History / Why is Poland weaker than Russia? [390]

And yet we are still considered the richest country on Earth. Tells you something about the state our planet is in.

Just as every drunk thinks he is sober. Or, at the worst, "off-ficer, I I I only had a couppple of.."
Being in denial is often the only way to stay sane.

Our planet is fine. It's the moron American voters that are not.

Again, my apology for going sideways.

In the first case the victor soon suffers too, in the second case the victor is flourishing.

22 trillion - and growing - of unpayable debt, 800 billion of trade deficit, unworkable mutual defense treaty obligations, the Latino sewer emptying itself out into the US will never register in anyone head is "flourishing" or even remotely connect with "victor".

And Great Britain before the Brexit, back in it's day as an world spanning Empire

...and, man, did the idiots pay for it dearly. Sometimes, before you give out passports to what looks brown and prays five times a day on a funny carpet, it's good to be sober and bang your head on the wall at least six times. When the headache is gone, ask yourself this: what if all of that Pakistani scum decides to move in with us and likes it enough to never leave. Duh.

All the "flow" talk is bs. If it is a measure of exploitation, the US is the single most exploited country on earth. The American wealth has been flowing to Europe and Asia since 1945 at a rate so unsustainable that it puts the country's long term survival into question.

The USSR behaved like a victor and took many things from Germany. Good. I only wish the Americans weren't as stupid as they are the way they always lose wars and never, ever benefit from them when they win - if ever.

Germany should be grateful the Soviets didn't claim part of it as its own forever.

What Russia did for USA?

Soviet Union won WW2 and saved many American lives in Europe just as the two nukes (I love them both equally) saved many American lives in Asia.

They were humanitarians but misunderstood and wronged. Poor Soviets Samaritans the world is so ungrateful. LMAO!

That debating technique of running to the end of the scale will get you nowhere. Every a-hole mother accused of abusing her kids does it with that stupid, "I never said I was a perfect parent". No s***.

So you are a proud of being called the Russian troll? Why? Aren't you an American? Do you hate your own country?

Same s*** here. I never said I was proud. I wrote "it didn't make me feel bad", paraphrasing.
Let me explain the difference between "proud" and "not feeling bad" by this example. Never mind...

Finally, why loving my country and liking Russia must be mutually exclusive? How about the US and Canada? At least the Russians liberated Poland and lost millions of their men in the process. What did Canada do for Poland?

...before the Paki invasion.

If the Paki invasion is so good that it got all the blessings from the Brits, why did the Brits resist Germany with all the destruction and death? I mean, what could possibly Germans do to the Brits - if they occupied them as they did France - that would be worse than the Islamic invasion? London would get a German mayor? I would take that any time over that moron London has now.

Don't take "today" literally.
The Russia haters still can't get over Crimea and call it "annexation". Or that Russia is upset by the malignancy known as NATO - a tumor that never stops growing. Or what happened in Ukraine right at the Russia's doorstep.

I don't know when you joined this forum, so, fyi, I am known here as a Russian troll. I have no idea why and why that label is supposed to make me feel bad.

Some day somebody will explain to me what the US gained from the collapse of the USSR. If the answer is that we got rid of an enemy, then, why is the US feeding that monstrosity called China. Oh, I got it: because the minorities like $500 Nikes. Shoes to kill for. That's why.

I realize it's off the subject - at least partially.

After what the USSR went through during WW2, I wouldn't blame the Russians for anything they do today.

I wrote this because I need my next paycheck, according to some geniuses here, not because it makes sense.

I am so sorry. I meant $5000.

Here, no serious source can point to any compelling evidence that it was anything beyond an unfortunate accident....

...possibly caused by the Polish pilot who ignored the tower when they told him about the bad weather ahead.
The unanswered question seem to be if the pilot was ordered to proceed anyway by somebody on the plane, which he did fearing that he would be fired if he refused and followed as advised by the Russians. Also, a total lack of motive. What would the Russians gain? As sick as it was, their gain from Katyn was clear.

Life / Do Polish parents let/encourage their kids to **** outdoors? [40]

A year ago, after my first nostalgia trip to Poland, I commented on the very same thing. Including the abysmal hygiene in at least the school in Radom where I happened to be. Yes, a-holes, I was allowed inside and had to chance to see the boys' restroom - with no toilet paper, no soap, and no towels. When I asked why, the answer was that they would steal, so it would be a losing move to supply such luxuries. Yum.

The large majority of any given population is not rational. That's why democracy in a long term usually leads to socialism.

Brilliant. Couldn't say it any better. Democracy eats itself into bankruptcy in slow motion. I have zero doubt that the word "sustainable" goes better with China, Russia, and Singapore than with the US and the UK.

I apologize for going off the rail but I found Spike's comment irresistible.

Truer words are rarely spoken, but you still forgot one Polish biggie: no matter what, the first answer is always "no". That's where they start way too often to be just a one-off case that happened to me because I was mean. To survive here, they have to drop that s**t but takes some time and effort.

Dirk, the whole point is that saying, for ex. Jews are natural-born business genii,

Then, I am sure you have a very simple and compelling explanation why the Fed Board of Directors is mostly Jewish. And so were the chairmen. Plus Janet. That in a country, the US, where the Jews are 3% of the population.

Life / What do you generally think about Poles? [62]

What's so special about atheists? What makes them better than Catholics?

No atheist ever refused to take his kid to a doctor because God told him to pray, instead. And that's just the beginning...

...or even worse, a couple who are Polish .... they decide not to speak to their children in Polish.

We are that couple. Worse yet, we don't speak Polish between the two us alone, either. Ever. Even when arguing. That is also in English.

The reason is very simple. In my 50 some years here, I instantly knew who speaks Polish at home. It's always lame and with that heavy accent. I wouldn't have been promoted to management had I been stuck in that Polish mentality. That would mean about half a million bucks before taxes in the bonuses alone that I would have lost without that promotion and another so much from my salary that was higher than what the engineers reporting to me were making.

My point is that living on a Polish plantation in the US is very expensive. BTW, my kids never had any mental complications from no knowing a word in Polish.

Should have been "the two of us", so don't tell me that my English sucks.

please keep to the topic

Law / Lawyer familiar with EU law needed (to sue my employer in Poland) [65]

Read the Treaty of Lisbon, article 20.

I don't have to because I can read the only document that matters - my Polish passport.
If I were an EU citizen, parallel and equal to my Polish and the US citizenship, I could walk into an EU office somewhere to renounce my EU citizenship.

Where is that office? I would appreciate the address and the phone number.

EU is a contract. Period. A piece of paper or a file on some computer. Just as the UN and NAFTA. Under this contract the residents are given certain freedoms. NAFTA allows for free movement of goods and capital. EU allows people to move and work. The EU citizenship is a fake political move to create a greater illusion of belonging.

So, one more time: where can I go and renounce my EU citizenship without renouncing Polish? I know how to do with my US and Polish citizenship, so that should be an easy question to answer.

No matter how much you try and argue about this, the fact remains that EU citizenship exists and is used on a practical level daily,

Just because it exists, it does not mean that it's not meaningless. A simple test: just remove Section 1 from Article 20 and change Section 2 as follows:

Now: 2. Citizens of the Union shall enjoy the rights and be subject to the duties provided for in the Treaties.
Changed: 2. Citizens of the member countries shall enjoy the rights and be subject to the duties provided for in the Treaties.

Poof, just like that the EU "citizenship" is gone and nothing has changed.

The facts that I can't renounce it is proof positive it's a feel-good fake.

Nope. That's just your "trollish" interpretation which has no legal binding in reality.

You are right and they are all wrong.
I just looked at my passport issued in August 2018. The page with the picture has this line: Obywatelstwo/Nationality/Nationalite and underneath POLSKIE/POLISH/POLONAISE.

Nothing about EU except that on the front cover there is this: UNIA EUROPEJSKA and RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA.

As expected a bunch of ignorants have turned this thread into a joke while playing with words.

No, you did.

A normal person would simply say: I live in the US and this is what happened. Can I sue? And, if so, how do I find a lawyer?

It could have been that simple.

Legally, one CAN say "I am an EU citizen from Germany or France.

Normal people wouldn't say that. This guy and his case are not normal, so just another abnormality.

I feel for you, Spike. Every country has its Pravda. We have CNN, you BBC. Wonder which one is worse.

Rich, there is no case, more like a cry for attention. A serious person would not search for a lawyer on a discussion forum.

To my credit, I was the first to see through the crap. I give my bulls*** detectors a tune-up at least once a week.

No, unless you are a lawyer and you would like me to pay a visit in your office and compensate you accordingly.

Hey, genius, how the hell is anybody here going to advise you if your "case" is a mystery? Getting a ticket for jaywalking is not a violation of your civil rights. Unless you are black and can show that whites are exempt. Got it?

That was pro bono.
