History / Question on Poland 1980-82 (the history of Solidarity during the years of 1980 and 1981) [17]

I didn't know of Pewex, thanks, very interesting. Sounds very similar to DDR's "Intershop."

There was also Baltona same thing.

Anything could be bought through Pewex (kind internal export where you could buy most "deficit" products for hard currency)

Yeah I used to spend my "kieszonkowe" (my father was giving me bony PKO) on Matchbox models and later on Sony and Basf audio tapes.Good times.

There were coupons for vodka. I believe it was a bottle per month.

Any Marlboro Reds? :)

Sometimes people could buy them at the Ruch kiosks. They were made in Krakow.

Ishatu2,wow,I am truly impressed with the last 2 posts of yours.

Sok, you can't tar everyone with the same brush.

Yeah,he can't yet the Jews can?Anti Polonism is an official policy of the state of Israel and that's ok?Just watch the "Defamation".

There are many noble Jews

Sure there are some decent people among the Jews e.g prof.Finklestein or Yoaw Shamir.

The "anti-semite" card is wearing out and it is increasingly becoming devoid of the real meaning

Most of the people everywhere but in Israel grow increasingly sick and tired of Jews playing "anti semitism" card.It is like they themselves ask for another holocoust.Personally I didn't really care about Jews or Palestinians (I think the best for all others would be if they have killed each other up to the last man),but after reading or listening what they say about Poland and Poles I ******* hate them just like THEY EXPECT me to.

We are not allowed to get pissed off when Jews offend us.

I don't care wheter we are allowed or not,I am pissed and I will be until they shut their filthy mouths.

You boys Torq and Meirys7 read too much of Jewish propaganda. For some balance I suggest you watch a great documentary "Der Ewige Jude" (avaliable on YT with english subs).A bit different point of view.

If you want, I can get the book on my way to work on Wednesday,
and send it to you as a token of Polish-Israeli friendship.

Why don't you send yourself to Israel as a token of Polish-Israeli "friendship"?

USA, Canada / Employee in USA, work visas and their renewals in Poland? [4]

I would appreciate some clarification on what the Polish government requires and how long it takes to accomplish this type of business when the nanny gets there.

Polish government does not require anything.Forget her,she won't be back. Why don't you hire an American nanny? There is plenty of Americans looking for work.

Law / Is PLN affected by the rise of silver prices? [4]

As you all know Poland has the biggest known reserves of Ag in the whole world (about 25% of world's silver is located in Poland!).

World Mine Production, Reserves, and Reserve Base:
Mine production Reserves8 Reserve base8
2003 2004e
United States 1,240 1,200 25,000 80,000
Australia 1,872 2,230 31,000 37,000
Canada 1,309 1,300 16,000 35,000
Chile 1,250 1,300 NA NA
China 2,500 2,600 26,000 120,000
Mexico 2,569 2,850 37,000 40,000
Peru 2,774 2,800 36,000 37,000
Poland 1,200 1,200 51,000 140,000
Other countries 4,100 4,000 50,000 80,000
World total (rounded) 18,800 19,500 270,000 570,000
Now do you think that recent spike in Ag prices (btw, tonight Ag is up 5.75 % !!! madness ) has any influence on PLN?

Where will you find operational Su` s?

PAF is still operating 48 Su 22 M4K.I only need 12 of them.

And when you take it, what are you going to do with it? I mean - your first steps in the city within 10 days, let`s say.

I will resettle Lithuanians back to Lithuania, turn Wilno into "Twierdza Wilno", throw a party and call a day.

Ukraine will interfere by flank-attacking Poland with its 17th Armored Goat Brigade and a squadron of low flying ostriches. What will you do then?

Then I will lough my a s s off.

History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

I think that calling the western lands "odzyskane" (recovered) and the eastern lands "utracone" (lost) is too pretentious,

Not "utracone" but "tymczasowo utracone" and I think the best term is "occupied territories".

This is, IMHO, more appropriate, what you think? Otherwise, it raises too much unnecessary tension.

No,I don't think so.It raises awerness among Poles that we still have some land in the East which is now occupied by Belarussians,Lithuanians and Ukrainians but which we have to recover at some point.

History / The smallest Poland ever? [115]

Lwów should belong to Poland.

Lwow,Wilno,Grodno and few other Polish towns will belong to Poland again (like half of respectfully Belarus,Lithuania and Ukraine).Land given to Poland in the West in 1945 is a rightfull compensation for Germany's war crimes and a border with Germany is non negotiable but in the East Poland has to try to restore pre 1939 borders.

Life / Reasons for moving to Poland [291]

Ask any Pole and it is his dream to leave Poland.

This is a one retarded statement.A "dream"?99% or more of Poles can leave Poland at any given moment and they don't even have to have passports in order to do that. You call it a "dream", sucker?Yeah I am a Pole and my dream is to have my own private island where I won't pay any taxes and will be able make my own rules. Now,that's what I call a dream.

Well i'll be sure to call the airline in advance to see how this would all pan out.

Law / Shipping a non-EU car to PL by a non PL citizen (but PL Resident) [13]

Look fisher, the bottom line is,if you manage to obtain "mienie przesiedlencze" document from embassy of Poland in the country you reside then you won't be paying any import duties nor taxes. If you ship the car without this paper you may be very sorry you did that since your options will be to either pay the taxes or ship it out of Poland.

News / Polish prostitute fined $820,000 for unpaid tax [18]

13.7 million zlotys earned, what do you think?

I think you foraigners are stupid and ignorant. The women was not a prostitute,if she was one and could prove it she would not be fined. The reason she said she was is that the income from prostitution activities does not have to be declared to Urząd Skarbowy that's why she claimed to be one.She was a tax evader not a prostitute you ignorants.

Law / Shipping a non-EU car to PL by a non PL citizen (but PL Resident) [13]

You need to contact Urząd Celny fisher.Since you are not a citizen but only a resident I am not sure if "mienie przesiedleńcze" applies to you.IF the car was registered on your wife's name for the last 6 months I am positive she could ship it duty and tax free to PL after obtaining "mienie przesiedleńcze" document from embassy of Poland in the country she is relocating from. She still would have to pay all the applicable taxes and duties if she sold this car in Poland within 12 months from the date she registered it in Poland.

Life / Getting ripped off in Poland! Is it normal? or should it be tolerated? [97]

Oh bad bad Poles, they always try to ripp people off and the "westerners" never ever do that.Yeah,f u c k you guys you can tell this bullshit to someone who never lived in a "western" country but not to me.I can only talk about US so:

A landlord was trying not to return my security deposit thinking probably that I am a stupid illegal immigrant affraid to go to court.Well I wasn't and got my money back.

A employer was trying not to pay me for a week of work thinking I am an illegal immigrant and won't go to court.I did and got my money.

A "chink" broad was trying to ripp me off on $10 at chinese food place,I got my money back after I called police.

A mechanic charged me $100 for a voltage regulator he said he replaced,I went home pulled that thing out it wasn't new so I went back and got my money back after telling him I will go to court if he won't give me my money.

A cab driver (an American) was trying to ripp me off on $20 but he didn't know I used to be a cab driver in the same town and I knew exactly what I should pay.

Do you see me starting a thread "Is it normal to get ripped off in the US"?
P.S Another piece of s h i t American never paid me a $300 rent for a taxi I leased to him and he disappeared.Cry me a river about how you get ripped off in Poland I can only say "Good"!

Life / As a black gay man (US) visiting Warsaw this summer, will I get beat up for nothing? [65]

The thread is a oueer drama.First of all dude, tell your your ignorant buddies to first visit the place before expressing their opinion.I understand you want to visit Warsaw and I can't imagine you being robbed or assaulted in Warsaw's downtown or any turist area because you are black and have an ipod.Like other posters said already don't be openly queer and don't ask people on the street about the nearest gay club.Google "gay clubs in Warsaw" or go to Warsawlife.com>gayWarsaw, a review from gayWarsaw:

"When in Warsaw Toro club!!! If you like to dance to great music or chill out at the downstairs bar (Vodka Specials 10zl.)this is the place.Great 2 floor club and bar off Marszalkowski street. Taxi from centrum around 30 zl. It's worth it!!"

reviewed by Joe NYC from United States on Mar.03.2009

Ignorants like your buddies really **** me off, if you venture outside downtown at night and you want you and your ipod to be 100% safe don't use a bus,use a cab instead.

Work / I'm curious, how much do Polish actors really make? [8]

No wonder it's difficult to pick up roles in commercials.

No it's not that hard.Szymon Majewski (well, not really an actor but close to) just signed a contract with PKO BP,his pay (before taxes) is 3320000 (3.32 m) PLN.

i even feel sorry for the winner who is going to walk away with a 100 tys zł in all earnest it should be more.

No worry.I am sure they do ok.
