Life / In Poland for a few months, where to buy digital balances? [9]

I don't know any medical drugs that you must weight like this by yourself.

I know your immediate impression my friend but sometimes everybody needs to split a pill into the two equal halves ;)

Life / In Poland for a few months, where to buy digital balances? [9]

I need to buy one of those little digital balances that weight 0.1g+

You don't need a credit card. You can choose za pobraniem payment method and
then have to pay when postman arrives (28zl + 14zl shipment)

Life / Why Poland is "surprised" by winter and snow every year? [192]

to shovel all of it into his parking space and then add all the snow from round and on top of my car.

Good job! You are full-time Pole now ;)

I bet if the presidential election in Olsztyn was this sunday then the streets would be so cleared

It looks so funny because one street next to front of my house has one owner and second has another. First is clean including parking bays but second looks like Alpine ski resort ;)

In workplace we can feel safe because we have this

Life / Foreigners commenting on Poland - a minefield? [30]

Its totally true, a Pole at work will not do anything unless he is told to

To understand that you should learn how it works in Poland. You are the boss. You pay the salary and have to make orders. We are expected to carry out orders not to thinking. Because our thinking (even logical) may not harmonize with boses thinking. They may be gangstas, thieves or swindlers and you never know what is their present plan. co poeta ma na myśli ;)

So you should gather employees and say I want you guys to be creative now. Thinking is welcomed and will be appreciated ;)

Love / Good looking Polish women with ugly men [416]

Hmm guys I rarely noticed here (PF) threads like that how to repair Polish lock, tap, radiator, shower etc but plenty of lets say gossip threads (obrabianie dupy). Big noses, bald heads etc Maybe due of 50 years of deep freeze we are still more masculine than Western guys?

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

We are more pious then most countries.

Pious when it is convenient to us. Living according to the Ten Commandments not always works out fine for us.

Life / What do Poles want, what drives them...? [58]

Is it their peity

I wasn't in church for about 20 years I think and no one from my family go to the church regularly. We don't have time for that. Many of us (Poles) working on Saturdays and we want stay at home on Sunday. I wonder why there is a common belief that we are especially piety. Maybe this is Polonia thing?

money

Bingo :) We need money (savings) because we feel financially insecure and have very long list things to buy. When we reach some level of affluence we will think what next :)

UK, Ireland / Long-term impact of returning UK Poles to Poland [21]

None, as in "we only went there for the money"? Or will the UK experience affect Poland?

I think nothing will change rapidly. It was good lesson for us. We still want driving fast without speed cameras on our back and feel safe on the street without looking around for a bottle, knife or screwdriver. We will appreciate more what we have here in Poland.

Love / Black British Jamaican woman loves Polish friend but how do I tell him? [16]

but how do I tell him?

You can say no to chodz tu tygrysie :)

Ask him if he really want to live in the UK for good or consider another country to develop your love. There are no jobs in Poland and we aren't patient with non speaking Polish people as the English are.

News / Eighteen people die in road accident in Poland [10]

We have fifty years to make up for, chasing West so everyone is hurry up :/
Newer and faster car is tempting. I'm not a Saint (although Peter) but trying hard. Believe me. I hope we will find a Harley peace of mind earlier than RIP.

Life / Can you buy de-icer in Poland? [11]

I have noticed that most of my Polish friends don't have a clue what it is!

We just use plastic foil, cloth or towel to cover up the windscreen.
eg Me. I start my work at 7oo so I have to leave home at 6:50. There is no time for spraying :)

Work / Moving to Poland (from the UK) to take a teaching position. Tips? [34]

or anything at all may have forgotten about?

Take you favourite pills with you. Even we have zillion pharmacies per km^2
we don't have drugs such as in the UK. I know it because I was searching through
pharmacies in Devon once and they have only the others ;)

Prices are 45 PLN for the girls and 85 PLN for the boys.

Widely known that boys can drink a lot of beer and eat twice than girls. Let's punish them ;)

UK, Ireland / Car registered in Poland. Ownership transfer from England? [8]

You can send buyer with plates and papers to Poland for one month. If seller address and buyer address belong to the same district and car have new, white plates you can avoid changing plates. If MOT deadline is distant you can avoid take car to Poland to pass MOT.

but you do it at your own risk ;)

UK, Ireland / Car registered in Poland. Ownership transfer from England? [8]

It`s registered on friends name but I need to transfer it on another`s friends name (both Polish).

Transfer like what? as sale? Buyer should pay Polish tax.

or I can do it from abroad by sending copy of documents?

I don't think so. They may want to change car's plates and see the tax payment and insurance receipt. Obtain new papers take one month. If you have bad luck they may refer the car to pass MOT.
