Work / What salary can be asked at IBM Poland? [67]

is it ok to survive in Katowice with wife and a 4 year kid

Yea, it's a pretty good wage, the average wage in Katowice is roughly half of that
Do plenty of research numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Poland&city=Katowice

Please let me what is the band level of this position and role n responsibilities ?

No idea, the only thing I know about IBM is that they helped the Nazis in WWII

Go luck making your decision

Work / Life of Foreigners in Warsaw - salary (supply chain specialist; logistics), monthly expenses [24]

After calculation my net salary is 6100 PLN

It's like I said before y'know, you won't like like a king. It's not a crap wage, but it's nothing special either.

If I was you I'd want more.

Like your rent is going to be 1000-1500 per month.
Food shopping 800-1000 per month
Internet & phone 200-300 per month
Travel (if you use public transport) I think in Warsaw it's 150 for a bus & tram ticket....I might be wrong
Electricity & Heating 200-300

That's your basic stuff

If you enjoy eating out, going to cinema, going to concerts/football matches then you're going to have to add all that in

September weather is usually decent enough, doesn't really get cold until January and thanks to climate change we've having shorter and shorter winters :)

Good luck with your decision

Work / Life of Foreigners in Warsaw - salary (supply chain specialist; logistics), monthly expenses [24]

what will be the basic cost for single person in Warsaw Poland?

Go to numbeo.com

It's OK money for a single man. You won't live like a king but when you consider that minimum wage in Poland is less than 2000zl you're be OK.

Actually that's gross......ask for me money, tax here is like 20% and I'm sure they'll deduct compulsory health & social insurance from you as well.

Make sure that those charge will be paid by the company.

I'd ask for more money it I was you.

Then you don't know your own history, smurfLOL

Oh Jaysus yea, I forgot about the Great Irish-Jewish Wars of the 1400 and 1600s.

Of man how could I forget about that?
Like 27 hundred million people died and something like 14 billion horses were killed too.
Indeed it was in the second Irish-Jewish war that leprechauns were hunted down by the Jewish invaders and were exterminated.

have become like couch potatoes, too concerned with comfort than with righteousness!!

with a can of VIP lager in one hand and something else in the other :D :D :D

People cheering for the police thanking for a hard work at protecting World Youth Days in Poland

That's nice though, the cops were probably bored off their faces for the whole event so nice that some people showed their appreciation.
Sure, us lot did the same in FRance a few weeks ago

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

InPolska used to be very "racist' towards the Polish people as the above quote of hers shows.

Fair enough, it's true she wasn't liked around here and she looked down her nose at everyone.
However, Polly digging up and old comment to fuel his racism/hatred is about as classless as the man is himself

UK, Ireland / Polish woman found guilty of murder in harbour drowning trial - Arklow, Co. Wicklow [4]

She was taking a huge risk though, what if she had got trapped trying to get out? Anything could have gone wrong

yea, I totally agree with you on that

but she should have reported his behaviour towards her, if not stalking, it's definitely harassment

Certainly, and the cops at home take a dim view of stalking and it's pretty east to get a restraining order. Don't know why she didn't change jobs and get away from him tbh. I mean she was a waitress and waitress jobs in a busy town like Arklow are ten a penny these days.

UK, Ireland / Polish woman found guilty of murder in harbour drowning trial - Arklow, Co. Wicklow [4]

A 29-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering a man by driving him into a harbour, where he drowned.
Marta Herda was a good swimmer and knew that her passenger could not swim, when she drove her Volkswagen Passat through the crash barriers at South Quay, Arklow shortly before 6am on March 26th, 2013.

It's a bit like the story from Germany last week where the guy killed the Polish girl becasue she rejected him. This time however a Polish woman killed a Hungarian guy becasue he was in love with her.

Very sad.

Full Story
irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/courts/marta-herda-found-guilty-of-murder-in-harbour-drowning-trial-1.2737278

It looks like he was obsessed with her and she cracked, if she'd pleaded guilty I bet she'd have gotten off with manslaughter too. Personally if I'd been on the jury I'd have found her guilty of manslaughter, I think she knew what she was doing but had cracked under the pressure. Then again, it looks like it was premeditated so that instantly means it's murder in common law.

Life / Why are the lines in supermarkets the slowest and the longest in Europe? Usually only very few employees work [18]

You need to learn a simple phrase.

'Proszę, można otworzyć nową kasę?'

It means please can you open a new checkout....I sometimes get a grunt when I do it but more times than not they ring their little bell and another one is opened whenever someone bothers turning up.

Y'know, I don't blame the people working there, I wouldn't work hard if I was getting paid pittance either, but I'm lucky that I'm in a big city and I can just drive to better shops

Life / Why are the lines in supermarkets the slowest and the longest in Europe? Usually only very few employees work [18]

I've never had to queue for more than ten minutes

Atch I'm jealous

My local Tesco is a nightmare, I prefer to drive the 10 minutes to Lidl than go there. Old people everywhere and the people on the tills must have the education of slugs or something. I spent 20 minutes this morning queuing with 10 others for one checkout while other staff stacked shelves and looked on in slack-jawed wonder. Only for the poor hound had no breakfast I'd have left.

It's a common occurance here too, so usually I do the big shop in Lidl. Also avoid all Beidronkas for the same reason, really slow. I wish they'd bring in those awesome self-service tills everywhere

News / Poland And the Pope: Not Happening, Apparently [58]

you avoid answering my question

You didn't ask a question.

Either PiS cannot count or you cannot read. Click the appropriate, but first decide if maths has issues with you or you have issues with PiS.

There's no question in your 2 sentences. Did you make a typo and leave out a question mark? I made a typo too. We have so much in common.

You also said 'click the appropriate' I guess you were supposed to add a link but you didn't.

Are you drinking already at this hour of the morning? Jaysus, it's well for some, wish I could have that kind of life :D

If it's a typo, it is a typo with what?

35 million, should've been 3.5m

We all make mistakes Ziemlok. He without sin throw the first prostitute at a rock....or something like that :P :P

News / Poland And the Pope: Not Happening, Apparently [58]

They're not big fans of Papież Franciszek.

I know about 30 people living in Krakow, all of them except 2 stayed. Everyone I know left to avoid it :D

The Polish church doesn't really like Frankie, y'know, he's all about living within your means, being charitable, welcoming refugees. The Polish church don't like those ideas.

Factor in the cult of Pope Karol here and it's really a mess.

Also, the PiS govt predicted 35million people would come to Krakow, it's only something like 10% of that, so many hotel and restaurant owners are pretty ****** off that the've invested monye hopeing for a massive windfall but instead they're gotten nothing more than a normal summer crowd for Krakow.

Lots of factors really.

Personally I think Pope Frankie seems like a decent type of guy, but a priest is still a priest and I wouldn't cross the road to meet him

News / Observance of Warsaw Uprising [17]

The head of the military wants to distract attention away from the fallen and the survivors of the uprising and make the obswervance about his Smolensk torture porn fetish.

That's really terrible.
Horribly disrespectful to the people who died trying to free Warsaw.

The veterans themselves have disinvited the military

Good on them, hope they stick to their guns. Macierewicz is a buffoon of the highest order.

USA, Canada / Polish mother in law wants to move in - what can we do?? [10]

I guess I'm here to get some opinions as to how to handle this situation.

Move away or in fairness this is a good idea

one of the ways out might be for your wife to get pregnant ASAP before letting you r MIL in

for the short term, however when the baby is born she'll be more determined to meddle

You're boned mate, best thing would be the move

Life / Hesitation to emigrate in Poland from Singapore with 8.000 zlotys a month job offer [9]

I had an offer for a Job in Poland for 8.000 zlotys a month

What city is the job in?
Personally I wouldn't move here for that salary. It's not bad, but it's not great either.
20% of that is taced and your rent will probably be 1000-1500 per month, so you'll have approx 5000zl left, take your travel costs and food from that and you'll have (300 food per week & 150 pertrol per week) and you'll have in and around 3000.

So you'll have less than 1000Euro for yourself per month.

Will that give you a better liftstyle than what you currently have?

History / Poles also killed innocents [32]

Certainly not an event to be proud of.

Certainly not

1938 is an excellent opportunity for all those British and Irish clowns on PF to jump on Poland in the hope of diverting attention from Britain, France and Italy happily signing a treaty with Herr Hitler in Munich in 1938 which allowed Germany to peacefully grab half of Czechoslovakia .

Touched a nerve eh?

Chill out mate

I asked an honest question of Crow, no need to be a d!ck. I understand it's your default setting, but we're all trying to be friends here now so maybe you'd like to withdraw your

Irish clowns

statement. I find that pretty offensive. I would never call bring your nationality into it.
Sure, I'd call you a clown, but one's nationality has nothing to do with such things.
So please edit or withdraw your xenophobic slur.

It sucks what Poland did on the Czechs, it sucks that the Czech stole that land first and it sucks that the allies went with trying to appease Hitler.

But it also sucks that the allies after WWI didn't allow Silesia to remain part of Germany when the Silesian people in two referendums voted to remain part of Germany.

But, y'know, that's history, we need to learn it and learn from it. Most people don't and that's why we as a race are doomed to constantly repeat the mistakes of our ancestors.

History / Poles also killed innocents [32]

That makes their crimes genocidal crimes against Poles. Polish crimes on Ukrainians didn`t have that dimension.

So where does that put the crimes of Poland against the Czechs?

weeklyuniverse.com/2003/poland.htm

Or when Poland invaded Czechoslovakia was it done bloodlessly?
Doesn't seem to be much if any data concerning how many lives were lost when Poland joined Germany to invade Czechoslovakia just prior to WWII
