Travel / Need advice for a tour of eastern Poland [22]

Go via Lublin. It's a natural place to stop off on that route. It's a very pleasant place, a nice old town, some interesting local foods like Forszmak, there's a nice Old Town and castle, and if you want to you can visit the camp at Majdanek, in the suburbs of the city. Zamosc (a UNESCO world heritage site - google it for pics) is worth a stopover too. There's also Kazimierz Dolny, though that's really worth half a day only. Near Lublin.

Krakow is very touristy nowadays, however Lublin isn't, due to location.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

For Jon to dismiss the dozens of historical documents as myth is really rather astounding and arrogant.

Or agree with those dozens of documents that confirm the truth. The UK Ambassador also demolished the myth.

Polish representatives were invited to take part in the parade and Poles actually took part in the parade.

This is true and well-documented.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

It's easy to dismiss something as a "myth" j

Especially when it is a myth.

Please back it up

Taxpaying voter provided a reference to General Anders' book.

because Kaprys was correct with his statement.....

As you know, she was not.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

As for the Victory Parade, well, the Soviet backed communist government was invited not Poles who had fought under the British command.

This is an old myth and a silly one. They were invited, and there is no doubt about this.

History / Genocide strikes relations between Ukraine and Poland... again [9]

Intermarium being against Russia.

This is the whole point. To protect against Russia and its poodles.

Poor Polish-Russian relations are acceptable

Poland traditionally loathes Russia. Ukraine does too. Both have good reason to, as does any country unfortunate enough to have had dealings with that place.

History / Genocide strikes relations between Ukraine and Poland... again [9]

Generally the two countries get on very well. There's a long shared history, a lot of cross border families, plenty of shared cultural connections, and of course both are united against the common threat: the murderous Putin's evil empire, Russia.

Life / What would you do in my situation (Americans lied to Polish cops about my reason for deportarion) [7]

I was thrown out for molestation

You were convicted of sexually grooming a child over the internet and arranging to meet her. That never goes down well.

Mafketis is right though, the best thing to do is not to brake Polish law.

Yep, hard to disagree with that. Keep your nose clean, don't break the law. In Poland, they don't mess about.

"Integration" of races and generally the racial situation

Boo hoo hoo!

News / Priest from Poland claims Lego is "a tool of Satan" [35]

satanist

He isn't one, and the deliberately (if weakly) inflammatory thread title should be changed. There's no shortage of Satanists in Poland, (I recently attended the funeral of a nonagenarian AK war veteran who had memorised the Satanic Bible word for word) however Nergal isn't among them.

their kids nowadays are getting offended

Quite. It's harder to find a more decent and it should be said patriotic person than him.If some get offended by this, they should think about their priorities in life. It's a cliche to talk about "starving millions" however better to get offended by cruelty, injustice, poverty and inequality than art.

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

BTW, is there any place devoted to British Jews in the UK?

There are history projects in Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow, mostly about recording the memories of the diaspora populations.

What's the best museum to visit that commemorates British colonies

There's one in Oxford - well worth a visit.

tell 'Jewish' side of the story disregard completely Polish narrative.

Why shouldn't it - it isn't there for that.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

I don't know about Harry's grandparents but a few unfortunate Brits (and indeed Irish) ended up in the Gulag

There were certainly some that ended up in the Gulag - as far as I know, more Americans than Brits and Irish went through the system, particularly Finnish Americans who moved to the Soviet Union for work during the 1930s Depression.

Work / Poland is not the best country to get part time job with study? [59]

Exactly, that's why the conning is common in Poland.

Don't run Poles down - not all are dishonest. In academic life, most people are even rigorously respectable.

I had your minority group on my mind.

Not being part of one (unlike yourself), your 'mind' is as ever an irrelevance.

And year on year, more people come to study in Poland, and work while they study. Some even settle down afterwards.

History / WWII - who really was the first to help Poland? [900]

Those "leaders" in London contributed exactly the same as you - nil

They were certainly an ineffective bunch, riven by infighting. At one point, the former government-in-exile had three factions, each with a 'president' and 'cabinet', each claiming legitimacy.

Real Estate / Landlord accuses of not paying rent. Poland. [6]

You most certainly should not pay again

Under any circumstances. If you paid by transfer and have online banking, screenshot the relevant bit and forward it to him. Ask a friend to translate your email into Polish, and tell him/her to word it very formally.

you should also find somewhere else to live (now is a pretty good time to be looking).

Good advice - he's obviously dodgy as hell and trying to trick you.

Life / HOW MANY CHINESE LIVING IN POLAND? [29]

There are Chinese people working in Poland in IT - I know one. Most people in this situation are mid-level or senior people working for Chinese companies, or for Polish companies that have a local partner in Poland. Electronics and Telecoms are the relevant sectors. There are also plenty of Chinese-owned import companies around the major cities.

Praca.pl is a large Polish recruitment portal (however as usual, their advertisers prefer to receive applications from people already in-country). One thing you might try is a recruitment portal in China which may have vacancies in Poland for Chinese companies. I wonder if there is a forum for Chinese people in Poland? If so, that could be a good place to ask.

Work / Driving jobs in Poland. (HGV and bus/coach) [11]

Any ideas where I can start looking for either van driving jobs throughout Europe or as a chauffeur (private or limousines) ?

A driver recruitment website?

Study / Overview of the WSGE university in Poland [42]

You keep trying to relate things to your own working life. The reality is that Poland is an increasing;ly popular destination for overseas students, and the University in the thread title attracts many postgraduate students, most of them Polish.

For you maybe. For the rest of the world it stands for the European Credit Transfer System, which all major European Universities and other higher education institutions use as a framework.

Study / Overview of the WSGE university in Poland [42]

You have a very low opinion of people from some parts of our wide world.

clutching worthless diplomas

Which doubtless you're confusing with Postgraduate degrees accredited under ECTS. Don't judge the current (and expanding nicely) situation in Poland with your own worthless and failed experiences.

Study / Overview of the WSGE university in Poland [42]

So you're part of this scam operation.

There is no 'scam operation' there - as you well know (but hate). As you've been told, it's accredited institution. And I'm elsewhere, even a very long way away, though (unlike you) professionally spend my most of my time on issues around accreditation.

Rochdale

Also quite a nice town (that you've never been to and never will) - and one that's certainly attracted many Poles.

They are perfectly valid.

Very much so, and part of the European Credit Transfer Scheme.

Whatever you try to pretend from across the Atlantic.

Study / Overview of the WSGE university in Poland [42]

Minus their kidneys, of course.

There you go again. Feel free to, since your nonsense doesn't impact on the validity of degrees accredited by the Polish Ministry of Education, on the European Credit Transfer Scheme or on Erasmus. Nor has it had the slightest effect on the increasing number of overseas students who choose to study in Europe.

Work / Poland is not the best country to get part time job with study? [59]

So the whole "Con foreign students into taking up 'studies' in Poland" is really a cover

That's something of a leap, Maf, since nobody is 'conned' and employers have nothing to do with it.

Ubereats

I wouldn't work with something like Uber. Some of you however have a far smaller range of employment choices.

when he gets his Masters in Advanced Toilet Cleaning

They don't offer such a qualification at WSGE. Maybe at whatever place you went to, which may well explain a lot...

some hellhole like Rotherham or Milton Keynes

Clearly you've never been to either. I speak as someone from one of those two places who knows the other well. In fact one of them is usually considered one of the nicer places to live and the other is pleasant enough (and attracts people from round the world, particularly from Poland)..

a sham school

Maybe such places exist. WGSE however is most decidedly not one, being (as you've been told already) accredited by the Ministry of Education, part of the European Credit Transfer Scheme and part of Erasmus...

Work / Poland is not the best country to get part time job with study? [59]

Of what quality?

Accredited by the Ministry of Education, within the established framework of the European Credit Transfer Scheme. Many who do undergraduate degrees are going on o postgraduate study elsewhere in Europe.

Education in English when that's not the language of the country is usually kind of crap

Not in Poland...

Anyway, as you've noticed and forgotten or ignored, the topic of the thread is part-time work for students, something that is increasing in Poland.
