Life / Any one in need of a bulldog? A dog's life in Poland [39]

why would somebody want a bulldog?

Because they're awesome and look cool as hell.

Instead successive governments are weak and ignore the problem.

Doug the government doesn't care about peoples dogs. There is no will to suppress something that mostly rural poles all over the country do. It isn't the government's role to tell people how their dog should behave on their own property. Also, larger aggressive dog breeds are still seen by many rural poles as a work animal. That is why they don't pamper them like say a babcia and her jamnik. As long as they're not beating the dog and rheyre giving them some food and water, even if that water is so old it's now green, unfortunately there isn't much of a case for animal abuse. Neither is there much will to enforce such laws.

People have had guard dogs for centuries in Poland. That is the same in all parts of Poland but especially in towns or villages. If a dog isn't barking and wouldnt eat a person alive if he got through the fence then theyre not much good as a guard dog are they? However yes I do believe they should take better care of those animals. A guard dog isn't like a goat or cow where itll graze on its own. If its chained up it obviously can't get food and watee on its own and should be fed and given clean water regularly. Sadly even one part one the family doesn't treat their dogs well, or atleast what would be treating a dog well in my opinion as an animal lover. They treat them as just another animal on the farm serving a purpose. So they're not abusing it or starving it or anything but I always feel bad whenever I go there and see the nasty green water that looks like it hasn't been changed in a month or is just rain water that kept collecting. I spoil my pets though especially my Macaw now that my dog passed so I look at it differently. I look at is as a pet, a member of the family and not a beast that's on the farm. But that's how many people in rural areas view their dogs. I guess it's just a difference of how you view your dog - a pet or a farm animal meant to gusrd the place. Still though they should take better care of them even if they're meant just to be gusrd dogs.

I supppose the locals are used to it.

Bingo. Unfortunately they're also used to seeing malnourished dogs chained their whole lives so they become used to it. It's been that way for centuries though. But there are also a lot of people who treat dogs well although generally those tend to be ones who look at their dogs as pets, not farm animals

News / How Polish diaspora see future of Poland? as ethnic Polish state or just Polish in origin? [120]

Poles can't trust Trump. At the end of the day if there's any country/people Trump will help it'll be Israel and the Jews as the Zionists totally have his ear, even above Americans. Trump is primarily goox for Americans and Jews, poles are an afterthought and the only reason why trump had some support for poland is because he applauds our nationalism and not allowing the eu and multiculturalism to destroy our society like w europe. You wont find any migrants taking rape prevention classes here thats for sure. Poles unfortunately have very little lobbying strength in the us. Even the largest two groups both hq'd in Chicago don't have any teeth and are more about helping other poles and maintaining Catholic tradition. The proof in that is trumps support for the just act and how he refused to meet with the president during the Poland Israel spat. Will US come to the defense of Poland? Idk... maybe.. but far sooner than UK and France as they are now puny pencil necks of their former self and even when they were powerful they didn't help Poland esp UK. The only countries Poland can truly rely on are it's v4 partners and finally the government and people are realizing that.

Language / Polish words that sound funny? [224]

The fact that some of you can hear a difference intrigues me.

They don't, they just want to argue about the tiniest difference and say things like that the two don't sound identical 'at all.' There is the most minute different between c' and ch. They're not going by how it actually sounds, the topic of this thread....

Hopefully like hugh hefner. I'll settle for Donald Trump, putin el chapo or pinochet though... Or even slash but def not Obama trudaeu or juncker id rather be dead than be a b1tch cuck like them

Wtf is a pram? Sorry I don't speak the language of the United Kaliphate complete with sharia courts and thought crime police.

I said the pronunciation is SLIGHTLY different as ch falls in between c' and cz... nonetheless they SOUND (Title of the thread) almost identical. Check your hearing aid batteries if it's not obvious to you.

Right, I don't see how the two 'don't sound like each other at all'

Ill agree to disagree just so now you can share your knowledge on how a pole is supposed to argue.

argues like a dumb American teenager losing his temper and resorting to personal abuse.

Kind of like you ma-w-dupie-kutas? You should be the last person to say that as you regularly start with personal attacks whenever you don't like the opinion of a poster. If j were going for personal abuse I would've said somrthing a lot different and itd hilarious. As in the past some people would get all butthurt while others pm with headlines like lol, rofl, lmao, etc...

He can't even argue like a Pole

Polish people in Poland (where dumb pointless arguments are the national sport) don't do that

Bit of a contradiction... tell me maf, since you're an expert on this topic, despite not even being a pole, how exactly do poles argue? I need to learn from the expert so that in the future no one can accuse me of not arguing like a pole.

When you were here as Adrian K9 you said the following: "although I can speak, read, and write Polish very well I'm not a native."

I need to hire you as a secretary. If you can keep track of everything I wrote years ago on a forum for free im sure you'll do wonders organizing our filing cabinets if paid.

But no sh1t Sherlock, I wrote the same thing above that even though I was born and raised in poland, like other members, doesn't make me a native speaker:

Doesnt mean that i know polish to the extent of a dude whos lived there his entire life

Maybe focus a little more on comprehension instead of pronunciation...

dirk what are you thinking to be so rude to a woman

It's an internet forum.... Besides I don't know atch from Adam. For all i know atch could be a man pretending to be a woman, then we'd all feel really stupid. And saying a person is full of sh1t isn't being that rude it's a pretty common phrase, calling a woman names like b1tch or **** is. Besides, considering she appears to have written several things indicating she's one of those female equality types she can get use to be treating like a man would. That's what they want afterall...

No, they really don't. Not at all .
@ Jaskier

Not at all huh? IPA ponunciation shows otherwise, that they're nearly identical. You must not know either polish or English if claim those two words don't sound like each other 'at all'

en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/by%C4%87
Pronunciation
IPA(key): /bɨt͡ɕ/

'lekarka'

That's been used a long time. Polish is flexible where you can add endings to words to make them sound cuter/smaller or to apply to a gender. I.e. ksiazka and ksiazeczka, Michal vs Michalek...

What about 'psycholożka' or 'socjolożka'?

Piosenkarka lekarka farmaceutka or even listonosz vs listonoszka etc are used but generally I think psycholog would still be used for the femine. Still though many people don't change genders for certain roles. I've heard struz but never struzka for example or rolnik but never rolnika for.feminie

Three native speakers already answered you. Ziemowit, Gumishu and Ironside are all born and raised in Poland.

I was also born and raised in poland with polish being my first language. Doesnt mean that i know polish to the extent of a dude whos lived there his entire life and gone through every level of school in poland, which unless im mistaken no one here has. Have they all continually lived in Poland for atleast half their lives and speak polish daily? Have they attended grade school, high school and university all in poland? Is polish still their first language and the one they speak primarily? If no then id rather listen to someone who meets that criteria, like my polish family and friends who lived there their whole lives.

Nometheless it doesn't take a person who meets all those criteria and is a native polish speaker to understand that byc' and b1tch sound identical. Furthermore, an English accent in polish pronounces certain vowels especially when next to an r differently, not consonants. Just because I'm a Pol am doesn't mean I can't tell the difference between c' and cz, which I've pointed out above how they differ but both habe a slightly different ch sound.

And on that note, personally I hope i never lose my English accent in polish. That alone has gets me plenty of attention from the fairer sex who tell me 'ale fajny masz akcent' but also 'plynnie mowisz po polsku'

You are not Polish,

Seeing as citizenship, genes and place of birth generally are the determining factors of a person's ethnicity id say you're so full of sh1t that your eyes are brown

Life / Russian citizen wants immigrate to Poland [39]

The more jobs available, the more foreigners will come to Poland.

Im not talking about ukranians or chechens that are mostly economic migrants looking for higher wages. Im talking about western europeans. There's plenty of jobs in their home countries and other western European eu countries, generally far higher paying than Poland too. Yet the western europeans came to poland knowing theyd make less, if lucky the same, but almost never more than their western european homes or other we countries. So i doubt its mainly because of money and work for them as opposed to ukranians. Its the same reason as why tens of thousands of poles who lived and worked in the UK since 04 have been returning and why several pf members left their home country to move to poland even though they could make far more at their same job - they prefer Polands quality of life, culture, society, etc.

What crossed my mind is that Europe easily may sunk in Nazism,

If Europe became fascist thatd be the lesser evil instead of it becoming a Muslim caliphate. Considering there's already radical Muslim politicians, sharia courts, sharia patrols and the number of Muslims is exploding there's definitely going to be a few radicals that take advantage of the situation and try to become politicians with an openly Muslim agenda.

how to establish balance between keeping to your way of life, values and race, while not becoming racist, fascist and isolationist.

Thats what polans hungary czechy etc is trying but imo its impossible at the moment. If yoh dont want islamic terror you have to say you don't want Muslim migrants and deal with the accusations of islamaphobe racist etc. Thankfully poles don't care about such labels. As the saying goes, sticks and stones may hurt my bones but names will never hurt me. EU pushes multiculturalism and destruction of European identity to be replaced by a leftist utopia where Europeans are subjugated, told they are evil racists and their punishment is to allow africans and muslim.migrants to rape and pillage their countries. As such there must be a force to oppose that, and that's what we're seeing now.

Life / Russian citizen wants immigrate to Poland [39]

Crow we will see that. Not just a few Dutch south africans, but more do western Europeans. Already quite a few Germans, French, Italians, Portuguese, Spaniards etc moved to Poland and I'm sure there's many in Slovakia Czechy Hungary etc. Many western Europeans are very unhappy with the direction their country is going. We're already seeing a big uptick in migration from these countries and it's not going to stop - it will not only continue but grow. We even have quite a few people here from UK, Ireland,.us etc. Why did they all come to Poland? A better overall quality of life.

Soon germany will be trying to keep the natives from leaving instead of welcoming invaders to make their lives miserable. The more terror, crime, rape, taxes, trash everywhere, big groups of migrants hanging around the subways and train stations, riots, arsons, and generally lower quality of life the more western europeams will seek countries where such things aren't a problem and they can live without fear of being a native European.

Language / Polish words that sound funny? [224]

Oh and fyi notice when you say the cz in czarny, czuwaj, czlowiek, etc your cheeks and tongue especially the tip are in different spots and hence comes out ever so slightly different than say c'pac', c'ipa, and of course byc'. But notice though that your tongue makes the same motion when you say English ch as in b1tch in English and byc's in polish, but not czarny or czlowiek. Therefore the c' in the case of byc' and tch in b1tch similar, same with the rest of the word as by is same as in byk, byl, bydlo, etc and b1tch, bill, bid, biscuit, etc. Furthermore, the polish saying for English chips as in potato chips would be pronounced c'ipsy, not czipsy and most would spell it either c'ipsy or chipsy if they also knew english. Making me right, you and atch wrong.

Would a native polish speaker please stand up? I want to hear what they say (Crickets....)

That's the one thing you pick up on? Not the explanation to the question you asked regarding of c' and cz vs ch and how it differs from s' and sz?

Whoever said I'm not? I'm perfectly happy with who I am and my. I truly feel blessed and quite frankly lucky to be a Pole. If i were german french etc id be ashamed that my countrymen allowed an invasion to destroy our country and discard our thousand yesr old culture.

Language / Polish words that sound funny? [224]

Both are correct. Ch falls in between a softer cz and harder c', imo closer to the c'. Its not like sz and s' which sound very different. I cant think of any examplr where cz wouldnt sound like ch but softer like in czarny the ch isnt as pronounced. But the tch in b1tch most definitely sounds just like the c' in byc'. It depends on the word. Same as c'pac' which both c' have a stronger more pronounced ch sound.

defensive?

I'll take that as a no.

Also this thread is about polish words that SOUND funny, not intricate linguistics, and i doubt anyone here has an bachelor's let alone a PhD in linguistics or polish language anyway. We don't even have a single true native speaker here as every polish speaker here it's either their 2nd/3rd etc language and the few people who's language it is their 1st don't speak it as their primary day to day language and use English. Even amongst corporate types in Poland more and more people are using English in their roles than polish but atleast they still communicate with family and friends in polish. Everyone's experience is based off hearsay - I heard, my husband told this, polish people told me that, etc. If you want to discuss the linguistics of the polish language I'm sure there's a thread for that.

This thread is for discussing words like foka, byc, cipa, etc etc and how they sound funny. No one cares about dissecting the linguistics of foka's or byc's or cipy

you probably have a Polish American accent that maybe merges cz and ć

Most definitely not. Same with rz/z* and z' or s' and sz

you =/= 99.9 % of Polish speakers..

Do you speak write and read polish? Are you polish born and raised? All of the above? Because I am.

Speaking of 'cheap' reminds of a similar sounding polish word that can describe several people here - cipy or singlular cipa. I.e. mafketis jest cipa.

Language / Polish words that sound funny? [224]

They are not pronounced identically. Perhaps one of our native Polish speakers here will confirm.

Just did. And here's my confirmation as a polish speaker that byc and b1tch are pronounced the same, or at least to 99.9% of polish speakers

The 'y' in być is pronounced in exactly the same way as it would be in for example 'jogurt pitny'

The y in byc sounds just like the y in byk or byl or brudny and therefore the same as the I in b1tch... unless ur husband is a goral or speaking in some.weird dialect he doesn't know wtf he's talking about.

You really think a person hearing byc or b1tch will know the difference? I highly doubt it... byc = b1tch.. But sure go argue bout it some more smdh

Language / Polish words that sound funny? [224]

Thats a good one dolno. Forgot about that one.

@Atch
Wtf are you talking about? Byc and b1tch are pronounced identically. Ask anyone who speaks polish and English. Both have the same ch sound, tch in b1tch and c with a line over it in byc and the b1 in b1tch and by in byc have the same pronunciation... kind of like the bi in bid or bill or bicker, not bi in bite or bisexual or bile. There is no other way to pronounce either... except maybe English b1tch which some say beotch, biatch, etc. Byc' = b1tch

And pelny sounds nothing like pony... The el sounds closer the ell in fell but still a tad different due to the l with a line through it.

Polish is pronounced exactly how it's spelled. It's not like English where letters have multiple sounds and there's tons of exception. In that sense polish is more like Latin or Spanish or even Czechy or Slovak

Love / It seems everyone is so isolated here in Warsaw [11]

@Rich Mazur

Amen to that. It's pathetic how many people fall at one or the other end of the spectrum - skinny pencil necks and fatasses... both groups couldn't do a single pull up and have the t counts of an 80 year old. And that is FACT, the average western man has the t counts of an 80 year old. A couple soy boys from buzzfeed did this experiment and all were abysmally low. Surprise surprise, all were leftist liberal cuck boy pencil necks who talk like fags and eat soy instead of steak. The pussification of western man is in full swing. Now you even have feminazis giving hours long speeches on 'toxic masculinity.' On the other hand women are encouraged to basically take over man's roles and be the dominant assertive ones while men are passive. Naturally men who have 'switched genders' are exempt.

They can talk all they want about how masculinity is bad and how women should be like men. At the end of the day men are attracted to fit beautiful women with big breasts and child bearing hips, not their degrees or their titles. On the other hand, women are attracted to dominant ******* men who are in good shape and are confident and can provide security. Thousands of years of evolution cannot be changed no matter how much the left complains and try to turn men into women and women into men. Quite frankly it's a good thing that there's so many leftist soy boy pencil necks with voices like a gay guy, less competition for alphas.

Most of the women seeking nsa type relationships won't go straight up telling you that's what they want, especially in Poland. Those types generally stick to the web and members only clubs/groups which aren't as prevalent in Poland as UK germany or USA.

guy unless you are very good at this culture or grew up here and have very high testosterone and the ability to get over shyness and inhibitions

If you're not confident you're not going to get anywhere whether its eith women life or business. That comes not just from personality but a lot of it is simply by having a high t count which naturally manifests itself into being a man who is more assertive and confident in all aspects of life. I recommend working out, taking t supplements if you must, avoiding soy products and dairy and your t levels will go up drastically. Lifting is one of the best things you can do to maintain high t levels.

There's also some good reads like gorilla mindset. Reading is only half the battle though, you have to take action. If nothing changes, nothing changes...

Life / Russian citizen wants immigrate to Poland [39]

Reality check: 3/4 of poles reject third world migrants, so yes in Poland and several other nations those who reject turd world migration and forced multiculturalism absolutely are the majority. The majority of poles don't want turd world invaders, and the majority of poles support right wing parties that's why pis has 2-3x the level of support and pis and kukiz together are over 50%

As long as poles is ethnically homogenous and there isn't a bunch of turd worlders raping and pillaging, that's good enough for me. And seeing as how poles really dgaf about being called xenophobe or islamaphobw that's how it'll remain, much to the eus dismay now that they've totally given up on forcing Poland to take in muslims... And that's good enough for me = )

So go try western Europe, because the majority of polish people don't want that sh1t in their country and thats a CBOS FACT. Polska dla Polakow. And now Italy Czechy Austria Slovakia Hungary and even some Germans are waking up and rejecting multiculturalism preferring to keep their countries foe Europeans, not third world africans and Muslims who don't want to work, contribute or assimilate

News / EU confirms it will take action against Poland over court reforms [554]

Would they be allowed to let murderers and paedophile walk free from justice?

The EU and UK has protected peados especially those politically connected as in the case in Belgium. Same with the paki rape squads. It's only when their activities become too public and people start complaining that they do something about it.

Where is the Justice for my mother and father and the hundreds of thousands either murdered, starved to death in Siberia

I hear ya. We went through the same. Im not expecting any justice or compensation for those family members or their descendants. Neither from germany or Russia, although with germany there may still be a chance.

See atch told you pis has no intention of leaving the eu. If they did they wouldnt give a sh1t what the eu says. But for now theres money coming in and eu membership remains popular among poles. Id prefer Poland to leave after this next round of funding before they become a net payee, but it is what it is. I think that once poland has to pay into the eu the support for remaining a member will decline.

These commie 6 term judges, the ones clearly working against Polands interests and those stuffed by po need to be immediately purged.
