I was actually explaining this to someone the other day, that "must" should only be used when it is absolutely required without dissent - for instance, you must not enter a military training ground.

There's also the use of must when recommending something, e.g. "You must see that film, you'd love it."

Foreign languages are necessary. You ........... learn at least one.

while the key suggests: :"should."

Because there is no absolute requirement or obligation to do so. It's just a good idea.

Then you're in for a treat. But make sure you buy the Solidarność brand. There are other plums in chocolate which are cheaper and sugary. Solidarność make by far the best. Not cheap but excellent.

Yes, it must be remembered that many alcoholics are what we might call maintenence alcoholics, who seldom or never get drunk; they just top themselves up, and can be entirely professional and fully functioning. Also, let's not forget that people who recognize their addiction but haven't had a drink in years often refer to themselves as alcoholics.

The late John Thaw (Inspector Morse; Kavanagh) was one such maintenence alcoholic.

Food / Are frozen chips a cancer risk? The UK's NHS responds. [21]

"Frozen chips are a cause of cancer" reports the UK Daily Telegraph

The headline is Frozen chips 'are a cause of cancer'. The DT does not state that frozen chips are a cause of cancer. The article then goes on to partially clarify its scaremongering by stating that acrylamide is a 'probable human carcinogen'. As usual the newspapers start with the scare and then qualify it.

I highly recommend Ben Goldacre's book Bad Science, which has done a lot to expose both crappy research and misleading journalism.

Depends on the institution and/or the faculty. Blanket statements do not inform.

The comments came as it emerged secondary schools in Liverpool and Wirral would be fitted with clinics as part of a teenage health drive..

A campaign to promote health, how decadent.

The National Children's Bureau (NCB) has called for the clinics to be expanded to every secondary school and college to give pupils access to high-quality advice and help.

Access to high quality health advice and help. Obviously the UK is rotten to the core.

But the latest move has sparked anger from campaigners

Not difficult. These people always produce more heat than light.

Comparing what goes on it British schools and Polish schools is a risky bit of trolling. We've just had a priest playing weird games with children, and a year or two ago we had the Star game. This thread seeks to provoke and inflame, but the OP should remember that Poland is not lily white when it comes to inappropriate behaviour in schools.

The case of Megan has nothing to do with the rotten west. It has everything to do with questionable behaviour of one person, the teacher in

And as for Tusk being free-market. Hmmm. He's certainly in favour of big business. Doesn't like the smaller ones though - because they don't pay him.

Does the Prime Minister receive personal payments or take bribes from big businesses in return for political favours? Please clarify.

I think you'll find that the product would have to be tested by food safety authorities before it is allowed to be sold in Poland. Finding buyers would come later.
