Harry Ramsdens is not as good as many others but it's a decent introduction to fish&chips. A chipper is what we tend to call it too but I sometimes lapse into chippie. White pudding? Now that is just lowering the tone. It's vile!

Branching out a wee bit, there are many other things you can buy in a chipper as us Scots know. Scampi suppers, ya beauty! They usually ask me if I'd like some scampi with my salt, LOL

Aberdeen is as good as you'll get for fish and chips. It really has the freshest and the most succulent pieces of fish. No other city has the range of top chippers in such a small area.

It also depends on where you get the fish. Although not one of the 3 award-winning places I referred to, the Torry fish bar (many Poles live in Torry) produces the best fish in the NE as it is right next to the harbour and as fresh as it gets. That was one of the boons of living by the sea.

The standard in Scotland is very high. In Aberdeen alone, we have Harry Ramsdens, the Ashvale and the Dolphin. They are all award-winning chippies I think. Many places like the Bluebird, the Byron etc etc are great.

Kenneth, I sympathise but who does the hiring? Private firms and not the government. They are invited by white Norwegians to come and work for them. I agree with Greg here. We hear Obama coming out with the same drivel. It is cue for danger. I do NOT associate with many other Europeans. I am Scottish and proud. I didn't say otherwise, Sokrates. Denmark knows this danger and it has upped its policing efforts to stamp it out. Other nations will likely soon initiate clampdowns.

The problem with them is that they breed like rabbits. Yes, many lead noble lives but probability tells us that, especially given the broad-based indoctrination they undergo, that a fair percentage will be radical fanatics. I know what happened in Kosovo, that many Albanians swamped the area due to bigger numbers. We don't want a repeat of that here.
