Feedback / Why PolishForums? Give us your stories! [60]

Why PolishForums?

For the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, why else?

I didn't know about forums before this one, I could barely type and only used the internet for emails and to watch stuff.
PF has helped me a great deal in my computer abilities believe it or not, how things work.

And it's the witty comments, passionate fighting and wackos that keeps us here.

And it doesn't take much to run this on my dying computer.

Life / Only the poor Poles are buying at Biedronka? [32]

Biedronka's Portugese isn't it?

Anyway, I shop there sometimes, it's easier than carrfour.
It is cheaper than most places apart from farmer's markets but I have to becareful what I buy, they have very similar packaging to well known brands but are tasteless cheap replicas.

But most of the stuff is grand, it's the saem as Lidls isn't it?

News / Polish Jesuits created a Facebook site for non-believers. Atheists not a total waste? [70]

The God who created the world with all its evil and suffering is the God who also agreed to participate in our pain, who took on a human form and willingly died the death of tortured prisoner. That is the distinctive concept of Christianity.

A fairy tale is still just a fairytale.

So when you get sick, do you just pray yourself well or do you take medicine?

this sentence being only the evoking of the actual situation in the 19th century.

An update compared to 2000 years ago.

News / Polish Jesuits created a Facebook site for non-believers. Atheists not a total waste? [70]

But how can you conclude there is no God if you look into the eyes of a child or gaze at the beauty of nature?

Who is to answer?

Is this the same god who invented typhoid, cancer, smallpox, polio, cholera, ebola, malaria, earthquakes and tsunamis?
I wonder what you'd think of if you looked into the eyes of a child and saw a crippling disease, I would hope you'd bring the child to a hospital.

all things dull and ugly

First, it was taken for granted that these other races were "lower on the evolutionary scale" than Europeans (What, after all, had they invented? Where were their railway trains?)

What a complete and utter load of rubbish.

News / "Shale Gas Revolution" will make Poland a Leading Country in Europe! [202]

At least not today and not tomorrow:

What about the day after tomorrow, Monday?:

Shale gas production in Poland may start much faster than previously announced. It's a surprise, because it is said of the prospect of even two or three years, and until recently it was seven years older.

Life / Are there aliens already in Poland? What do Polish people think about extraterrestrials? [34]

the odds of any alien species being at a similar enough evolutionary level that they could communicate with us, much less have anything to say,

Is very high in such a gigantic universe as ours.

Communicating across such long distances would be tricky, until we learn how to stop wormholes from collapsing, it's just a pipe dream ;)

but really, if I were not from earth, I am not sure I would want to contact humans anyway maybe dolphins or mice, you know on of the higher forms of life.

There are more stars (not planets but stars like our sun) in the Universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches and deserts on our planet.

Language / Polish nationality insults in Polish? [67]

syphilis Alternative names Wiki

syphilis had been called the "French disease" in Italy, Poland and Germany, and the "Italian disease" in France. In addition, the Dutch called it the "Spanish disease", the Russians called it the "Polish disease", the Turks called it the "Christian disease" or "Frank disease" (frengi) and the Tahitians called it the "British disease".

Genealogy / MeKenen, trying to find some information from a marriage listing? [3]

I do know that he lists a Tit (Father) Rulena(Mother) in a marriage listing. Any kind ideas of what the translation could be. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

This is not very clear, perhaps you could rephrase it?

Do you mean that you do know that your husband's father's name was Tit and the mother's Rulena?
Neither of which mean anything in Polish that I am aware of.

News / POLES FEEL LIKE JEWS HAVE TOO MUCH CONTROL IN POLAND - TRUE? [209]

rychlik

From your article:

According to the report, 49.9 percent. Poles believe that their country's Jews have too much influence.

Which is good news as Harry's article says 55% of Poles think that Jews have too much power, says survey.

So it has gone down 5.1% :)

Seriously though, I agree with the few above who think it's rubbish.

News / Poland - Third World Country?? [300]

Social exclusion, agoraphobia, divisiveness, ghettoisation and many more.

When I think of gated communities, i think of jamaca or South Africa, with proper guys with machine guns and all.
In Warsaw is it just a fence around a block that only the inhabitants can enter? or like a whole microcity?

The problems associated with them are well known

What are the problems with them?

If people want to lock themselves up, what difference does it make?

Off-Topic / How would Poles react to a visit from Queen Elizabeth? [72]

I mentioned the "I" word in the opening post to give context. Shouldn't have bothered.

Yeah, pity two trolls came on here to bash Ireland.

The Brits did not bail out Ireland they bailed out their own banks and hid the fact from the British people. It’s a nice little earner for them…borrowed at 2% lent at almost 6%

Ireland is one of Britain's main export partners (at almost 7%), what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

However, one thing is not being able to relate, another is to be ignorant about it.
Hague is the latter.

I think the worst thing about Irish history is the denial and/or twisting of the actual events.
Britain has really improved their relationship with Ireland over the last few years, simply by admitting the injustices of the past.
We've come a long way, long enough it appears for the queen to visit, so it's all good.

Off-Topic / How would Poles react to a visit from Queen Elizabeth? [72]

McAleese (great President by the way

What makes you say that?
I have met her, didn't think much of her.
I liked Mary Robinson, very clever lady.

Mind you, the majority elect parties who want to stay in the UK, not join with the Republic...

I would like to see Ireland reunited but it is more important that there is no killing, Irish people have rights in the six counties, able to find employment, anti discrimination laws are in place, have a police force and basic human rights.

As for a majority, that would have to include all counties to be democratic.

As for the Queen, yeah sure, why not? Deep down every true blooded Irishman wants to shag the queen, not cause she's good looking, just cause youz have shagged us so much historically ;)

I always remeber this one : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Fagan_incident

Life / 'Whites only' nightclubs in Warsaw? [51]

I never said it but what's your reaction to Harry's "Pay no attention to the hate-filled Americans" . Do you believe that all Americans are hate-filled?

Just for you guesswho (beacuse I haven't been able to guess who), I will post what I wrote again:

Not to say that there are not fucktards here in Poland too but just that these particular fucktards aren't Polish.

To be honest PB, I would like you to answer this one:

And does that make you feel proud?

We ship 'em to you there

I thought that was the whole problem in the first place doug.
Nice to see you branching out from your usual anti-Semitism and embracing the full spectrum of hate.

And does that make you feel proud?

Youtube is full of videos about Polish racism too.

That in no way means all Poles are racists.

And it would be child's play to fix a survey to give the results one wanted to have.

Yes, I think that was pgtx's point and it's true, journalists need to 'find'/create a story, otherwise they have just blown money sending a dozen guys on the town.

But...always a but... it doesn't mean that (many) bouncers aren't scumbags themselves and would do such a thing.

The Polish ppl I have met are beautiful soles who never spread hate toward others.

The two main people who are 'proud' of this are not Polish, one is American and the other Belgium.
Not to say that there are not fucktards here in Poland too but just that these particular fucktards aren't Polish.

It's interesting to see that 'jungle bunny' has joined 'kyke' on the list of terms which are acceptable here.

Just checking if I can use fucktard.

Wow. I like the fact that he was more interested in making sure that the cute black guy didn't go near the woman, than being interested in the woman herself.

Do you think once Jarnowa goes black he'll never come back?
