The political mood of PO, if you're into polish politicis you'll realise that PO is the only party presenting the leftist western outlook (apart from SLD and SDPiL).

The majority of Poles are against indiscriminately open borders and total privatisation (luckily).

Actually Wałęsa is a celebrity US-wide, self-made man and all that, he's known better than any German or Pole (for that matter Wałęsa is better known in US than John Paul II...).

As for JP II he's known more then any German primarily because he's recent and at least as far as America is concerned European eggheads or artists dont exist, most Americans have no idea about Kopernik and when you ask them about Bethoven they recall a dog from a family movie.

The price averages 1600-1900, 2500 is at least 500zl overpaid.

I'm not saying it's cheap, but hey, it's not exactly a ripoff.

If there's people willing to pay for it its obviously not a ripoff, anyone who can dish out such money for such an offer must be well off anyway.

Convex i'm in Poland now and i'm in Wrocław, i also rent a flat to people so i know the numbers, 2500zl is what a flat in the centre of the old town goes for, this baby is a solid 800zł over the market price.

Then again if there's people stupid enough to overpay then it justifies the price i guess.

This is why I am in favour of the Swedish system. Where you can get credit for over 150 years. They buy houses with the intent that when they move their children will take over the payments and therefore be able to afford to live a decent life.

I've read in today's paper that the man would have lived had the cops not been pelted by stones while trying to help the then injured guy. They we driven away.
He was shot in the thigh, but the femoral artery was cut.

This pretty much closes the discussion.

Cops shot him 100% according to regulations but he had bad luck for which they wont be held accountable, his mates killed him by acting the way blacks do though.

What do Polish people think about Belorussians. Politics and Lukashenko's regime are not the topic of this theme, cuz everyone knows that it is really terrible.

Not much, Poles who never been to Belarus generally dont have any opinion about Belarussians, the street is fairly neutral to them.

Those who were in Belarus or are interested in it view Belarussians in a generally positive light, you guys have it hard and Poles are symphatetic, older Poles since they remember how hard was it in Poland and younger Poles by example of the older generations.

Personally i find people in Belarus very friendly, the country is p*ss poor and horribly depressing but the people are great.

Is there any debate in the Polish parliament or is Poland, like the rest of europe, about to become multicultural by default?

We're a strongly catholic country thats been monolithic as a society for the last 65 years, the first major ethnic issue is going to cause an instant backlash of deportations etc, i'm not really worried about our politicians bending over.

Its important for Poland to debate, inform, and legislate for the impending "enrichment". As sure as night turns to day, Poland will eventually get its share of mass immigration.

Whether we accept it or not is another matter, personally i'm all for selective migration, Europeans who've been around for at least six generations (this allows us to avoid spelling it out along the lines of "no blacks or arabs allowed").

Not really, if police raided the market most or all of the traders were illegals, if so they have reasons to lie.

Let's just regard this as a tragic incident in which a couple of ppl made the wrong decisions and one person is left dead

Witnesses are other illegals who assaulted the police officers and have every reason to lie in order to cover their own asses.

Only the Police's own press office (not a paragon of neutrality)

Not that good if someone paid as a plain-clothed police officer with taxpayers' money to keep the peace lets him/herself get in a situation where a suspect can "attempt to wrestle the gun from its holster"

In 90% of situation of a police officers work when he needs to ID a suspect in all countries there exists a risk of a police officer being disarmed.

If he tried to disarm the police officer and shot himself by accident or got shot in self defence everything is A-OK thats the kind of behaviour that can and should get an assailant shot.

Please, keep your language in check.

Well he was on his way to become an armed assailant and got shot for it, good for our police too.

You go for a police officers gun you get shot, i dont really see any problem here.

are we sure that the cop who fought over the weapon was actually the one who fired the fatal shot.

it reads like, they ran after him, wrestled him to the ground and while the police man was trying to put on the handcuffs, the assailant went for the gun.

Well its even easier to go for the gun in close quarters, he probably got shot in the commotion rather then self defence, Darwin Award if i ever saw one.

And if the officer was plain-clothed, where was the holster?

Variety of places but if he had a jacket the gun would be concealed at its usual place at the waist, an easily accesible place.

the truth is probably rather different. Let's hope the killer is brought to justice and isn't just allowed to hide behind his badge.

Lets hope not, he (the police officer) had likely every right to kill the assailant.

Simply captain stupid, you assault a policeman and try to wrestle the gun from the holster which is what he apparently tried to do.

Polish police procedure calls for a warning shot and then shooting the limbs, if the situation prevents warning shot its the limbs again, if the guy got killed he clearly attempted something stupid and got rewarded with a Darwin Award and a bullet.
