Off-Topic / Help for Stalker - threats from an ex-boyfriend [19]

Not if the person(s) has previously uploaded the images onto the internet.

Only if they were publicly accessible. Polish law explicitly forbids the publication of images that weren't publicly available, and privacy laws are taken seriously here.

Travel / Poland - never again [593]

Strange. After Rich posted that message an hour ago, I called the real Rich Mazur in Palatine, and someone (wife? daughter?) said that he was taking his nap now. Yet he was still posting even after that.

Bit odd, to say the least...

the supra

I'm thinking about getting something similar to this - olx.pl/oferta/pontiac-firebird-3-8-v6-196-km-CID5-IDtqUnD.html#eedef1e56e - I absolutely love the way they look, and they're not difficult or expensive to maintain. They're absolutely beautiful, and if you get it converted to LPG (like half of Poland...), it's very reasonable on fuel.

I'd love to get one of the V8 5.7L beasts, but I've never seen one for sale in Poland.

Well, pis and numerous others tried numerous times (lustration)

PiS got rebuffed because they wanted selective lustration. A real lustration process would weed out many uncomfortable facts for PiS, and they never put forward any true lustration process that would reveal the answers to many interesting questions connected to people from PiS. Even today, they were happy to strip pensions of some groups, but they mysteriously left PZPR public prosecutors alone, even though they were effectively the sword of the party.

Ask yourself how serious they are about Lustration when Saski just got caught at this -
fakt.pl/wydarzenia/polityka/marek-suski-na-imprezie-komunistycznej-partii-chin/e1tpl0h

For non-Polish speakers, the boss of the PiS politbur...political committee just got caught willingly attending a "workshop marking Marx's birthday" at the Chinese Communist Party's event.

My friendly advice to you: ignore me. You will always lose.

You keep ranting there, "Rich", you're doing a grand job of wrecking PF.

What matters is the UK has become a state with thought police where people are prosecuted merely for citing public information, statistics, etc.

You do realise he was jailed for contempt of court, right? He even pled guilty, so he clearly knew that he was in the wrong. He could have pled not guilty and let to go to trial by his peers, but clearly he didn't feel too confident about it.

Same laws exist in the US - law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/401

Law / Am I Still A Polish Citizen? Born in Poland, adopted in the USA as a child. [3]

I can't be certain on this, but I think you still have Polish citizenship despite being adopted, as long as you've got documents to prove your birth in Poland. You certainly didn't lose it upon turning 18, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to confirm your Polish citizenship.

Law / PESEL number, passport, and ID in Poland [16]

they might calculate two numbers and then there might be a problem.

They won't. The system is designed to prevent such situations happening, and anyway, the issuing of the PESEL is a separate administrative decision to applying for an ID card or passport.

The bad news for you is that it will take 3-4 weeks for the ID card to be issued, and without it, you can't apply for a passport in Poland.

News / Polonophobia rising in Israel. [144]

American hawks, military industrial complex, large currency traders, IMF, zionists, banks - a dangerous consortium...

It's a really frightening combination. I actually thought Trump would stop much of the meddling internationally, but it's just more of the same old game. Clinton, Bush, Obama, now Trump - all of them bowed down and bent over for the military industrial complex that needs feeding.

The surreal thing for me - I can't even see what America has to gain by interfering in places like Iraq and Libya.

USA, Canada / Would you live in California, USA? [240]

Our Trumpanzees are quite a pleasant bunch, aren't they? They love all things Russian... :)

One can only wonder how long they would actually last in Russia. I'd give them 24 hours before they ran to the American Embassy begging for 'my rights as an American citizen'.

that is the way borders were perfected always until recently

Which borders? Even the hard border regime of Franco's Spain didn't shoot people on the border. Murdering people in cold blood on borders was a Communist thing, nothing else.

America tries to spread its debt laden declining dollar and anyone who refuses is dealt with violently.

Iraq? Libya? Now Iran?

Hmm, what could be the common denominator here?

Nice of you to endorse Communist ways of border protection.

All that's needed is willpower.

I dare say that there's quiet acceptance of them, not least because the leaders tend to be high profile and easy to keep under control.

Law / PESEL number, passport, and ID in Poland [16]

Sorry to say, but you won't be able to apply for both at the same time. You'll need to present the ID card in order to get the passport if you intend to apply in Poland.

Work / I want to teach English in Poland and I don't know where to start! PLEASE HELP! [23]

1) I know you don't understand anything about the Polish education system, so it will obviously have escaped your attention that the rules are changing constantly. In my specific case, there's little point in doing much about promotion to the diploma teacher level when the minimum time required has just lengthened to 4 years after the previous promotion.

2) The qualification that gives the right to be a head teacher in Poland - it's not needed, I only want it to have more of a background in educational management.

Don't worry Joker, stick to things that you actually know about, because Poland and Polish life isn't one of them.

American health insurance that somehow covers all Polish clinics and hospitals

Isn't it curious how he couldn't even provide the name of the insurance company in question, yet he was able to talk about the details of the policy?

It's just painfully obvious that everything mentioned here is coming from what people have said anecdotally on PF and elsewhere, along with random things copied from the internet without any context.

Law / Poland's National Visa D (am I allowed to land in Berlin first?) [4]

Singapore - Berlin flight costs just 250 SGD (no transit)

Wow, so little? I'd love to visit Singapore, and 250SGD is nothing!

So yes, of course, it's quite normal for people from Asia to fly into Berlin or Helsinki first before coming to Poland, for exactly the reasons you mention.

? Don't tell me you don't know how to write or read in Polish?

He doesn't. Kaprys already established that, as he refuses to answer simple questions in Polish. He also used the wrong translation on numerous occasions while trying to prove that he knew Polish.

He's simply stolen the real Rich Mazur's identity, for reasons unknown.

News / Polonophobia rising in Israel. [144]

Nowhere is Old Testament law practiced, but the Sharia is in force in numerous countries, even in Europe on a growing basis.

Actually, in England, it's quite normal for Orthodox Jews to settle issues at their own "beth din" courts.

By the way, quoting texts from 1336 hardly proves anything except that people were rather backwards in their thinking back then.

Work / I want to teach English in Poland and I don't know where to start! PLEASE HELP! [23]

Ugh, mods, can you fix this for me please? I pressed send too early...

Yup, quite a bit of it.

I did a BA in Business Management, then did a PGCE in primary teaching in a really unorthodox way - I did the classes as a distance student (supposed to be on-campus, but they were clearly desperate for students) through the University of Greenwich, then found a two crap state schools in London that were willing to let me meet the requirements by being there full time for several weeks at a time.I don't remember how long it was, but it was three full time placements. It was utterly rubbish, the teachers were dire, the schools even worse, but at least it was primary and not secondary. As for the University of Greenwich, they were clearly just after cash and I can't say I learnt much there. I got the English QTS, but there was no way I was going to bother with the NQT year.

Finished that, and went on to do a MA in English with the pedagogy specialism at Adam Mickiewicz University in English so I'd be qualified to teach English as a school subject on top of 'elementary education' as they call it in Poland. Now I'm a so-called "nauczyciel mianowany' - working towards the diploma teacher level, but slowly because it doesn't really mean very much.

I'm also working very very slowly towards the qualification that gives the right to be a head teacher in Poland, but I haven't bothered to finish it yet.

Thanks for the info on E-KUZ - I wasn't even familiar with that system.

There's even more to it. If the waiting time for a medical procedure is longer in Poland than in the Czech Republic (for instance), you can go to the Czech Republic and get treated there for the same thing while the Polish NFZ pays. They try to keep it quiet in Poland for obvous reasons, but the details are all here - crossborderhealthcare.org/en/legal-information/

It's very common with smaller routine things when you live somewhere like Kudowa-Zdrój and the nearest clinic is in Wrocław - so you can just go to the clinic in Hradec Kralove instead, just as long as it's covered by the NFZ.

Travel / Kaliningrad to Gdansk Transport [10]

I saw, I edited my post twice ;)

Another ninja edit: There's apparently plenty of buses and minibuses (called mashrutka) running from Kaliningrad station to Mamonovo - so you should have no problem getting to the border. Hitching a ride with someone across the border is normal, so just ask around until someone agrees to take you. 20 złoty / 5 Euro should do the job.

Travel / Kaliningrad to Gdansk Transport [10]

Any ideas anyone?

Take a train from Gdańsk to Olsztyn, then from Olsztyn to Braniewo. From there, get a taxi to the Russian border. You can't walk across the border, but just look for someone willing to let you come with them across the border for some cash (20zł should do it). From the other side, you should be able to agree a lift into Kaliningrad with someone.

edit: just seen that you want to do it in reverse. In that case, get a taxi from Kaliningrad city to the border, then just get someone to take you across, then train from Braniewo to Gdańsk.

There may be some train from Kaliningrad to Mamonovo (next to the border), but I'm not sure.

edit 2: Yeah, there's a train from Kaliningrad to Mamonovo, three per day. You can try that, but it'll probably be easier to just get a taxi to take you straight to the border - should be no more than 25-30 Euro.

Work / I want to teach English in Poland and I don't know where to start! PLEASE HELP! [23]

I am reading that the TEFL course takes about 12 weeks and includes early years teaching in that.

Honestly, those courses are worthless, but more importantly, they're not recognised by the Polish MEN. They'll do if you want to work in a rubbish language school in a rubbish small town, but you need a university qualification to get a good job, or if you want to work in a public school with relatively comfortable conditions.

The EFTA countries are included in it, even though they're outside the EU. As far as anyone knows, the transitional arrangements will be in place until the end of 2020 at least. After that, who knows? The most likely scenario is that nothing will change though.
