News / What is Poland's politics towards Norway? [56]

Seanus
Oh thank you. It's allways about American politics in Poland or vise versa or other. So why not Norway? ^^

Mr Grunwald, my wife would be very grateful to learn about Norway and Norwegian language.

Oh dear, shall I send you a message on PM or?

I understand that Polish-Norwegian relations are quite healthy.

How awkward it sounds it is good. (I still look upon Norwegian naive politics towards the Russian federation as a huge negative aspect)

She wants me to learn Norwegian with her so I might write a little.

I see, WARNING I don't teach Nynorsk only Bokmål(My god who on earth would want to learn that)

I wonder if Tusk knows where Norway is, though :(

As a Prime Minister of Poland he knows for sure where it is, especially thinking that there are loads of Poles here (in percentage, 100k of 4 mil isn't small)

Tusk repaired some school in Tromsö in Norway in 89' so I bet he knows it ;-)

I knew it! What? repaired some school?! :o

What an old thread anyway

Ye somehow people don't wanna talk about Norwegian-Polish relationship it's so "dull" for em

Off-Topic / Europe according to Poles and other European nations [44]

Europe through Polish eyes

I find it quite amusing.

All of this are either translations I couldn't put on the map or questions of what they mean, as I myself couldn't understand it.

Portugal: Mała Hiszpania = Little Spain
Morocco: No idea what it's about
Algeria: Dzicz = savages
Denmark: Olsen gang (known TV series)
France: No idea what it's about
Belgium: No idea what it's about
Netherlands: trawa=grass & Pedzie = No idea what it's about
Austria: Mały Hitler = Little Hitler
In some parts of Yugoslavia: Wojna = War
Macedonia: Co to? = What's this?
Greece: Gorąco! = Hot!
Bulgaria: PRL = Commie Poland
Romania: Cyganie = Gypsy
Czech Rep: No idea what it's about
Moldavia: Winko= Wine
Hungary= Gulasz= Goulash
Belarus: No idea what it's about
Latvia: Lithuania nr 2
Estonia: Lithuania nr 3
In southern part of France & Cyprus: No idea what it's about
Syria: Savages
Most eastern parts of the map which haven't been translated= No idea what it's about

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

Thanks for the link Gruni! :)

No problem (Kein problem)

It's rather interesting that all this happened first after full polonisation of the German element.

Still the German element was there, it's the mixing itself with a lot of cultures which made the Polish culture so unique at that time.

Love / Do you think that Polish should stick to Polish? [128]

personally I hear the best men around are guys of Polish heritage, raised in Scandinavia who now live in the US.

I AM MOVING TO USA ^^

If your family oriented and want your children to grow up in a Polish environment I would suggest moving to Poland for sure. Or finding an Pole living in Canada for instance.

Love comes and goes blood/spirit stays forever in ones heart

DISCLAIMER: this was not meant as an endorsement of American English over British English, which it isn't. I didn't want to start a flame war.

huh?

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

Veit Stoß a clearly German artists who did alot of cool work for now-polish towns but still is and was a German. ;)

Even if in-fact he was, he was still accepted as a Pole from the Polish community for all work he had done for Poles.
And Germans called him a Pole when he went back to Germany...

It's not a fact to call someone a Pole it's an honor!
If you look back in history there were no Poles 1000 years ago, there were Lędzianie, Mazowszanie etc

It's the connection of tribes wich made them all Polish (the cause itself, the joint to survive together) and anyone wanting to join it, can call himself a Pole if he truely feels like one in spirit. Piłsudski saw on himself as Pole/Lithuanian, Lithuanian body with a Polish soul. That's why the Lithuanians don't like him. He refused to acknowledge anything like separational Lithuania.

A true I RP thinker

BB
look at commonwealth.pl and check up the "Deutsche Vita" the choir music is wonderful (the best ive ever heard)

and yes Piłsudski is going to be Poland's king of all time! :D

Life / Can foreigners really understand Poles? [136]

I speak 3 languages, and understand 5. It's not so uncommon in Western/Northern Europe.

I speak 3 too! (allmost 4) and understand dozens! (You ask me the dialects in Norway is kinda their own language -.- I am a mastermind!!)

History / Poland's General Anders and one of the biggest "What Ifs?" of WW2 [31]

And you underestimate the considerable punch of the western allies and the Wehrmacht as a combined force.

The army would be enough maybe... but the political will was never there.
(Except for Churchill but the americanos didn't want it)

History / Poland's General Anders and one of the biggest "What Ifs?" of WW2 [31]

As a half Pole it's all nice to read but as a strategist as hobby I would just /sigh

Unless somebody in the west would support such things as even giving them weaponry or positive speech out in the public then they maybe would have a chance.

But you DO know the ATTITUDE of the "Allies" after WW2 about SU? :)

History / Polish hatred towards Jews... [1290]

I've read tons of sh!t spilled on Kossak on that forum and many, many others.
She was nothing. Poles were nothing.

Yeah I can bet, that in your imaginery life ALL Poles should have have taken arms (wich even the home army didn't have plenty enough of) and rise up against the Germans (helping Jews alone was a death sentence) and freed all Jews back to their safe homes (wich weren't since Poles were shot out at streets and Germans could walk into a building without any problems)

Could you possibly think of where the underground army could have put thoose Jews IF they got liberated?

Neither Soviets or other Allies helped when the Home Army was giving out information on what was happening and they CLEARLY Couldn't do it ALONE!

You gotta be really... ill save that for myself!

Been trying to educate people it's the SPIRIT! That matters :)
Who cares how you pronunce "NO" when everyone gives you a grim face!

One doesn't need to know how to write Kurwa to carry the Polish flag!!

What is "sheeple"?

Just so you wouldn't feel dumb I had the same question :p

News / Poland's fidelity to support wars and its limits. [46]

fighted grimly for independance but was vanquished by Russia.

Yes you wish that, last time I checked it was Prussia-Austria-Russia
I dream that it was solely Russia :)

So, you can count the train of surrenderings since 1792 if you want

Then how come Poland regained it's independence in 1918 and later on in 1989?

If it would surrendered it would have given on a plate...
Wich I remember didn't get...

To be submissive or resigned; to yield without murmuring.

I can't remember that the Polish people didn't murmur :p

I agree Russia had control of some parts of Poland (later Soviet Union the whole) but that Poland was submitted? Hardly think so!

News / Poland's fidelity to support wars and its limits. [46]

It is not a singular event but a process long-drawn in time. Just wait a culmination.

Yet you said "again". When have Poland been submitted to Russia in the past?

1# (v. t.) To leave or commit to the discretion or judgment of another or others; to refer; as, to submit a controversy to arbitrators; to submit a question to the court; -- often followed by a dependent proposition as the object.

2# (v. t.) To yield, resign, or surrender to power, will, or authority; -- often with the reflexive pronoun.
3# (v. i.) To yield one's person to the power of another; to give up resistance; to surrender.
4# (v. i.) To yield one's opinion to the opinion of authority of another; to be subject; to acquiesce.
5# (v. i.) To be submissive or resigned; to yield without murmuring.
6# (v. t.) To put or place under.
7# (v. t.) To let down; to lower.

WHEN did Poland SURRENDER to Russia?

Perhaps at the end of forthcoming decade you will be submitted to Russian will again.

You have no clue what Russia/Soviet Union has tried to do the last centuries?

However, there is one thing I cannot bear with patience, their blind and stupid habit to choose wrong allies and irritate mighty neighbours to no purpose.

Hey folx im planning on putting an box of explosives near the Russian ambassy in Warsaw leaving a fireplace near it, and some paper with the writings: "Burn baby Burn motha****ers! Go go Poland!"

That will fresh up Poland-Russian relations!

Life / Russian Language - is it offensive if I speak it to Polish people? [69]

Would you feel better if I spoke English to you or Swedish? (both are not native for me)

Depends on why, just to demonstrate (wouldn't feel anything)
Since your Polish/Russian I wouldn't feel anything if you use English OR Swedish.
But if I got the feeling that Norwegians = Sweeds then I would been frustrated.

Either then that nope
