Life / I'm sharing a list of Polish culture - music, film, books, videogames, etc... [5]

Merged: Czesław Niemen - Poland's genius bigger than Prince, Bowie, Dylan or Cat Stevens

This is a tribute to forgotten, quiet musical genius of Czesław Niemen.

His production is timeless, nothing exaggerated, with masterfully assembled tunes, inviting you into the world of music, passion, dance and reminiscence. He was a poet that turned poetry into melody with such ease that he makes it flawless much like Marek Grechuta or Cat Stevens but with more variety and depth most times. Worlds can not describe his input into the world of music, true master of his craft who was as modest as one can be. Enormous talent who went away almost without anyone noticing, it is sad that in Poland we don't praise our brightest stars, that ignorant, blind western world doesn't is a well known fact, but we should do better than that.

Here are some of his masterpieces:

1. "Dziwny jest ten świat"

youtu.be/wTjLZwpmufw

youtu.be/AMgZ0SBEL5I (The voice of Ukraine - Niemen's version sang by Ormian singer Hasmik Sirojan)

youtu.be/3aRz0IVMuW8 (In Sopot Concert 1967)

2. "Sen o Warszawie"

youtu.be/ePNUSmH3dMI

3. "Jołoczki, sosionoczki" (this super masterpiece he sings in 3 voices - he had to put it together in a studio but could
never perform live - impossible)

Natasza Urbanska sings "Joloczki, sosionoczki"

UK, Ireland / A new mayor in London: opinion of Polish people in the UK? [317]

Ziemowit! No matter what the topic is you will always pick on InPolska, that is pathetic, time to realise this, I hope it will take you less than four minutes to arrive at this revelation, no laughing matter but I welcome InPolska to keep laughing at your vanity.

USA, Canada / Moving to Poland to immerse my kids in Polish language and culture. What are the experiences of other parents? [10]

Hi DaisyW,

I think this is a very good move, although I do not have kids I worked with children and youth and having had an international experience I can say with all confidence that it is for the better to have your children raised in Poland during their formative years as Poland still exemplifies good parenting and child rearing practices which will come to fruition later in life when your children become adults - you probably thought the same once you grew up "czym skorupka za mlodu na siaknie tym na starosc zakwitnie".

Off-Topic / Polish and Russian Christians! Lest's unite today! [41]

Admin - Crow, please remember that this is the Polish forum and posts have to be related as close as possible to POLAND

Pane Brate Admine! Crow got you and you are a hypocrite, didn't I make a mention of it before? So many posts related exclusively to American political and social scene are posted not only in off topic forum but in general one and are accepted without blinking an eye by you, so from now on it would suffice that you undertake a more consequential approach when making your statements in pursuit of adherence to the rule which you violate yourself all the time. In any case, here you have made another mistake and even overlooked the rule and so Crow pointed it out for as a second tragedy, you are confusing the protocol.

Just like Polish Catholic Church the Russian Othodox Church stands side by side the people upholding patriotic values that make communities belonging to those churches feel safe and strong. This is a great example for Polish population to keep up the good work by maintaining its solidarity with the Catholic Church.

News / Poland's Prime Minister Szydło keeps American bulldogs on short leash [36]

The authors of the now ridiculed letter to Prime Minister of Poland blabber about Polish democracy failing among other things in the sphere of liberal freedom and law ha ha, let's look at American liberties: congressional representative is chosen before voters make a move; two main parties (republicans and democrats) sabotage on regular basis their competition; this one is the best - the government can twist the head of any court case by painting it as a state secret (that easy) (and American politicians dare to lecture Polish ruling party about court systems in Poland being undemocratic?)

Don't take my wod for it, here is one comment from American (I presume) commentator The more and more I read about how limited the people of the US are when it comes to Democracy, the more ideas and inspiration I get to write a dystopian novel set in the present where every Democrat and Republican are cartoonishly evil. In that novel the only hope to save our nation is to launch a coup and-

Hang on, there's someone knocking on my door...

great level of Christian solidarity

This is a great input into a thread that serves as an important reminder of the unity between Christians and strength it represents not just for Christians but for Polish overall and other nationalities.

News / Nike company breaks Polish child labour policy [7]

Do boycotts work?.......................the answer is, not really.

That is the kind of self-defeating attitude that companies like Nike welcome from obedient individuals such as yourself. Boycots work of enough pressure is generated on more than one level - as time passes by boycotts gain more credibility, notoriety and support from all spheres of sociopolitical strata.

News / Nike company breaks Polish child labour policy [7]

It does not matter whether the Nike company employs children or gorillas in that particular factory in Poland, what matters is that It does in general employ kids in Its factories around the world, Poland should not support such company as a matter of principle.

News / Nike company breaks Polish child labour policy [7]

American company Nike which produces mainly sporting equipment is using children to sustain Its labour needs. The use of child labour is against Polish policy on child employment which prohibits the recruitment of children below the age of 16. To hell with American companies like that, I am boycotting Nike products and so should others in Poland.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Ironside:

They cry because they're foul and rotten to the core."

Almost there as usual, they cry because they have been spurred on by the media outlets such as TVN24 or Polsat, and because some of them represent the criminals that have benefited from the PO system of allowing foreign companies to do whatever - no constitution. Finally, they have been paid and promised miracles by the stirrer (wanted criminal) in the form of George Soros.

News / Mass protests needed in Poland in front of American embassy [60]

We've been waiting 2 weeks for you to register this protest so we can attend.

You will not be attending, for your own sake; traitors are being watched, as are spies. Are you pyzzed off with current Polish government because it is right wing and not so keen on gay agenda or because it is more concerned with Polish affairs than American ones? Either way, forget the protest, go and protest in front of the church like a good, angry homosexual.

I'll even buy the first round of beers for everybody after the demo (lemonade in some cases of course).

Polish drink vodka mainly, bears are for sissies. Lemonade is a nice thought for a change but I think you are too broke and stingy anyways to provide anything like that but you are welcome to beg in front of the embassy I will kindly drop some coins for your bear, you just keep a watch for any big gatherings in Poland this year, beggers are usually welcome (even the British ones). Involvement in such a protest is a serious matter and alcohol is not welcome you English down syndrome stricken child.

News / Chernobyl nuclear power station accident - Sweden incidently saved Polish lives, will Russia take some away? [6]

In 1986 there was an explosion at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the town of Pripyat in Ukraine. The radioactive waste has spread throughout Soviet Union and to the west of It including Poland and other countries in Its vicinity. The Plant was governed by the central powers in Soviet Union - Russia - and as such Russia is ultimately responsible for the disaster. However, accidents can happen but what many Polish can not understand is how could Russian and Ukrainian authorities try to conceal the accident, the bastards tried to hide the fact that radiation is raising in many countries to dangerous levels as a direct result of the said disaster. This is something Russia should be held accountable for, people had the right to know that they may been be effected by additional (other than natural everyday exposure) levels of radiation that could cause serious health complications. The knowledge of it reached the public only through Radio Free Europe (Poland) where on the third day Sweden alerted listeners to the raised radiation levels in the atmosphere.

There are many disputes as to how much has the accident effected and is going to further effect those exposed to radiation all those years ago, the reports vary with some claiming the radiation levels were much lower than first reported, while other media outlets project more deaths in the near future, most notably from cancer. In Poland, it is has been estimated that in two years the generation of those exposed to the radiation will began to suffer greatly the effects of the past exposure. Whether it's true or not, the fact remains that Soviet authorities tried to all the disaster related information from public knowledge, that's beyond disgusting.

Language / Polish vs Russian: Which language sounds cooler? [21]

Prefer the sound of Russian. So does my husband, who's Polish.

Yeah, it is more musical. I always liked the sound of Russian language, it sounds more versatile than Polish and has a melody to it that is stronger than Polish.

Your husband was in the vicinity of Russian women near his home in Poland on regular basis? Where have those women come from?

Have you organised the protest yet?

As far as I know, it's pretty straightforward to register a demonstration.

Yes, yes I need to register for that of course, and I will also register for permission from American embassy whether I protest in front of it. You are welcome to join the protest, you will both make a nice shield when your American comrades start shooting.

Life / What don't you like about Poland or Polish People? [117]

Colds are not caused by being cold, they are caused by viruses, end of.

Science and good old Polish practicality lesson for you.

I never mentioned that colds are caused by being cold, do not twist my words. I mentioned that your and your boyfriend's reasons for disliking elderly Polish population in regards to their methods of preventing one getting from cold are totally illogical and unfounded. You do not tell a child: "When outside be wary of influenza and rhinovirus or you'll get pneumonia". When advising a child you command the easiest and yet efficient ways for the child to monitor the situation and the best way to do that is to alert them to the signals the body sends when something is not right (it's science as well - for the science nerds that want to prove how stupid Polish elderly folk is). One of the prime signals of interest here is the feeling of cold since when one's temperature decreases they body becomes frail and less immune to fighting cold-related bacteria and viruses (that is science for you as well). There is a strong correlation between the feeling of cold and becoming sick (fever, runny nose, coughing, having sore throat just to name few of the symptoms). Polish elderly alerting the children to a danger of exposing themselves to cold weather while failing to keep war at the same and thus highly risking sickness like cold condition is perfectly justifiable.

Rightly or wrongly my father would say that people who behave badly in Poland and those with with poor social manners were usually the cygańi (gypsies).

Your dad is wrong or you made it up. The only people behaving badly in Poland are Gypsies? Ha ha ha.

Polish upper crust, you do make me laugh, I have yet to see any here, but I think that's a good thing, maybe you are confusing upper crust with wannabee yuppies?.

There is such thing as Polish upper crust, they retain some old aristocratic manners, I have met some of those people. Just because you have not met them does not mean they don't exist, they are not yuppies, they are usually in their 90s, 80s and 70s (some younger). You should learn more about Poland before writing comments here.

Life / Polish culture versus rotten West [279]

Now, what an unprecedented personal attack on Atch coming down from the French forces on the PolishForums!

Stick to the topic old grandpa and stop attacking a woman who is being bombarded from all sides, InPolska put it simply right that you have no testicles (or small and smelly) if you join with so many others against one, you coward, you belong with all the things that are rotten about West and that is bullying. Your geriatric self should know better and you know what I mean, in Poland especially during your days bullying was almost non-existent, not to mention showing some courtesy towards a woman, and you call yourself Polish? Maybe you spent too much time at an Irish pub with your low life male friends who do the same as you do here in PF.

Everyone, please focus on the thread topic, not on one another

News / Mass protests needed in Poland in front of American embassy [60]

Nato is a burden on the USA, they would prefer that the Europeans would pay for their own defense. However The EU helps the USA and the West because united equal strength.

Russia works on the divide and conquer principle, which is why they are determined to destroy the EU and NATO[/quote]
NATO is a burden on USA only in cases where there is no business to be made from NATO's interference. NATO is that additional check for Americans to keep Russia at bay, it is in the very interests of USA that Russia remains the size it is, so USA gladly pays for NATO, but I suppose American spy network and privately hired, under the radar armies, are doing better job for USA in Eastern European region of undermining every effort at maintaining or establishing strong independent state that is not at its knees in front of USA or a state that is allied with Russia. It is USA that divides nations by sponsoring one side or the other within Eastern Europe and not only and thus creating disorder and war. If USA continues this way we may have war in Europe and even bigger refuge situation, USA will destroy Europe and we can not let it happen. The biggest dissonance between Germany and Poland now is over immigrants, a product of American war on? Terror? They created this terror, let's not forget who sponsored the Taliban.

Feedback / What made you join Polish Forums & whats attractive here? [29]

Most people who come here are just in for good ride over Polish everything and some of those people are Polish members - nothing new since Poland has been betrayed by Polish themselves many times in history so this little forum reflects some of tradition of Poland being the scapegoat of traitors of Slavic blood.

I keep coming here mainly because of Ironside (Ironside are you reading this? I hope so, maybe you will like me at last).

Sometimes I get excited and come here and then I realise I clicked the wrong button, it's Polish Forum again, shiiit. Other times when Ironside is not here I keep imaging he is still here and that is what attracts me to this forum.

Other than that, since I am after all Polish, I come here to exchange information regarding Polish matters.

Life / Is it safe for Indians, Sikhs living here in Poland? Any Temple / Gurudwara in Wroclaw? [159]

Please, first learn Polish - properly - then study in Poland. Secondly, learn English so that your manner of addressing others becomes more subtle on this forum, otherwise you come across as uneducated, this may not be true but it sounds like it. You may speak and write in broken English but you must have posses form of communication when doing it and I do not see it here. Also, why Asians almost always study only business related courses? Are you so money hungry?

Life / What don't you like about Poland or Polish People? [117]

This is my problem too, there few positives about western culture like human rights and animal rights agenda but most of it just sucks and in Poland we tend to absorb all of it like a sponge without filtering.

but again it does not mean you automatically will get sick like many elderly Poles believe.

No, but the chances in Poland are high of getting sick if one does not dry hair while being indoors, especially if it is older person or a child, so its a precaution and elderly people are correct, are you getting it once and for all or you are going to be arguing with Polish people about it forever? Same people who know their environment better than you or maybe you know better? Maybe you will tell me how it is in Poland professor?

However, there is a strong correlation between being cold/feeling cold which CAN lower your immune system (again not automatically WILL lower your immunse system)

You know what? You sound like a nit picking try-hard and when you do that you begin to sound stupid, you are trying to overthrow a perfectly good precautionary method of staying safe and warm and free of cold which in Poland is an absolute must and you are trying to twist and make it so scientific to make yourself sound clever where in fact you just made it sound idiotic. Nothing is 100% certain, one child out of ten may even stay outside with half the clothes others are wearing and not get sick, wow what a discovery you made! We are not talking absolutes here but general precaution and I just refrained from yet again calling you that name that you call someone who is ignoring the knowledge right in front of them.

You have Americans judging Muslims in Europe when in reality their black population is five times worse!

Your comment is spot on but this last part I don't understand. I think you are referring to African gettos and the high level of crimes happening there but that is a more complex matter and not for this thread. Americans are judging Muslims in Europe? What do you mean by that and how does it relate to American war efforts and forcing Europe to accept immigrants? This got me lost.

What's the matter American? You don't like it when Polish mess with American fun and games? It's all fine for you to come to my country and all throughout your stay contemplate how to disrupt government that is more about about Polish affairs than foreign business but it is wrong for Polish to organise anti-American protest in their own country? Be happy Polish have not yet marched on White House, that would be equivalent to Americans literary sticking their noses into Polish politics; it however, may happen if Poland ever becomes stronger and totally sick of American dirty underground work.

Life / What don't you like about Poland or Polish People? [117]

I highly doubt that just being cold will make you sick.

Are you stupid or something? I am not old but I have respect for elderly wisdom unlike in USA where older people are thought of as useless waste of space. Yes, you can get sick if you go out in the cold and you feel cold, that is what the elderly Polish mean. Also, Iin Polish weather if you don't dry your hair completely you can indeed get not just sick but very sick, even slightest miss can create serious problems if prolonged exposure to cold endures and hair is not completely dry.

History / Teaching our kids about Poland's History [57]

Exactly, and not only that, he travels across the globe and is being treated like celebrity while giving his one to two hour sessions (his speaks most of the time and people applaud like robots) and twists a lot of historical facts his way. He is fundamentally anti-Russian and pro-western, he does Polish history some good but also has done a lot of detriment. His account of WWII was not too bad as he at least was not partial towards the victims - Jews were not on the pedestal for once- and I thank him for that but he is not someone who can be trusted all the way.

History / Teaching our kids about Poland's History [57]

I have met Norman Davies personally, he is a manipulator like no other, career opportunist, he tells half the story, carefully prepares his historical propaganda and in primitive manner dismisses any opposing argumentation. He is someone not to be considered anywhere.
