My Norwegian friends don't want to taste anything foreign... at all if possible but if I lurk them into something foreign and they DON'T know about it, often they say something good about it. Becaouse there were/are idk two villages with that name between the battle in 1410.

Obviously the battle in 1914 was closer to Tannenberg or something like that, and as the German state won. They wanted it to be "the revenge of the lost battle" that before were weren't the mightiest but now nobody can stop us and the Slavs are weaker then us now concept.

the battle in 1410 can be referred to as battle of Grunwald or Tannenberg or even the Lithuanian vrsion wich I can't remember (gotta learn it)

But it's more of who you emphesize with, in Norway it's usely used Tannenberg since the sources come from Germans. But it's sometimes mentioned Grunwald (Tannenberg)

So it really depends on wich language you use :)

So people like you for who you are, but mind you I wouldn't like foreigners speaking Russian to me in Poland becaouse it would feel that Russian language is the langua france wich is not, and I dearly hope it won't ever be again. The army was dissolved to avoid further unnecassery bloodshed as allied troops were moving out of Norway. free voulenteers escaped to Britain. Rest stayed, some as others have pointed out feelt grief over the defence of Norway and the escape of the government. (Not many really blamed the king as he had familly in GB)

Even NS didn't try to confront the King in propagand unless ive skipped something. They mostly blamed the allies and sometimes allmost made them look like pirates (skull flags etc)

The King said the fight must go on! But there were pro-axis generals and leaders in the Norwegian army. Good example of how Narvik got into Axis hands in the first place.

Norway was a Monarchy a constitutional one. What the King says in war the other agree to it. He said we won't give up, the rest of the government said ok, even tho they considered surrender.
