The new tax is really about implementing a rise in VAT without saying so.

retail tax known as a sales tax is prevalent in the states of the US and nobody complains - I am actually in favour of universal sales tax like in the US and Polish business associations back this idea

Poles had for many centuries (after the Middle Ages) little contact with the Czech language - it changed after the second world war - I think it was starting from the seventies that youth exchanges were organised between Poland and Czechoslovakia - and this is how laska entered the Polish language

You're either pro-businesses (in which case chains are going to gobble up a big part of the market - see economy of scale) or you're anti-business and long for the days of ration cards and standing in line for hours every day to do normal shopping..

this is false alternative mafketis - at least it has nothing to do with the current state of affairs and the ruling party views - the new tax is supposed to amend the evasion of foreing retail chains of paying taxes in Poland - maybe it will be not necessary in the long run because the EU is currently working on new rules that would make businesses to pay taxes (perhaps also social security contributions) where the income is generated

I think you could import it as 'mienie przesiedleńcze' (mover's belongings - don't quote me on this translation hahah) - but I am not sure - there are Brits who live in Poland in this forum they should know more on the topic (I'm Polish and I live a very sheltered life)

well it would be less complicated for you to ship the car to the UK first and then drive it to Poland after you land here from a legal point of view I guess

mienie przesiedleńcze is tax free

I seriously doubt that most Poles do ever sociolize with .... Arabs, Blacks, Vietnamese, Indians and whoever "exotic" ;) be abroad or in big Polish cities

Poles were under partitions for over 100 years and Polish language has not been eradicated and you tell me that after some 20 years of polonization pressure German language went out of use at homes?

I happen to live in the area you know and I have never heard locals talk to each other in German - yes they talk in Silesian dialect (I can even agree to call it a language if you agree that Scottish is a language on it's own)

abusing children hahah - it was the PO candidate (former German minority) who abused children using them for political purposes - this was no spontanous event my dear friend
