News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

for people like Levi, life is very simple, it's either white or black and there is nothing in between ;). No party in Poland wants a system like what existed before 1989. I have personally dealt with several high level politicians in Poland (with some of whom I'm even on "ty" terms) through work and even those socalled "left" (for instance SLD) do not want pre 1989 system. But of course, too hard to understand by simple minds like levi's ;).

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

Levi: 1. where have I said that PiS would not win???? On the contrary, I said they would in at least hundreds of messages. Since you have a lot of time; do search ;). 2. if you knew something re Razem, you would know that they don't want pre 1989 Poland but of course in simple minds as yours, things are just black or white ;). 3. As to Podemos, yes, they run Madrid and Barcelona, among other things and if no majority in December, they'll are very big in Spain (I have a lot of close relatives living there, as I have also some Spanish blood) and will be even bigger whether you like it or not.

4. and end: have you read PiS's economic program? I suppose you have not otherwise you would know that it's a "socialist" program ;). PiS are said to be on the "right" because of their positions re societal matters but in economics they are "left" ;););).

Have a great day with your Muslim friends with whom you hypocrit make money! ;)

(am about to leave for work so do talk to yourself now! :))

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

@Levi: like I always said, you don't live in Poland and don't know anything about Polish (and other countries) politics. Yes, Razem is to play a bigger role thanks to their leader and Polish youth being fed up of garbage contracts and to have to emigrate for bread. Less than 2 years ago, nobody (including me) would have thought of Siriza running Greece and winning all élections there and of Podemos ruling now Barcelona and Madrid and about to win December general élections in Spain. I even expect a wider left-wing party around Zarendberg, Nowacka and others...

To conclude: Levi, you don't know anything re Polish politics...

@Levi: OF COURSE you don't know anything re Razem but you comment upon things you don't know anything about (normal, for you).

Now have a great day with your Muslim friends although you pretend to hate them (on the net)! ;) Hypocrit!

Life / Halloween or Andrzejki - which is more popular in Poland? [14]

No, Halloween has not become international! In Poland, it is kind of "celebrated" only among Anglo-saxon expat circles and few Poles hanging around them. If I recall right, the catholic Church are against it. For 99.99% Poles and Europeans, Halloween means nothing.

@Kpc: Yes, good analysis! :)

@Jon: Yes, Razem is to gain popularity thanks mainly to their charismatic leader Adrian Zandberg (who, for the gossip, used "to be with" B. Nowacka when they were younger ;)).

Since PiS have clear majority in Sejm (first time in Poland), some stability is to be expected. If PiS had to form a coalition with let's say... Kukiz, it would be a different matter.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

@Polsyr: Of course, it is NORMAL to change every few years but over the recent past, no need to deny that PO has become a turn off for most Poles otherwise it would have been style 52-48, 51-49..... Most of the people I deal with are "PO style" and a lot of them have stopped voting for PO (or stopped voting) as they have become disgusted.

Of course, I wish the new government to succeed as it is most Polish voters' choice.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

@Roger: of course, in some areas, changes are spectacular (once more thanks to EU) but obviously not enough for most Poles. I saw a report on Saturday on Euronews with Poles from Polska B saying that they did not think normal to have to go abroad for bread (I agree) but they had no choice because no job, of if job, it was paid peanuts. Poland is the EU country with the biggest % in precarity. Do you and could you live and raise a family on some 2,000? No, you don't and you couldn't so why should you expect Poles to make it? Are they smarter? Are they magicians?

Also, since I had cancer, I have to buy a lot of medicines all the time and I have realized that over the past few years, NFZ has stopped reimbursing most medicines. I CAN pay but what about Poles who cannot buy their medicines, what are they supposed to do?

As an expat, you are in a comfortable situation (like all of us do otherwise, we would not be here ;)) but don't pretend "all is great for everybody", because for most people it is not and that's the reason why of yesterday's results...

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

@Roger: of course, no, it's not bad things but what I'm saying, is that it would have happened under any government ;). No, most Poles did not benefit from "Polish growth". Even in Warsaw (I travel all around town every day for work) we can see a lot of poverty. I won't even talk about Polska B, which seems almost untouched in the last 20 years. Sorry, with most people making some 2,000/month (I know that teachers in Warsaw make 2,300 brutto), I won't say that most Poles live comfortably. I own my flat, I'm alone and I need minimum 4,500/5,000 every month to live without worry (I must admit that I spend a lot of time in shopping centers ;)) and I am certainly not rich so when I hear about families living on some 2,000/month, I can only call that poverty because it is and I cannot understand how people "live"...

If people have voted against PO, it is obviously because they are not happy with their situation. No big deal to understand! ;)

Polish growth 1. resulted from EU money and foreign investments and 2. did benefit a few Poles only (most Poles have to survive on peanuts or move abroad).

@Jon: Thanks! I'll read article

@Levi: if you knew ANYthing re Poland and its politics, you would know that PiS has a left wing economic program and is much more "leftish" than for instance Western European socalled 'socialist" parties but since you don't know... ;). PiS is said to be "right wing" because ot heir stands in societal matters (anti abortion, anti divorce, anti homosexuals, anti everybody and everything).

@Levi: No, I am "ONE guy". Yes, I am left wing and always will be as I'm in favor of the "little guy" and not in favor of "bloodsuckers" like Pol3 calls them. I don't like PiS and I don't like PO but since I am a democrat, I must respect Polish voters' choice and I do. I also believe that it is not expats' jobs to "teach locals how to vote" ;). If PiS won, it's because PO has become such a turn off to most Poles and that's it.

No difference in my life as of today on!
(PS: I have experienced several Polish governments including SLD and PiS and they did not affect my life one way or the other).

What counts is what Polish voters think.

The show must go on!

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

Just read that 66% of the youth have voted PiS, Kukiz and Korwin. It's a lot! ;). I believe that PO and the other losers should carefully analyze why they lost in order to move ahead instead of criticizing the winners.

As I said, I heard that the migrant issue has been a strong factor against PO and I think that the misuse of some 100 million ZL for their stupid referendum was probably also held against PO. Re migrants, let's be serious! For months, EW did not even want 1,900 as per EU's quotas and suddenly after a meeting with Merkel, she has accepted to take in ... 10,000 refugees. What is the logic to change one's mind so quickly? I assume EW got a nice check from Merkel/EU.

Well, no change in my life! The only positive things that I consider is 1. EW out - I really can't stand that cold woman with no empathy to common folks and 2. the Polish government shall give Merkel a hard time, it's about time that the woman gets straightened up.

@Wielki: Absolutely! WHOEVER wins when 50% people don't bother to vote does not represent much. This is so for everybody and for whatever country. Politicians should be concerned about half of voters not voting. If people don't vote it's because they are not satisfied with politics and politicians in general.

@Dougpol: I do pay tax too (and don't mind because I think it's normal) but when I talk about "colonialism", I refer to telling Poles that they are "wrong" and that they should have voted X or Y". If someone were telling me this about elections at home, I would tell them to f... off. PiS have won because most Poles have decided so and that's it. No need to have a fit! We'll survive ;)

@Pol: I read that only 27,000 PolAmericans were registered voters in the US. Anyway, I am against people voting whereas they don't live in country (sometimes have not even set a foot in it and barely speak the language).

@Dougpol: you know, we foreigners (athough sometimes not easy) have the choice to get out if we don't like it. I did not get anything from PO and shall not get anything from PiS so for me no difference. Anyhow, we are not colonialists and won't tell Poles how to run their country.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

@Maf: although the migrant issue has hurt PO, most Poles were fed up of PO (high unemployment in Polska B, low salaries, need to emigrate, lousy health services...) and most probably they have voted AGAINST PO rather than FOR PiS.

I personally don't expect anything from PiS but no difference as of tomorrow on as I did not get anything from PO either ;). "lol"

@Maf: Poles have voted and their vote must be respected. This is called ... democracy. Instead of criticizing PiS (I don't like them but I respect Polish vote), PiS's opponents should try to understand why PO and others have lost. According to Euronews this morning, the migrant issue has hurt PO.

I can't stand PO either so NO difference to me.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

That's it: (very low) turnout 51.6% - PiS: 39.12%, PO: 23.41%, Kukiz: 9.04%, Petru: 7.12%, PSL: 5.21%. Others don't make it: ZL: 6.6% (they needed 8%), Korwin: 4.9% and Razem: 3.9% (in my opinion good performance by Razem, brand new party, most probably campaigning with a couple of groszy).

Polls were accurate.

Does anyone know if Liroy has been elected? ;)

@Johnny: don't you have anything else to do in your miserable life besides splitting hair? The cemetary is run by the Parish. I have my closest Polish relatives burried there and I'll be at cemetary again in a few days. Does not matter how you call "workers' dwellings" in Kce, the inhabitants are dirt poor and spend a great deal of their time sitting on the sidewalk and drinking. I suppose most were coal miners and since most mines have been closed, they have nothing... Sad life!

UK, Ireland / Sugar tax in the UK. Polish friends addicted? [55]

@Roger: at the university, you have mostly "rich" kids. All studies say that Polish kids are close to be the fattest in the EU. Compare with for instance the Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Spanish and even the French kids! You'll see, that as we go South, people tend to be less fat (better diet and a lot of fruit, vegetables, fish..).

Classifieds / Coming to Poznan in December - Looking for some girl in Christmas times [33]

The way a lot of men talk about women in PF is sickening. They show no respect as they see women completely stupid and so desperate that they'll jump to bed with them. Who the hell do they think they are that they believe all women could not resist them?
