Love / Polish traditions and parents (I was dating this Polish guy..) [72]

i did not mean i was very experienced in sex i have only had maybe 3 other men besides him

Oh well, the first girl I ever slept with didn't believe I was a virgin, and the second girl didn't believe it either..

i dont like pushy, rude, arroagant lying men.

Buy a dog?

because i am scottish and thats what makes me sexy? i dont know he is weird.

Well, a Scottish accent *can* be potentially sexy if done right, so maybe it's not *that* weird!

Love / Polish girlfriends testing guys with "Are you Angry with me" texts [59]

it was actually a very normal question, the guy was just surprised at the high level of mindgames playing that polish girls do usually

You call a few silly texts a mindgame over there? Wow. (I need to spend some time in Poland and fast!!)

xD

Amateurs.

Love / Polish girlfriends testing guys with "Are you Angry with me" texts [59]

"I hope you are not angry. Have a nice night, Kisses"

''Enjoy yourself baby girl..''

or "Are you angry with me?"

''Why? You think I should be?''

"Hey I should call you Mr. Angry or Mr. Huffish ?''

''Nah, you should call me Mr. Crazy-about-you!''

I was hoping you are not so angry with me :P Enjoy today "

''Hey, don't worry about it? If I ever *was* angry with you sweetheart, it probably wouldn't last for much longer than a second anyway! (Because you're too damn cute?)''

I know this is extreme mind-playing from their part, but what is actual a good nonchalant action to do?

I'm not saying it's any good, because if she insists it *obviously* won't matter how good you think you are. (Sad but true!)

Or I should ignore more days?

If you feel like she's seriously doing you wrong then you should ignore until she calls or texts you back, and *if* she doesn't, you should probably ignore her for life.

Australia / Secret gems (Good places to have a beer) in Melbourne Australia [20]

Well I'll know *locals* go there by the simple fact that I've *asked* a local about the place...?

Yeah, but what makes a local a local? I mean, if you live there you're a local, right?

By the same token, how do you identify a creative person? ;)

Try purple, blue or pink hair, colourful clothing, piercings, and butterfly tattoos! (Or someone who's wearing All Stars!)

Well sometimes I like to visit the pants of a city too! :P As well as the V-neck shirts and silly socks!

Haha! (I should've seen that one coming!) Hmm.. Bermuda shorts and Birkenstocks anyone?

xD

Could have fooled me... I want to heed the advice of those who are more knowledgeable than me... and then add to their impressions with what I've learned.

Well, I'm just operating on sheer intuïtion here, but I really don't think you could ever go wrong with a name like The Drunken Poet!

(And my weekends are only so long!)

I guess you're *still* pretty lucky then, because I would *definitely* classify my weekends as only so short..

Well I think they'll be a heady mixture of Jimmy Barnes and Pan Tadeusz! ;)

Looks like someone will have to learn some Dutch!

And she's getting hard to play. ;)

I guess ''maak je borst maar nat'' would be a Dutch expression.

*wets his chest*

Australia / Secret gems (Good places to have a beer) in Melbourne Australia [20]

You have a point... but it's always nice just hanging where the locals hang?

Hmm.. I don't think I'd ever see the difference between locals and newcomers in a city of nearly four million people? I'm sure Melbourne has locals though! I just think I'd roam the city for a while and just follow the creative people..

Hey, how could I ever forget about skirts?

;)

Just wanted a heads up, and to find those *quintessential* Melbourne bars. They can be pretty well hidden! I'd totally understand if someone asked me the same about Sydney.

Well, I *obviously* can't tell you much about Melbourne, but I *can* bump your thread and hope you'll get some more answers!

And who knows... I might bump into a drunken Sobieski! :P Keep 'em coming!

Who knows.. I think we're all dying to hear about his funny barsongs?

Not a chance!

Note to self: She's just playing hard to get.

Travel / Help! Want to take the train from Warsaw to Amsterdam! [7]

Any body has taken the train from Warsaw to Amsterdam?

Nope, but I *did* take the train from Amsterdam to Warszawa once. (Does that count?)

If so "Please let me know the procedure and exprience you have had!" Thanks!

Very stiff legs. Didn't sleep too much. (I'd recommend an airticket!)

Australia / Secret gems (Good places to have a beer) in Melbourne Australia [20]

How about pretending to be Ms. Happy Go Lucky for a while? I'm pretty positive you'll stumble across some nice places - totally by chance - if you just tighten your sneakers and go for a stroll? I mean, sometimes, there just are *some* things that you just have to experience for yourself to find out which place floats your boat? (Or your barrel!)

my brother swears by the drunken poet near the vic mkt, happy hour on all beers from 5-7 on fridays.

Hmm.. The Drunken Poet. I kinda like the sound of that! (So is this where all the Poets, Hip-Hoppers and Rappers get drunk?)

me, i prefer places like e-55 and hells kitchen.

Any special reasons in particular as to why you prefer these places? (The music? The atmosphere? The drinks? The bartenders? The waitresses?)

Let's just say I need a man as much as I have a man... does that makes any sense?

So who's the lucky bastard? (I think I'm tempted to steal you from this guy!)

News / What Poland can't do right [113]

That would be sheep cheese.

Actually both.

;)

By decent goat cheese I mean like French goat cheese yummm

Aha! Oui! Très bien!

xD

pretty much noone can manufacture and sell us a decent quality yellow cheese for sandwiches.

Seriously? So how much would a good recipe of yellow cheese be worth to you guys? (I swear I can smell some kind of opportunity here!)

Feta is marvellous. But only the one from the village full of cream. You will lick your fingers if you taste it.We don't understand how foreigners get excited by the commercial quality sold in super markets.

Hey, I'm a sophisticated foreigner, so I actually know my Feta! I know a store owned by a Greek, and he imports it straight from Greece. (Not the cow milk variety either!) His daughter probably convinced me to buy it there.

I honestly wouldn't know about Polish goat cheese, but I do think the Greek have a monopoly on Feta already?

Of course they can! They just need to know how.

Forget about money for a moment. Forget about yourself for a moment. Don't show them *you* are worth it, but show them *they* are worth it. Don't show them how awesome *you* are, but show them how awesome *they* are.

Love / Your Thoughts about 20 Year Age Difference Between Men & Women in Poland? [74]

I'm 22 had first child at 16, my current partner is 46, any one think it can work out???

I don't believe such age differences should be a problem when you're dating or looking for something more casual, and I really don't think age differences of about ten years should cause much problems in more serious or long-term relationships either. But twenty four years? It's pretty obvious that you'll still be in the middle of your life when you're about thirty six. He'll be sixty then. I think you should seriously ask yourself if that's what you *really* want.

He say he loves me n wanna have kids with me but I'm scared that later on my regret it! Plz give me an advise really need one :(

I don't see many men raise teenagers in their early sixties, do you? I mean, if you're going to have a child with him this or next year, or even later, then that child will be fourteen when he's sixty one, sixty two or sixty three. (And he talks about more kids?) He shouldn't be too selfish and think about *your* future as well, because you already *have* three kids of your own. Hey, it's not *my* life, but I wouldn't go along with this plan if I were you. I guess it would be different if he accepted the fact that you already have three children of your own, but then again who am I to tell you what will or won't work out for you guys? Just saying that a bigger age difference in a relationship is one thing, but when kids are involved you *should* give it more thought.

Feedback / A Personal Request to all PF members [119]

I think if those people who tends to be rude, say controvercial things, mock or test people's behaviour would not dare to be like that if they were to put their picture and full name on public...

I can't speak for other people, but I would *definitely* tell you everything I've said to your face, just like I'm doing here. And just because some people are a bit rude sometimes, doesn't necessarily mean they're always hateful or trying to hurt people! (As if Polish people never use the word Kurwa or similar expressions?)

ok you're excused ;)

Thank you so much!

;D

Its just a request as it stood in my first post. Why is this so complex I have no idea.

And there's nothing wrong with that request, but some people here immediately start to equate our use of language with friendliness. Sure, wether it's always classy or tactful or not is debatable, but surely we don't have to act like Queen Victoria all the time? I do agree with the fact that such language isn't at all desirable when someone's asking a nice and polite question, but I really don't see any harm in a couple of jokes between a few regulars who are known for being a little rough around the edges..

''Hey *******, can you hand me that screwdriver for a second?'' ''Sure dickhead, there you go.'' ''Thanks, prick.'' ''I've heard that dizzy employer of yours fired you, but I might know of a couple of addresses for you if you like.'' ''Okay.'' ''So do you need a job ********' ''Yeah I do, you talking ash-tray, thanks a lot!'' ''Hey, no problem, pancake.''

That's how I grew up.

Feedback / A Personal Request to all PF members [119]

I think it would be a plague of XXI cent. ;)

I think so too, but there *are* some positive sides to this medium as well.

Do what you want but from my personal experience the Internet more isolates people than helps them to comunicate. It's just a delusion that it can open the world in front of you.

In some ways it does, and in other ways it doesn't. I would prefer to meet and socialize with people in a more physical way too, but maybe you'd understand me a little if you lived where I live. A very small town in a rural area, where most younger people - especially from my generation - have left. I'm pretty much occupied with a study as well, so I don't have *that* much money or time to go out as much as I would like to. I agree with you in some ways, but I suppose I understand the other side of the story as well?

well yeah. But some brought the discussion on comepletely different "level" (e.g. threats)

Ever heard of macho talk? It's probably nothing more than just that? Hey, I don't know about where you live, but boys will always be boys.. Over here, the bored ones are *always* bluffing to make themselves look a little bigger, and in the bars here? There's usually a lot of fighting going on here, and I think that's bullshit too! I would probably prefer a dancing course with someone.

:)

But yeah, go ahead and call me nuts.

;P

Feedback / A Personal Request to all PF members [119]

That's my point. That's why the Internet is not reflecting anything (maybe only itself and the Internauts opinions).

And you think that the people around you *always* tell you *everything* they have on their mind? That they never pretend to be someone they're not? That they never conform to certain norms because they worry about what their neighbours *might* say about them? Or that people at a house party never act a little crazy? Or in the bar? Whatever!

Most of us are just people on the internet, and yes, there are always a few nutters among us, some positively nuts, others negatively nuts, or just nut-nuts. But seriously, if we were *all* unbalanced and nuts for frequenting a forum, then *every* person on Facebook, Hyves or any other social networking site is nuts too! Dude, we have a lot of nutters on this planet!

:O

I hope so :)

Have a little faith in people?

I think that the both sides have its nuts

I think most people here are only blowing off steam every once in a while, or acting a bit funny when they wish to take their minds off of their dull office jobs! (Gee, I don't know, but they almost seem like normal people?)

;)

Only 20%? Me and convex came to the conclusion that the vast majority of active users are complete nuts.

Well, I'm positively nuts most of the time, very rarely negatively nuts, but usually I'm *almost* normal! (Whatever the hell ''normal'' is supposed to mean!)

xD

It's like saying most balanced people don't lose their time on socializing with others.

It does come across like that a little.

A laugh? Friendship? Comfort? Frustration? Satisfaction on your perception of others? Anger? New insights into others?

Definitely a laugh, new insights for sure, and yeah, even friendship. Oh, and of course some people just like an interesting discussion, a good talk or even a bit of an intellectual challenge every once in a while, and maybe they couldn't find that much at home or at the bar! (And maybe some people are just a little shy in real life!) Maybe, maybe, maybe! Who knows what all of our reasons could be? But to say we're all unbalanced people just because we happen to frequent a forum seems a little rash..

;)

What do you gain?

I know a Polish guy who used to read this forum, and he found a job in Holland because I pointed him to a job agency. (He did the rest on his own.) Do you know that guy is now a good friend of mine? Hey, it's a small world sometimes!

So maybe I could rephrase that question: What do you lose?

:)

Reading post of some users here I can say that something like 20% of active users are complete nuts.

Have you ever been to a house party in Amsterdam on a Friday night?

I didn't mean you in particular.

I just meant to reassure you, that's all. (Call it a friendly gesture, even when it's unnecessary.) Oh, and even if you did, I really wouldn't care about that, simply because *I* know who I am. I think you shouldn't take *everything* people say on the internet too serious, because I'm willing to bet that half of the people you view as nuts here, really aren't *that* bad in real life. I think a few people here are pretty nuts myself, especially some of the more bigoted ones, and some of the racists here. But 20%? Not really!

:D

Most balanced people don't lose their time for virtual life.

I disagree, because there are many character traits, circumstances and factors which can contribute to a less active life or a less active social life. Some people are studying and need more time for themselves, others actually make a more conscious decision to avoid the tumult outside because they've left their teenage years well behind them. Some people spend their time on the internet when others would watch television. So that doesn't always have to mean that those people who spend more time on the internet than others would, are somehow less balanced individuals. (Relax, because I'm not taking offense to your words!) Just saying some people like to take it easier than others..

Who said anything about we? I was referring to you taking threads off topic - again.

I didn't take anything off-topic, I merely expanded on your reply to Lodz_The_Boat. (Unless you think you were being off-topic!) Just ignore me if you don't like it, because this *is* pointless. Doesn't help you, doesn't help me, doesn't help the forum. So how about have a beer and reply to something you *do* like?

;)

Most posters are foreigners ...

Aren't we all foreigners to each other?

but as per the Admin, most "viewers" are probably not.

Which doesn't matter anyway, if we consider some could be expats, tourists, have Polish ancestors or are somehow interested.

The culture of PF could be a reflection of Poland in and of itself.

I really don't think such a small number of people could ever reflect the culture of a whole nation, no matter which country they're coming from. I think most people are aware of that, so I wouldn't worry too much about the reputation of your country because of *one* internet forum, which doesn't even use the Polish language as its main language.

Now that is an interesting observation. What do others think? How much truth in that?

Just as much truth as you wish to read into it.

sometimes the atmosphere is too unreal, sometimes the language barrier ... many factors work hand in hand ... but all said its everyones own choice.

I like learning Polish, so it would be nice not to get shot just because I'm a foreigner who has his own opinions. It's not like the British or the Polish have a monopoly on topics here, and like I've said, you can also learn a lot about a country just by small talk and socializing a little. I don't understand members like George either. Why should I hide the fact I'm Dutch? Or not be here? Because this is a Polish forum? No it's not. It's an internet forum about Poland. If you can get more Polish people to post here then that would be great, but don't expect all the foreigners to leave. Because those foreigners are the reason you've made a site about Poland. (In English!)

:)

Am I wrong?

Not really. (I have one.) It feels a little like something on or in your skin is going from hot to cold and you feel a bit of a burning sensation. (And it bleeds a little!) It didn't feel like getting kicked at all to me?

Life / Girls in Poland shaving side of head!? [30]

We used to have that ''Gabber'' look in Holland back in '94, which looked pretty similar to these hairstyles, with the difference being that they shaved themselves bald underneath. (I still think it made girls look horrible!) This doesn't look *too* bad though, although I have to say I'd prefer long, natural hair on a girl..

:)
