USA, Canada / Canada Increasingly a Gateway for Undocumented Polish Immigrants Entering the U.S. [150]

That’s not a behavior expected that of a statesman accent or no accent period.

Bull hockey my friend. It's actually an insult to use an incompetent interpreter like her where the "statesman" (using your words) probably didn't understand a half of what she was saying.

That sounds like the "generic late 30's language school director who knows best" accent.

Thanks dd, this is exactly how I feel about it too.

USA, Canada / Canada Increasingly a Gateway for Undocumented Polish Immigrants Entering the U.S. [150]

Read the comment again. I was talking about the Czech Republic. There aren't very many Americans here. There are (and were) tons in the Czech Republic. You can ask google if you want, I even gave a handy little link.

I know, that's why I said that Czech Rep. is not an issue here (not in this thread anyway).

Talking about the Schengen zone and the single visa law, and Americans get deported for breaking the law here in the Schengen zone, just like Poles get deported for breaking the law in the US.

I understand what you're saying about the Schengen Zone and that its members have to follow the Schengen rules and laws but I still want to discuss about illegal immigration in the USA and Poland, that's it.

Oh, come on, don't be so punctilious. Of course I meant rich...

OK, thx :-)

Personal experience

Well, your "personal experience" won't convince me much. I hope you understand it.
I only asked because you said "quite a few" and I don't think it was quite a few (maybe one or two). When we lived in Poland, in 4 years, I've met about 40 Americans and 35 of them were American-Indian students in Lublin.

Czech Rep. is not an issue here, sorry.

You mean all 63 of them? LOL. Indeed, looks like the glory days for the US are over.

I was only quoting to begin with but as far as the number 63 itself, how many illegal Americans live in Poland? Do you believe, you'll find 63 of them?

quite a few Americans were deported because they could no longer do visa runs at the border.

can you provide a link, please? I'm only asking because you said "quite a few".

Sure, they broke the law. Whether you agree with the law or not, they still broke it, ergo, criminals.

"Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:

* Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
* Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
* Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;

has committed a federal crime."

The answers are all in the article which you just posted:

I was quoting other posters using those questions.

I DON'T KNOW what are you discussing, I know that you have 11M illegal immigrants from the south and you are doing (as a country) nothing about it, yet at the same time you are bi'tching about few Poles which stayed in U.S. illegally!

Well, you have a point iron but it's not true that we don't do anything about illegals here. You just don't know it not living here. I don't know if they show "Border wars" in Poland. I guess not because you'd know that we actually do a lot against it, it's just still not enough, that's true.

As far as the rest of of your statement, it's true that the amount of illegal Poles in the US isn't comparable with that of the Mexicans but still it's a crime to live here illegally.

USA, Canada / Canada Increasingly a Gateway for Undocumented Polish Immigrants Entering the U.S. [150]

Why would Poles want to go to the US for work? Low minimum wage, high unemployment and difficult to get there and work legally.

this is exactly what I've heard so many times on PF and that's why I wonder why they still (obviously) come here. I accidentally came across this article and remembering some of those posts on PF (very similar to yours now) I thought it would be interesting to point it out that what you guys posted over here is not really based on facts.

I don't think many Poles believe in the American Dream that much anymore although the romantic idealists will still be taken in by it.

For whatever reason it may be, you see yourself, "the wave" is still there.

This is true i hardly see any newcomers from Poland anymore.

I don't say, you're lying but at the same time, I don't see any reason not to believe this article.

"USA is no more attractive for Poles to go to"

"why would any Pole want to go to the US if he can legally work in UK etc."

I was basically quoting other s on PF.

I probably wouldn't pay attention to this article but I saw comments on PF that USA is no more attractive for Poles to go to and why would any Pole want to go to the US if he can legally work in UK etc. Another question is, why not just legally stay in Canada instead to choose to be illegal here?

"The rise in illegal entries from Canada can be traced back to March 2008 when Canada lifted visa requirements for travelers from Poland. Some see it as an opportunity to try to work their way into the U.S. yet one more time."

Travel / What would make you think I was tourist in Poland? [7]

Well, it's an obvious troll. I found it so amusing that Krakowiaks (is that a word?) do not have an American accent; i mean how dare they! LOL

I wonder when the OP will be back here to explain it (if ever).

UK, Ireland / Why British men move to Poland [63]

What does it have to do with the title of the thread? Silly.

Of course it's silly. The OP is insinuating that British guys are coming to Poland because all British women are fat and ugly. I bet it wouldn't take long to find online pics with fat women from any other country too.

History / Christopher Colombowicz: America's discoverer Polish not Portuguese, claim historians [60]

Christopher Colombowicz: America's discoverer Polish not Portuguese, claim historians

"Who Discovered America before Christopher Columbus?
Many people had reached the continent of America before Columbus. The people from Asia reached America thousands of years before Columbus and became the inhabitants of this land. Norse expeditions to America had started much before 1492 AD i.e. in 986 AD. These expeditions were initiated by Bjarni Herjolfsson. Most of the expeditions before the time period of Columbus were not documented properly. As per some records, Chinese Admiral Zheng was the first to discover America. It is however, said that these claims cannot be considered true. This is because, none of the voyages of Admiral Zheng went beyond the Indian Ocean. As per Icelandic sagas, Norse explorer, Leif Erikson had reached America long before 1492. The remains of a viking-type settlement were found by archaeologists in Canada (1963). These remains are believed to be around 1000 years old."

Genealogy / Ochmann: Curious about my Family History.... [29]

Czech/polish/slovak name + german surname = Silesian! :)

There's another option of course, he might have been either Polonized or Germanized. It depends on whether his first or last name was changed at some point of his or his ancestors life.

Life / How many Americans live in Poland? [13]

are there many Americans living in Poland and how many of them?

When we lived in Lublin, back in 2004, there were only 3 Americans but many Brits. Also there were about 20-30 of American-Indians (not native Americans) studying at the local Medical Academy in Lublin.

News / Victory in 'anti-Polish camps' campaign in US [170]

I am trying to say I've been in US and I am able to prove it, obviously you can't prove you've visited any other countries then american states.

Nothing I'm willing to provide on PF would prove it as I'm not willing to post any of my pics taken while in Europe. There are few people on this forum who know me, ask them.

I could probably provide some information about some places in Poland that only a person would be able to provide who was there, would that be a proof that I was there? (4 years in Poland, just ask).

I bet, I know more about Poland than you about the US.

First you prove you spent 9 years out of US and then I prove I prove I spent 8 days American shithole close to Saint Louis

Why did you repeat "I prove" twice, lol Are you mad? lol I don't need to prove anything to you.

What's about "I spent 8 days American shithole close to Saint Louis"? What are you trying to say?

Then 9 years was not enough in your case, simple.

I bet, even a hundred years wouldn't be enough for someone who's coming from any western country, not just the US.

He is just little narrow-minded

look in the mirror next time you say it because what you gave from yourself so far will be definitely seen as narrow-minded just about anywhere in the western world.

Talk to you later.

if you want to know what the world outside the USA is like

Jeez man, 9 years of Europe and not only Europe. I definitely know how it is "outside the USA", don't you think? I just believe that the Polish way of seeing other ethnic groups in Poland (especially Polish citizens) is a "little" odd, that's it.

when I am in REGULAR English or German or Czech or Spanish or Turkey or Tunisian or Hungarian or Polish hotel I don't have to watch their national flag on my breakfest table

and what's artificial about it?

btw, I find it rather interesting that when it comes to opinions about the US, the strongest (and usually the farthest from the truth) are usually held by people who haven't spent much time here at all.

or haven't spent any time here at all (never been here).

Your artificial country IS racist compering to Poland

It has nothing to do with racism. Go on google and find out yourself why we do it before you come to your conclusions. Besides, why is my country artificial? (what a utter bs)

There are people who for generations have been living in Poland and are not considered Polish.

pretty darn nationalistic, I would say. I guess, you guys are lucky, we don't see it the same way :-) Besides, my ancestors (my mom's side) were here before it was even the US. We're talking here about almost 400 years. I guess it gives me the right to feel American.
