consider this a test. As far as business goes, say no. You might think of opening a subsidiary that she could be partner in, if possible, and if she has any business sense.

House is tougher. It would be nice if she could consider it hers as well as yours. It's strange that she asked, though. It shows some mistrust.. If you drop dead she will get it anyway, right?

Delph, to me the weather was just about the worst aspect of Poland. Besides the fact that I hate cold, there were years when the for the remaining 3 months of summer, it RAINED!

Christmas tree is decorated by children on Christmas Eve. Of course, you can put yours up in April, but that's not what the Polish tradition is. And yes, no meat on Christmas Eve.

The celebration is on Christmas Eve, the supper at sighting of first star. One extra setting at the table.
Mikolaj comes sometime during supper, sometimes later, depending when parents can succesfully distract the kids.
Bottle of something was available for those who drink (often akvavit), even though my parents did not.
Stop arguing if Poles drink at Christmas supper. Some do and some don't.

set up a playlist on youtube of all her old favorites. You can find traditional songs, religious, partyzanckie, classical... I had some elderly relatives visiting recently, and they were blown away by the accessibility to the music of their youth. They were either signing, dancing or crying.

seriously, don't you realize that statements like that make you look foolish? If you really think that all the women are out for the guys money, then you have a very narrow view of the world.

And to answer your question; if it's a scarf, I'd keep it and reciprocate with a tie or something, and a nice note. But, if it's $20, I'd send it back with impersonal x-mas wishes, and maybe a thinly veiled suggestion for a cheritable donation, if I can think of one. ;)

What I referred to as your dirty laundry, is the fact that if in your experience a Polish women are likely to throw a Christmas present of a silk scarf in the 'rubbish bin', then that says something about you and your relationships. Wielki Pan. :)

IMHO, $20 in a mail shows you have no imagination, know nothing about me and are
too lazy to go to the store and post office. A stupid teddy bear would be
better. Bottle of perfume (Channel has a new one). Simple bangle bracelet. Don't
send money. It's not an amount. $200 will be as bad as $20.
