Real Estate / Land sold in Poland... any problems getting money sent to U.K.? [35]

He now tells me he cannot do a bank transfer

Sounds fish to me, I do lots of transfers / purchases / land sales both in Poland and UK, Always bank transfer is possible and the best route becaus you can label the reason for transfer which makes things clear for both Polis and UK tax authorities, any gains must be declared on your anual tax returns otherwise problems happen.

News / Paramilitary war training in Poland's forests [4]

Yes sadly the children that fought bravely in the Warsaw uprising did not last long, but they decided to die fighting for Poland against the SS rather than be killed randomly out of hand in a basement.

Any training could prove invaluable for todays youngsters should they face a similar situation.

I guess Delph you are lucky, at the first sign of trouble the British embassy would have you airifted back to the UK.

Law / My Poland born father served in a foreign army - Polish citizenship questions [76]

Americans with no real connection with Poland, only a great-grandparent who left a century ago.

Well to be fair Jon you had your opportunity because you were a EU Citizen , but that is going to change with Brexit and sadly others from the UK will not be able to come to Poland in the same way.

Yes it may seem odd , but if folks have the heart to come to Poland and are interviwed and means tested financially, and pass background checks for criminality etc then why not give the a chance for initial residency and then a path to citizenship, in the same way you were given that oportunity, it only seems fair to me.

He isn't Polish.

You are right of course I meant milliband, I was just reading an article on tony , my bad sorry tony.

"Not really out of date - the law still stands for their descendants."

Well in my opinon that law is dated and needs to be updated to reflect modern day population needs of Poland

None of which involve the 1920 citizenship laws.

Well thats a bit out of date today, things like being in a foreign army were brought in to stop returnees who's traitor parents fought for the Bolshevics, Tony Blairs grandfarher for instance, Just imagine if Poland had let in Tony Blair and he became Polish prime minister what a nightmare.e

The thing is out of date and should be up for review, someone needs to start a petition.

Some people just don't fit the requirements.

But also some laws in Poland are not fit for purpose, If the current government in Poland is voted in for a second term then I think very many laws will change.

Current laws regarding citizenship should be tigtened in some respects, but also made more sympathetic to phose who claim citizenship by descent.

I'm surprised you aren't more sympathetic to them.

Well I am to a point but out of respect for my parents there is the problem of the Ukrains that came to our village one night to murder in support the nkvd

On this subject I must remain neutral and hope for a good outcome for all.

a. Yours too.

Don't think so now jon since its gone tits up.

As someone once sad if you dont like it get out so i did.

history of standing up to authoritarian regimes.

Don't make me laugh Jon they are nowhere near that, even Po wouldnt let in the the migrant hordes if they were in power, If they did it would be a token few to keep the EU peace, always banking on the fact that they would all soon scarper over the border to Germany.

Poles in post-war Britain had to apply for British citizenship.

This proves how naive or stupid you are when it comes to history read below and learn we didn't have to apply for citizenship it was foisted on us possibly due to our betrayel at Yalta.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_Resettlement_Act_1947

Funny I had to send a letter from UK Border force regarding my father as part of the recognition of my Polish citizenship , they have no record of him ever being a citizen or having a British passport.

and the nonexistent amount you've done

Oh yea you live around the corner and know what I have been doing in Poland these last years, you assume too much i'm afraid

Yeah so how come your homeland is refusing further Polish migration please answer, even marxist comrad Cobyn doesnt want us anymore.

it was the UK that offered to take hundreds of thousands of Poles who felt they needed refugee status

They never asked for citizenship is was granted on mass by an act of parliment, if Britain didnt want us they should have sent us back. Don't worry Dolno has paid back many hundreds of thousands of pounds in taxes for his scholling (Sic) and free milk.

Maybe you should have sent us back before the end of the war after all Britain never needed a few Polish airmen in the Battle of Britain did they.

Come to think about it Polish migrants were a big factor in Brexit, guess what they want Poles out of Britain now, fair play their choice as to which migrants they allow in , Harry you must be happy that Poland still wants you here unlike your homeland who wants to keep Poles out , tell me how you have benefited from life in your host country, what has your contribution been apart from badmouthing Poland at any given opportunity.

Britain won't even give that status to a few thousand Polish people anymore . It's disgusting.

News / Poland's Public TV News Propaganda "Wiadomości" hated by viewers [31]

Not quite but getting there.

16- to 34-year-olds, the core BBC audience, tuning into BBC TV plummeted 18%, or 6.2 minutes a day.

Most probaby Polish people are out enjoying family time with the extra cash the Pis 500 project has given them.

Poland should just open borders to Ukrainians

Yep and we should welcome Jews who are fleeing the growing tide of antisemitism across Europe, as we did before

Poland was home to the largest and most significant Jewish community in the world. Poland was the centre of Jewish culture thanks to a long period of statutory religious tolerance and social autonomy.

who personally benefited from refugee status

Get lost, name one act of terrorism on British soil by a Polish exile (or offspring) after WWII.

Then do me a list of Middle eastern Asian and African migrants (or their offspring) that have commited terrorist acts.

It;s all about risk assesment harry and the current lot are too high risk.

People like you and Doug are low risk, thats why Poland let you in. Doug must have been a super low risk if they let him in during the commie days, I had no chance.

Ukrainian workers are here. And it's not humanitarian.

Yes some truth in what you say, a million have work permits, cheap labor, is that not exactly what the British French, German colnialst did, effectivly using cheap labor to line the moneymens pockets at the expence of their domestic labor force who lost their jobs due to the cheaper imports.

So the Ukrainians can choose to come, not a perfect situayion for them I agree, but the hard fact is that no way will Poland bring in socially incompatible migrants (or have to deal with their radicalized offspring) like the ones who are currentyly raping pillaging and murdering European citizens.

It aint happening in Poland no way.

History / For what the Germans owe Poland one trillion U.S. dollars? [299]

Almost obsessively.

Yes a hot potato, But i do not think the subject or reperations would have been raised by Poland if her merkel has not tried to twist the knife into Poland over accepting her excess migrant hordes for whom she opened the door.

Call it tit for tat or countersuit, Poland is having nothing of her little maxist, trotsky (EU), commie, lefty globalist ideology

territory that the Soviets handed over to Poland doesn't count?
@ TheOther

That was supposed compensation for Polish land stolen by the Soviets in the east , very poor compensation considering I had to buy land in Silesia when my family used to own 20 times as much in the east, before it was stolen and they were sent to Siberia.

So no it does not account for what was stolen, or the half of my family that died of starvation and sickness in Siberia.

But I dont want a penny, what I do want is a new generation of Poles,German's and Jews that can move forward together and build a better future for all.

Life / Health cover for a married couple in Poland [70]

Things changed this year, well at least in the sticks where I live. not sure about the big cities.

See above posts

property that they can take to cover the cost of healthcare

Well exactly most of my neighbours live hand to mouth they have no savings and a family cannot be thrown out of their home, so they can play the system and win ( I won't judge them, I don't blame them doing it to get the basic needs of life), on the other hand people like the op and myself with some cash should pay our dues and count ourselves lucky that we are not part of the estimated two million in Poland who have no acess to healthcare.

So the moral is if you have the money then pay, If you dont have the money kombinować (cheat) the system, use the loopholes no one will think bad of you , some officials actualy help those who are in dire need fair play.

posturing on the part of PIS, and that nothing will ever come of it.

I read the same, but on the ground where i live a number of councilors and officials are adament that it is going to happen, interesting lets wait and see.

Meantine I guess some people will use the loophole / abbiguity of the situation to continue to get free health care, maybe as Delph said someone will come after them for payment at a later date, but these people have no money to their name so good luck to the komornik (debt collector).

I can always tell when the komornik is in the village, my neighbour has in own sofa in my woodshed to lie low.

Did you find anything more concrete than this?

More random articles but i did not save the links, I will dig out more when I get some free time.

What I do know is from a contact in the employment office who confirms that people are as of this year using the law change to get treatment past the old 30 day limit, their understanding is that in 2018 the system will become universal, as always in Poland things can change overnight without any real warning, maybe this will be a good sudden change, maybe it won't turn out to be as expected, we will need to wait and see.

Google "Likwidacja nfz 2018" read the articles I would be interested in your take of the situation as it stands.

he NFZ isn't willing to pay for it.

Thats the point the NFZ will be liqudated in 2018, the government will pay the healthcare providers direct out of payments made from taxes on the employed.

payments will be made to providers regardless of someones employment status.

To add many are already working the system now they are signing on and just stating they are currently covered by the unemployment office, no one is checking and they are getting treatment, maybe its because i live in the sticks and people are smart at playing the system since the law changed on providers not having to check payment status.
