UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

And now that new wave sees the chance to keep their brethren out.

better wages for low paid jobs for those who came here to work.of course

Cough. As I said - Poles aiming to vote to keep their brethren, who are not there already, out. Astounding.

the odds bookmakers are offering and it seems they think common sense will prevail

I was about to post the same. Money tells the tale. And a lot of folks questioned on the street would say OUT as a sign of bravado to their mates or whatever.

When their livelyhoods are threatened by Brexit and they are in the privacy of the election booth, they will forget about how charismatic Boris is, or how Farage says the England of Richard the Lionheart must be protected at all costs (it died with the post-war social reforms).

It's a shoe in, and even at 4-7, a lot of the rich will be filling their boots, like they did with the Scottish Independence vote.

will decide when they get to the polling station

That's terrible:) But would you or would you not agree Roz that Nigel has done a lot of harm to the Brexit case? I mean, you don't support this PIS shower, so why the love for Nige?

Short term it will be an upheaval for everyone

Nobody is leaving the EU at present PI, deffo not the UK.

Sorry to curb your enthusiasm for disaster and all that, just because of your outlining that "I'm alright Jack." Go and vote Brexit, that's your view, and I concur, but the young voters will have their say and Britain will stay in. I will bet my shirt on it.

Polish club in the UK (created by Poles just after the war)

I know what a Polish club is Dolno:) I spent a few of my teenage Sundays in one on Sherwood Rise in Nottingham (father's colleague). And I stick to my obbo. No offence or slight intended to the memory of that brave generation.

Even some Poles in the UK want us to vote out.

Are you surprised? Poles never help each other. Polonia who settled in the UK after the war absolutely despise the new wave of immigrants.
And now that new wave sees the chance to keep their brethren out. Pretty disgusting, in my view.

the thing is doug, you haven't lived here for years.

Yes you are right. We summer rented a house in Hammersmith a few years ago, and a hell of a lot of gangs were roaming the streets, and it wasn't the same place that I had lived in 30 years previously while at uni. Nothing stays the same.

I can assure you Doug that Farage is neither 'gormless' nor 'idiotic' , far from it

I will thank you not to compare a decent human being with a bigot.

Enoch Powell was a gifted politician and humanitarian whose career was tragically cut short by the "good-speak" of the times. You will well remember the political climate of those times though and the hard fight for anti-discrimination laws.

Nigel Farage,on the other hand, is an ex-banker and a racist, who is trying to press his outlandish views on the British public, and only the great unwashed and PIS are stupid enough to fall for his anti-immigration rants.

he had mental health issues and had been receiving treatment

Yes - I didn't know that when I labelled him as a racist thug. Obviously a very ill individual, but that goes without saying. How the hell did he get a licence for hunting? This really is very sad.

No respect for her just use her death for your own gain, how left of you, you couldn't care less.

Quite the contrary, and we know your political views, so why are you commenting? Cox was a careerist in the human aid sector, a tireless worker for refugee rights, and should be remembered for such, in this world where loudmouth bigots such as Farage and Kaczynski are encouraged by some to prosper.

the hooligans will not return to vote (likely majority brexit).

They can't write though, so how can they vote?

so still plenty of stories to swing the vote either side.

Startling vision:(
Two disgusting events have contributed towards a Remain surge today. The first, idiotically so, is Nigel Farages' gormless poster campaign against immigration, which the British people have rightly thrown out.

I guess it wont take long til PIS adopt it though....

The second (tragic) event is the murder by a racist thug of the Labour MP and refugee campaigner Jo Cox.

I am really sure that would not happen. Which newspaper said that anyway?

This referendum is just that - the voice of the people
Luckily, in this case all will be well. The polls are flawed and Remain will win. Bet your house on it. I was wrong about a bloody tennis match but Poles can rest easy. Brits know what side their bread is buttered on

PiS

Lis was saying in Newsweek that we have to be prepared for PIS maybe being in power for longer than the one term. If he is right I'll get my coat.

News / Poland leads in child well-being -- UNICEF [75]

Hoverer I think we can safely venture a judgment that at the very least nothing has been done to improve implorable, disgraceful and appealing circumstances of nearly million children in Poland.

The parents have to go where the work is. In the past, every town had a metalworks. To provide employment. In today's world, however deplorable the truth is, Norman Tebbitt was right. You have to get on your bike and go where the work is. And provide for YOUR children. Look the reference up.

Poland is too poor for socialism, and those of us who work hard for a living ain't gonna pay for people to sit around on "the farm" doing bugger all.

PS If succcessive governments cared at all, they would demolish the inner cities and half of Silesia and revitalise the cities. We have talked about this before. They refuse to act, and actually want to subjugate the poor. This PIS government will be only worse. Paying for booze and cigarettes. with the taxpayers' money.

News / PM Szydło support a bill to rebuild Polish shipping and ship-building [29]

small fraction of Polish society.

The huge majority of people here in shipbuilding land are solidly AGAINST Kaczynski Polonius - and that is a cast iron fact. I live here and all I hear on the street is the disdain for and fear of PIS.

And nobody will be fooled by this latest propaganda in an attempt to buy votes.
Stick to el topic please and less of the party political broadcast:)

News / Poland marching for life and family [132]

These people are not representative of Poland today, and are spreading PIS propaganda. Christopher Hitchens has famously rubbished birth control in Channel 4's "Mother Teresa: Hell's Angel" and in essay.

youtube.com/watch?v=65JxnUW7Wk4

The state again is allied to the catholic doctrine of subjugation to religion. and the more PIS push this doctrine, the bigger their defeat will be in 3 and a half years time.

The woman's body is her own private affair, and always will be, unless she is sadly weak enough to be indoctrinated in this modern age , that is.

I will. Ridiculous hyperbole. If we talk refitting, or smaller/ specialist builds, then we are in business. Trojmiasto has had amazing growth in contractors and maritime engineering - but the shipyards as they were are dead in the water - as per Clydebank in Scotland.

More PIS nonsense.

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

Half the undecided will make the choice in the Poll booth. Its impossible to know what will happen.

All perfectly true. It would be a disaster of titanic proportions. For Europe as a whole. I am not a conspiracy theorist but the British establishment will never allow Brexit to happen. The 18-30s will come away from the sea, sangria and sex and vote for Remain -

and the UK will stay in OUR Europe.
Otherwise I might shoot the dog and top mysen.

My daughter takes that bus to Krakow all the time. She pays the driver. It is first come, first served - or was, last year..............

No - my daughter says you must buy tickets for ini-bus and inter- bus at the kiosk /ticket office by the coach terminus outside hotel Katowice/ Korfantego. Rules changed last year. You cannot buy a ticket from the driver.
