History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

We should have joined Hitler

Hardly 'we' since you're a citizen of another country and were born in the 1990s!

Are you trying to say Polish natives were worth the sacrifice of Israeli's?

Israelis?

With Polands help, Hitler defeats and occupies Russia.

Germany's defeat in the Soviet Union was so decisive that it would have taken more than 'Poland's help'.

Do I really have to bring up Dunkirk?

Or Normandy.

Instead today, Poles have to do lower paying jobs in England. What a stupid decision to fight Hitler.

What sort of 'jobs' would they have had in a Reich that regarded them as racially inferior?

Study / Information about MBA Study in Poland - Polish Academy of Sciences? [8]

Merged: MBA - Polska Akademia Nauk - does anyone have any experience?

Does anyone have any experience of the 1 year MBA programme offered by the Polish Academy of Sciences? Either the Executive MBA or the English language alternative?

It seems very flexible, and certainly a lot cheaper than the SGH one - but is it any good?

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

Sacrificing citizens would have saved natives

That doesn't make any sense unless you make a morally obscene distinction between citizens.

Couldn't we have joined forces with Hitler and then switched sides at the end (We wouldn't have lost though) like most of Europe did?

You would have lost.

History / 1939-1945 British war medal awarded to Polish Soldiers.Waiting to be delivered!! [32]

The government in exile wanted to remain to be regarded by its "allies" as the only representation of Poland which it was in fact.

As Harry just pointed out, they wanted to be treated differently to the other Allies. Allies like France and the US. As for being the 'only representation of Poland', please remind us if all this happened before or after they split into two competing governments-in-exile.

Sure some people would want them Captain Obvious, so what? Don't you think it is possible that equal number of ex-servicemen didn't

We can only deal with the facts. In this case that the medal was requested by Polish ex-servicemen's organisations and none are on record as having objected.

History / 1939-1945 British war medal awarded to Polish Soldiers.Waiting to be delivered!! [32]

Actually, the remnant of the government in exile very much did want to, Ironside. In any case, this is about a medal, not a parade. A medal that you think nobody would want, despite Polish ex-servicemen's organisations specifically requesting it be struck. I think we can safely assume that those who requested it do in fact want it.

Odd that you're using 2 different names in the space of an hour - which do you prefer to be addressed by?

Life / Help with icons, signs on washing machine (from Poland) :P [17]

It should be ok - the temperature is the only thing you need to be really careful with - if in doubt choose lower rather than higher.

Maybe the owner let the instructions somewhere. You can ask him/her, it could save you some time ;)

If not, they're almost certainly available online ;-)

I doubt that, Ironside.

Even though their own former government-in-exile instructed them not to participate in the victory parade due to disagreements between themselves and the Polish government, many were very keen to and of the hundreds of thousands (around half of those involved) who chose to remain in the UK there have always been many keen to celebrate the bravery of their fallen comrades and remembering public their own service.

Study / My experience in Poland (Poznan) as a student who recently moved from Syria [117]

Agreed 100%

a piece of advice, just in case), turn the radiators to the maximum heating power because when the heating period will start they will be filled with water and they have to be turned to the max.

Let's hope they're well maintained in his building - I've lived in places where the system hasn't been flushed out for decades and the heat never reaches above the second floor!

Work / 3500 PLN gross - not happy with my salary (working in Warsaw for an international company) [55]

At that rate, there is little reason for you to be in Warsaw at all. And it is unlikely that they will substantially increase your pay, as you have already demonstrated that you are willing to work for peanuts.

Yes

Unfortunately, one of the fastest way to get a big raise is to hop to another job. Start looking.

Yes.

You don't say how old you are. If it's an entry level job then it's a very different waggonload of monkeys to being further down your career. It doesn't look like they're going to give you more (and a 'permanent contract' is not as important for you as it would be for some) so you should start looking for other jobs.

Law / problems with registration a company in poland [12]

"Shirkers not workers" we call them often timesLOL

Home at 3pm max, many of them. A friend at the tax office has sometimes not even shown up for work and nobody even noticed or cared.

Law / problems with registration a company in poland [12]

I'd say a much wider range of company people do, though I doubt the OP would have much or any contact with any of those people while she registers her business. Trust me, I've done it several times and the whole process is in Polish and with low-level civil servants.

Law / problems with registration a company in poland [12]

At the upper managerial level, as throughout the rest of Europe, I'd imagine most would know quite fluent English!

Not the bods you deal with when registering a business at the tax office (though in Warsaw they do get a discount for Callan Method lessons if they want - most don't take up the offer), nor the people at the town hall, GUS, ZUS and KRS - I think there's about a 20% chance that they'd have basic conversational English.

Large private companies tend to be a different matter.

like Park Cytadela ,I really liked the old tanks and planes

Did you see the British and Russian War Cemeteries (by the steps up to the Cytadela from the city centre side)?. The difference between the two cemeteries really stands out.

I was waiting something spectacular to happen ,but to be honest ,I was disappointed :P seeing all these tourists waiting for something to happen

Remember it's hundreds of years old - it was probably a technological miracle when it was new.

I saw a person driving maniacally (even for syrian standards ) ,he was passing vehicles by driving on the sidewalks and was drifting .

Normal for Poland.

You have to (really have to) get the bus out to Swarzędz to see the Outdoor Beekeeping Museum.

This is the place: muzeum-szreniawa.pl/?q=pl/node/80

Law / problems with registration a company in poland [12]

Not the ones you have to deal with when registering a company.

There are dozens of threads here on how to do this - the search function is am excellent tool.

The OP does say 'company'. Is she sure she means company and not just a business with an owner but not a board of directors and shareholders?

Work / American with E.U. Passport Seeks Poland English Teaching Job Advice [6]

and the possibility of specializing in either business or legal English (I would prefer legal)

Legal English is an extremely small market, however it's difficult to find people who can teach it well. You would need to be in Warsaw. You would also (generally true in Poland) need to be familiar with British rather than American English, since that is what is used most in Europe.
