This is not a problem but a fact of life.

but you also have to consider the fact that "Young earth creationism is essentially the position that all of modern science

I believe that those two views are not contradictory.

One can have a different point of view when it comes to opinions. When it comes to facts, it's either being right or being wrong.

You are wrong. In scientific reasoning, something can only be called a fact when it can be observed as it occurs or when it can be proven empirically. It means that many things people think of as facts are in fact only theories.

Life / Immigration in Poland and being surrounded by a monoculture? [134]

Taking pride in achievements which are not one's own but failing to feel shame for deeds which were not one's own is as sensible as feeling pride in being born on a Saturday or having green eyes.

In your opinion.

Life / Immigration in Poland and being surrounded by a monoculture? [134]

Well, if a person has nothing about themself or their achievements that they can take pride in because they are an utter failure, they might just try to take pride in things that are in no way whatsoever under their control, such as their skin

There is nothing wrong with pride,it is to me simply the attitude of gratitude for the hard work and sacrifice of my ancestors. It can be used as a motivational tool to inspire people to reach beyond what they think themselves capable of.

When did ignorance become a point of view?

Since when disrespect and an insult has become a tool to club people with a different point of view on the head and call it science?

Opinion is subjective - objective facts are all that matters.

Indeed, it is hard not to agree with what you have written. However if you are implying that you are embodied objectivity in lieu of facts I feel compelled to say that the actual state of things indicate otherwise.

Objective is a statement that is verifiable by looking up facts or performing mathematical calculations.
We have been talking about people's views and feelings and those are not scientifically verifiable.

You should try and imagine yourself in that predicament with possibly the next rapist growing inside you; but its impossible.

I think that posters here relay too much on their imagination not on facts and reality.
John Paul will be a saint for the Roman Catholic Church and all Catholics. "In the Church, the title of Saint refers to a person who has been officially recognized by the Catholic Church, and is therefore believed to be in Heaven."

If you disagree and you are a Catholics that is your problem, nobody force you to believe it to be true.
If you are not a Catholic that issue do not concern you at all.
You should ask yourself what are you doing here? Spewing Virol and hate doesn't make a good person out of you.

. As a society we a made up of individuals;

Indeed but it doesn't change a fact that you can be concerned about humanity but at the same time do not like or respect people as individuals.
