Travel / Health Insurance in Poland for EU citizens for a travel trip? [7]

I don't know how it works this way but when I visited Germany I went to local NFZ and applied for european health card.I didn't need to-if I had to use medical help without that card I would probably had to pay then take all documents and go to NFZ and ask them to pay me back-it's longer and annyoing.I applied for the card(one day affair in Rybnik) but I never had to use it.

Po polsku / Dlaczego uczysz się Polskiego? [101]

P.S.Why your mother
Powyżej macie przykład tego, jakie sztuczki robi mi mój umysł.Pisząc na PF automatycznie "przeskakuje" na angielski (jakikolwiek by on nie był)A więc teraz po polsku

naprawdę nie ma za co przepraszać :)

Zgadzam sie.
Homogenik

You insinuated it but I don't mind.I wanted to tell that you may be raised on movies like that and still be friendly to other cultures.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Unfortunately not all Ukrainian or Russian guys are as rich and famous as Gomogarov.

I was raised on this story and I don't have anything against Ukrainians.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

And didn`t Domogarov/Bogun received only brief characteristics from side of Helena as ``A Terrible guy``?..

In the book she saw how he murdered ppl and that's why she was so against him.Btw many woman preffered Bogun (in the movie) than Skrzetuski

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Sorry, but Polish cinema and entire modern culture makes me sad

You have every right to feel sad if you want to.

Yes, but what is a sense to make movies after the novel of Sienkiewicz which is itself no more than
long, boring, racist eyewash of little historical accuracy?

I don't like Sienkiewicz to much but I like this movie (Domagarow, mmmmmmmmm :D).And even if I wouldn't like it-it's a part of Polish culture.

No talk of Poles and Ukrainians who would fruitfully
cooperate on some advanced task. For example space colonization in the future.

Seriously?I would like to see that movie.I would laugh so hard

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

I would be glad to know mind of Poles on the following events:

First:Some dumb idiots wanted to fight and found excuse to do so.
Second-Maybe Figuski meant it as a joke but it turned out horribly and he should ackowledge it and very sincerly say that he's sorry.

Few years ago I saw such Polish movies as ``Battle of Warsaw 1920`` (Bitwa Warszawska 1920)
in which `Russian`` soldiers are pictures as a typical ``Untermensch``
As I`ve understood from this move the largest crime of ``bolsheviks`` was their intention to redistribute the land
from the rich to the poor.Probably in Polish eyes this is a totally unforgivable sin.

Probably that was the point

and ``With fire and sword`` (Ogniem i mieczem)

It's Sienkiewicz book so in that time ppl probably thoght that they were our enemies.

Law / Real wages drop in Poland [28]

Drop the teaching-it's only one proffesion.I also haven't noticed anything spectacular. My family is safe since they work in public companies but even my friends that work in private sector earn the same.

The jobs I'm mentioning:accountant, railwayman, job in prison, restaurants and supermarkets.

USA, Canada / Emigrate from the USA - the sequence of events [207]

f stop: I know of two different couples, friends of the family, that went back to Poland for retirement, and both came back to US within few years.

I know a lady who went back to Poland after over thirty years in the US and now she's crying and wants to go back to the States.

My uncle (Germany) also wanted to retire to Poland but he though about it and decided to stay in G.Most ppl want to come back because of sentimental reasons but forget that during their emigration many things changed, ppl got married, had kids and even died.No-one will stop their lives just for them.So when they come back after many years they find out that it's not the country they have left.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

What would happen to Poles if USSR would loose WWII to Hitler and Poland would be under Nazies rule?

We were!As well as under Russians. We can concentrate on the second part of the WWII but don't forget it started in 1939.What would happen if USSR helped Poland instead of invading?

To like something and to be obsessed by sth are two different things.I liked his idea that Slavic countries should help each other but most of the time I thought he was living in alternative world

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

I like Russians and Ukrainians (in my imagination that is, since I don't really know any) and as to the language...
Not one of my friends can understand a Russian sentence. Before I started to learn Russian I could only hear single words but after I learnt a thing or two Russian vocabulary was quite easy. The thing is that you have to learn some rules and then it's like opening the door-suddenly you see all the similarities.I have to disappoint you Vlad -most Poles don't understand Russian and Czech or Slovakian would be much more legible to them.

I used to think a Slavic Union might be good thing,

Incarnation of Crow :D

P.S.Vlad pls don't say that we were saved by Soviet Union in WWII.We were stabbed in the back is more like it.

USA, Canada / Emigrate from the USA - the sequence of events [207]

Lenka,I know this is standard, have you read this thread?People make it sound like there's no help available for anyone here.

I read it all, laughed (bacause of the way this tread changed it course) and only then decided to replay.I know you can get help in U.S. but the discussion is about the prices.I've never been in the States so I cannot say how it really is but the argument that in life threatening situations you can get help is useless.Surely you'd get a bill afterwards?

If you go to a Hospital in this country with a life threatening injury or ailment; No Hospital can refuse you care.

It's a standard in half civilised countries. If it wasn't like that in U.S. I would indeed call it a third world country. :)

News / PiS-PSL-LPR? [23]

I would denay it.Maybe this opinion wasn't so popular back in the 2005 but many ppl thought they're nuts.

News / PiS-PSL-LPR? [23]

You're determined to frighten me.
There two groups of ppl:
1-ppl who respect and pay attention to everything that happens even if they don't like it
2-ppl who ignore the reality and pay attention only to the things they think are right.
Polonius you're the second type
I was a student when PiS ruled and belive me-the vaaaaaaaaast majority of young ppl were repulsed by the actions of government. It may be hard for you to acknowledge but either you like it or not young ppl are going to choose.

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

Yes,but not necessarily at the day of elections.I agree it's not great solution but at least we have this. Thanks to this I was able to vote the last time.

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

PiS would need to get at least 45% of the vote to form a government (as they cannot form a coalition). They won't get more than 30%, probably less as they'll lose voters to SP

I know there's very little possibility but...I still have nightmares after the first time :)

Personally, I'd hope for the ability to vote wherever you like - all it would take would be the use of a computer to register the PESEL number of the voter and the number of their identity document. You have to show ID when voting anyway, so it wouldn't be a hardship to maintain a list of who exactly has voted so far that day.

You can vote wherever you want.Take a certificate from the place where you're registered and you can do what you want.

And the majority of Poles will always vote to make sure that the kind of idiots who clogged up Warsaw last weekend never get anywhere near government.

At least we can hope. Remember that the same nation chose PiS.In this case I have to agree with polonius-you can never know what ppl will do. Especially when they're frustreted.

History / Welcome to Lemmingrad! [59]

If you're unfamilair with it that only means you do not fraternise with real Poles, only fringe-goup yuppies, careerists, toadies and others brown-nosing the powers that be.

Why everybody want to convince me I'm not Polish?I heard this expresion but it's nothing important. And certainly I wouldn't compare it to the occupation times. And you know why?Because anyone who thinks PO shouldn't run this country CAN vote for someone else.

TV Trwam to nasze Westerplatte i nie możemy zdezerterować’.

This is just wrong and stupid.
