UK, Ireland / Oxford Polish bride 'heartbroken' over arrest - accusations of sham marriage [126]

You need to get over yourself! If you heard the way these Poles talk about the local population in Polishl!

I know what they say but i m not lowering myself to their level. If you speak the same way about someone else then you simply have no rights to expect anyone else to change their ways.

Lol you would be surprised

I m not saying no one is interested in you but it would be weird if someone with some standards would be interested in a person who cant think on their own.

Polonia / Trip to Sweden - questions [39]

Hey there,
i m going to be in Sweden soon for a short trip. I m planning to stay in Stockholm. I would like to know if anyone knows about a nice hotel reasonable priced with short distance to Arlanda airport and with late check-in? Also, i would like to visit some cities close by, something what would be nice to see having only one or two spare days without staying there overnight. Anyone would have any reccomendations? I would be grateful for any tips regarding Sweden!

And one more - what currency can be there used? only swedish corona? is pound and euro accepted?

Thanks for help!

It only shows where you got your attitude from - from your "nice" mummy. I wonder if she is so "beautiful", looking at what you write about people, from the way you judge them etc she failed as a parent. I bet she and her sonny is ugly not less than those "villages who got imported from Poland recently". Shame that you cant see the hay poking from ur shoes - wiocha! Anyways, once Amathyst told you something about it, seems you didnt get it.

While i understand that lots of Poles currently residing in the UK have very low standards but making fun of someone's appearance shows only your not-very-nice character.

Man, I will never have a Polish girlfriend...brrr.

No worries, no decent girl (polish or no-polish) would want so shallow minded type who puts everyone to one box.

There are lots of people like that girl (she is only 19yo btw), not only from Poland and not only from Eastern countries. It is thoughtless of them to do such things but i m not sure who will suffer most - those girls/women or the others who will have to deal with people who got citizenship in such ways.

Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

yeah, you can't just become a blachara... you have to be born as one...

I would not agree on that - u are not born blachara, but the environment and many other factors make that u become one in some point. No baby is born stupid after all, it's just their potential is wasted.

Life / WHY DO POLES USE ENGLISH WORDS IN CONVERSATION? [396]

Well, i dont think people chose really what words to use, it just happens - when u speak english (or polish) most of the time, when u think in english/polish (that's the condition of being fluent in a language - u dont translate, u think in the language) then the word comes to ur mind (or straight to ur mouth?) and that's it. You realise what you said when u look at the faces of people whom u were talking to :P

Life / WHY DO POLES USE ENGLISH WORDS IN CONVERSATION? [396]

Sometimes it happens not coz people want to be seen as cool. When a person uses two languages the same time often it is hard to use one word in the exact meaning in which it has in the other language so people chose the easiest option and use the foreign word. But that's laziness, true.

And in some cases when you use one language mostly and u have little or no contact with your native language then you forget some words etc But that's natural, i think.

I also noticed from experience that sometimes i use English words (or Polish when talking English) and i dont realise that. I dont know if anyone has the same?

Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

It's like some people don't like to wash hands but were told to do so since they were small kids so they do it.

Yes but if a woman offers to pay her own then if he doesnt really want to pay for two then why not let her :S and then blame women that they are gold diggers and that all they want from men is money :S

Fairy muff. I wouldn't ever trust a woman either.

Good boy, women arent to be trusted.

When a guy really likes you, you shouldn't be surprised he wants to be nice to you.

I m not surprised, it's a nice thing but very often guys are nice when they are with a woman and then they are complaining that women expect from them to do some things.

I'm not looking for someone who wants to take care of me and be my mum

Taking care of someone = nice, being ur mum =bad.

So maybe you Beyonce-girls should really try to accept the fact that some guys just want to be chivalrous sometimes, because this kind of behaviour doesn't always mean they don't want you to be independent, and it doesn't always mean they're complete doormats either.

Normally when a guy wants to pay i let him; i can imagine that makes them feel nice as well (sometimes) that they may think about themselves as gentlemen etc. But so often a guy pays when he is with a girl and then he complains about that. It;s like split personality - if u dont want to pay then why are u paying and why u dont let a woman to pay her own? i dont understand this.

Now, if your goal IS to make the man loose interest, the best thing to tell him is that you're celibate.

Even more effective is to tell him that u had chlamydia lol

Totally agree, quite a few guys i know told me that here in Britain women hate it when you hold doors for them or offer to take their coat, they instantly snap and screech "I can do it myself!!!"

Those women are crazy; but i prefer to avoid the whole paying-etc things coz of the reasons i said above.

I saw a little scene in town recently and this Polish girl on a day out shopping with her (very smelly) Middle Eastern looking bf trotting on behind him in her little heels asking him to wait and he just barked something at her and carried on chatting on the phone to his mate

That was just rude. You can be on partners'-like level with your boyfriend and still he can treat you with respect, the same about girl. It doesnt mean that you would be some kind of slave.

Love / A Polish womans relationship with her mother in law. [44]

Yeah, i agree. Even if he was taking his wife's side he doesnt need to be rude to you. And she was nice before and everything, it seems he is the one who is isolating her and their baby from you.

Ewww i prefer to pay for my own, i feel flattened when he does pay but i prefer to be independent though

I was just thinking - the most off putting for both is when a person talks about his or her ex all the time, how much she or he hurt him/her and how much u loved him/her.

Oh man, i dont like when he takes my coat or pulls the chair up for me at a table but i like when he opens the doors coz sometimes (=very often) they are hard to open lol

UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

If you think deep frying is really cooking, so be it. By extension, frying is shallow cooking :)

Well, yes, i purposedly said cooking and not deep frying to point out there is lots and lots of oil :P while frying uses a little oil only so the fish wont stick to the frying pan. And it is not just little detail, it makes huge difference. I would say english fish (in fish and chips) is more like japanese tempura. The way of preparing makes big difference.

English fish and chips is different than polish one. I mean the fish is prepared differently. They cook it in oil so it is oily as hell, while Poles fry it. It makes a big difference though.

Genealogy / Polish Surnames Anglicized? [48]

Sometimes surnames change simply coz there is no letter in English for polish one, like Załęcki becomes Zalecki

UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

Oh, fish and chips. Try different types before forming an opinion. There is a fair difference between chippies.

Yes, i guess as i stated earlier - i just wasnt lucky enough to have good fish and chips perhaps.

As Brits, do u also like marmite? It seems national love - cheddar and marmite... and chicken tikka masala :P

Travel / Public Transportation in Poland [30]

Yes, i agree! i hate when people use german names to call polish cities. And i dont have anything against germans.

You better take bus no 175 and it will take u to the city centre. You can always ask someone on the bus where to get off if u know the destination. You will get faster where u want to be and u wont overpay (taxi drivers can charge u even 50 PLN or more for the drive! it's almost 25 times more expensive than a bus and not necessarily faster). A ticket(s) you can buy in the ticket machine just outside of the airport exit (straight out of the exit and then on right, u need to pass the taxi stops). You can chose English as display language in those machines as well, i think...

Love / Can 'engaged' soon to marry Polish men say I love you to their female friend? [62]

"I love you 'X' - Do you love me too?

I think that says it all - he has serious feelings for that other girl and he may be using you coz

And to think I built his website (And even wrote all the contents in it) all for free and I was at the stage of Search Engine Optimization and he did this. And there even is a huge auto-marketing task he 'requests' me to do.

and apparently using the other girl as well.

Perhaps it's better to finish it now, you dont want to worry all your life if he loves you or if he is cheating on you and as Amathyst noted wisely

What you do depends on how much you love him and how insecure you are.
