News / Professor Zygmund Bauman, Commie-Jew, shouted down [79]

A very distinguished academic. In (I remember him there) Leeds University, since 1968.

I wonder why the thread title hasn't been changed to something less offensive though.

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

Jon357, it's your choice if you believe it or not

I believe what I saw with my eyes and which was also pretty well covered by photo reportage. You've been caught out lying in this thread already, so yes - I will choose sensibly what to believe.

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

By a rapidly growing number of the youngs, of course.

That tells us nothing. A bit like saying 'some think'. And since you tried to pretend that up to 100,000 attended that silly riot, and that it was 'nice' and 'not dangerous' despite all the injuries, ripped up paving slabs and burnt vehicles we can't really rely on your uncorroborated word, can we?

News / Polish scientist discovers drug for leukemia [15]

The pharmaceutical industry certainly has the infrastructure to produce it here. During the trials there is almost always an international element, however if this works it could be a real moneyspinner, aside from the benefit to humanity.

News / Polish scientist discovers drug for leukemia [15]

Great news fot the women herself and sick ppl but what do you think- what are the chances the drug will receive patent and will be produced in Poland?

How far along the clinical trials are they?

Life / Passport Photo Booth - Warsaw [15]

There's a booth in Warszawa Centralna (in the ground floor concourse) and the shop near the lower-lever exit to the bus stops specialises in them. If you can't use a phrase book, you can probably point at something in the shop.

Travel / Crossing Kaliningrad in a Campervan (Baltic tour) [3]

A beautiful place, but not much different from the places on either side in terms of countryside. And you'd need a visa as well as being at the mercy of Russian traffic police.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

In that case he must be a superb actor; oh, wait, we''ve seen him acting and he's rubbish at it too.

That's the key. He hates being proved wrong and has an absolute lack of humility. He'll cling on until the bitter end unless he's forced out. As he was forced out of office.

News / Anti-atheisation institute in Poland emerging [110]

Plent of people living in or originally from countries with Monarchies would disagree with you. They are in fact very compatible - since the Divine Right of Kings hypothesis is not universally held. The concept of Monarchy has evolved over the years (and was never absolute; there are majority Buddhist countries ruled by Monarchies - they dont have gods at all).

USA, Canada / Prayer, relgious symbols OK in public in Québec! Poland watches. [99]

If somebody decide to worship Hitler. would you be so supportive as well?

You're assuming I'm supportive of any belief. Some people do worship Hitler - even some users here. It's their right, whatever you or I might think.

Btw, try Wikipedia on the particular religion you're looking for - it is a better source.

News / Anti-atheisation institute in Poland emerging [110]

In France, the king was believed to be chosen by God. Evolutionary ideas were not the priority.

Indeed - and people are free to believe that if they want. The great achievement of laicity is that the laws which govern society are not based on such things. France does that very well.

When you were born in a small village, far from any big city, you were illiterate, barely spoke a proper language, so yes, you were doomed to a life in your small village, with an arranged marriage with your neighbours.

Indeed. And there are sections of society who believe this to be a good situation.

Travel / Polish LOT cancelled my flight... [7]

I use it all the time - unfortunately Star Alliance manage it badly. At least once a month I have to send the originals of my boarding pass in because they haven't credited one or more flights and nothing shows on their system when the incompetent in Frankfurt try to find a record of it. They are also very poor at responding to queries.

Travel / Polish LOT cancelled my flight... [7]

I've flown many, many times with LOT including transatlantic and had no problems. They are generally a good airline, though their frequent flyer scheme is problematic due to missing flights from the system.
