UK, Ireland / Are you Poles proud of your country? Then why do you keep coming to Britain? [100]

why do they flock in their droves?

Flock in droves? Can you post some numbers so we can learn what "in droves" means?

For money?

Yeah.What's wrong with that?

That's quite shallow in ways!

How is it shallow? And what else do you have to offer?

I've heard a lot of criticism of GB from Poles

Can't you Brits take a little bit of critisism?

Work / How can Americans of Polish descent get work in Poland? [22]

He is referring to nepotism, grubas. Back scratching is quite a common thing but it isn't so clear-cut here in Poland. Foreigners obviously have it that much harder for clear reasons.

True, this is a big problem mainly in government agencies.I thought he was saying it's perfectly normal to fly to PL and ask a strange person to employ you "at least on paper" because you need work visa.Isn't work visa valid for one job (work place) only anyway?

Ask any relatives in Poland to look around, ask their friends etc for someone who can offer you a job (at least on paper). It seems odd or inappropriate by US standards but it's perfectly normal in Poland.

Normal?I don't think this is normal.Sure if you were a friend of mine I would try to help you out but if you approached me as a strange person I wouldn't do it and i think 99% of Poles wouldn't either.Tell me why do you think it is perfectly normal in Poland?

History / What was it like in 1989+ in Poland when the Soviet house of cards fell? [237]

Some of these fruits can't be grown in cold climates like Poland. For example, cherry. Are you sure it is grown there or imported?

I am positive I was stealing all this fruits as a kid.My block (very nice btw, smallest apt was 78sq meters, mine was 90) was in the youngest part of town and ,behind it were only fields and gardens so me and my buddies were often going get some fruits,we were calling it "iść na careśnie or agrest etc."And people always had plenty of homemade jams and preserves.

If you really, really want to distinguish the two you can call wiśnie 'sour cherries' but many English speakers will interpret that as a cherry that's gone sour rather than a different fruit....

So you don't agree with me they are different fruits? To me they are and to every Pole as well,I like czereśnie way better than wiśnie.I don't see how can you classify them as the same fruit, they taste completly different. If I asked for czereśnie and got wiśnie I would want refund.

History / What was it like in 1989+ in Poland when the Soviet house of cards fell? [237]

Back in my day it was solely bruised apples. That's it. (strawberries in the summer).

So you never seen pears, blueberries, gooseberries, black and red currants, plums, raspberries, cherrys,WHAT'S CZEREŚNIE IN ENG? and apricots in Poland?Strange because I'v seen plenty.Truth is that tropical fruits were not common in stores but there was always plenty of fruits grown in Poland.

even more Eastern Germans escaped through Hungary (they presumably went for vacation in Hungary and in 1988 Hungary dropped border controls on the Austrian border)

True. Not many people know that also majority of Russian Jews made it to Israel thru Poland in early 90's.But that was a deal striked between Soviet and Israeli government and executed with the help of Polish secret service.

Most of them on flying machines called planes, paid for by West German government.Poland was already "free" but East Germany was still communist.East Germans were allowed to go Poland but not to West Germany. It didn't last long but thousends of East Germans made it west thru Poland.

Maybe,I don't know I was too young in 1981 but I remeber "Wasz prezydent, nasz premier ..a lato muminków".

So, Poles, especially older than 30+ years, were you happier before 1989 or are you happier now?

Sure we were happier because we were kids or teenagers before 1989

Travel / Driving to Poland from England - any tips? [264]

I recommend choosing large "brand" stations such as Statoil, BP, Shell, etc.

Nothing wrong with the most of Orlen or Lotos gas stations which both thankfully are still Polish

How and why would they do that?

What do you mean why?to escape to West Germany.Polish news were showing them besieging West German embassy in Warsaw. If you look for it you can find videos of them.Once they crossed to Poland they were free and could go West Germany.

How and why would they do that?

You 7 y/o or what?To keep some power, influence and takover this way or another many state companies.

Did he have any political challengers or was he just "decried President for life"?

The FIRST President of "free" Poland was General Wojciech Jaruzelski. The deal was "Wasz prezydent, nasz premier"...."a lato Muminków"(a joke). That means the President was to be "commie" (Jaruzelski) and Prime minister a "Solidarity" guy (Mazowiecki).Wałęsa was a SECOND President of "free" Poland.

So illuminate me Grubas ;)

Hope I just did a little bit. This time in Polish history will be more investigated in I guess at least 20 years. Many authors of Magdalenka deal is still alive and they want people to know the truth.I guess you don't know that Polish (unlike e.g Czechs)people never learned who was a SB snitch because most of people in Sejm voted AGAINST exposing secret SB associates. You can guess why.

What I am telling you are not any secrets.

and they want people to know the truth.

I meant they DON't want ofc.

Yes L.Balcerowicz WAS A MEMBER OF PZPR (COMMIES).
Are you part of the regime or just an idiot?"Velvet revolution" kurwa ,don't even **** me off.Romanians got it right with executing this p o s Ceaucescu and the Poles should have done the same with their "leaders".But I hope not everything is lost yet and the Poles will overthrow the regime. Now, if you are part of it RUN because when we get you, your best bet is a liftime in a labor camp building highways for Polish people.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

So,this is legal in Poland.I was asking because in state of Maryland it's basicaly against the law to record conversation without all involved parties consent. That means your trick would get you in troubles here unless you could prove that you informed this contractor that the conversation is being recorded.

Hey what the wall has to do with Poland?

I think you are expecting too much from him Iron. They ("westerners") were (are) being feed with propaganda and they simply have no clue.

What was the mood of the people/country when the wall came down?

Not many cared.Poles were travelling freely to West Berlin months before Berlin wall came down and during this period East Germans were escaping to West Germany thru Poland.

How/when were the commies ousted?

"Commies" were never ousted.

did Wałęsa have any challengers?

Challengers to what?
Look rybnik you will not believe but there wasn't any revolution in Poland. The "commies" how you call them made a deal with PART of Solidarity movement in which deal they agreed to SHARE some power. As for Lech Wałęsa aka Bolek he was a f u c k i n g snitch of SB not any hero.

Travel / Motorcycle tour of Poland [137]

Many Poles like bikes too,

I don't know about that but I hate these biker fags because I can't stand this ******* noise they make.I understand some people may like motorcycles but then they should get themselves electric ones or go some remote desert and ride their bikes there instead of making other people suffer. Now,if that will make bikers feel better I hate hot rod douchebags too for the same reason.

Hey Grubas....we are looking for some land for our next biker party....

do you have any space for 400 plus bikers and a music stage....?

Yeah,I actually do.In Kalahari desert.Fags.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

In the UK? Almost certainly.

Who cares about UK?None of the individuals involved is a British citizen. All I am saying, is if she decide to go to PL with a baby and plays it right nobody will touch her.I would do that instead on relaying on British court.

So don't speak about matters You don't know **** about. I understand You're pissed off because he did a Polish girl repeatedly and You don't, but please have some dignity.

Yeah like I don't have any other problems.

who happens to be Polish, I judge from the spelling )

I am as Polish as one can be,said that like 10000 times already so no need to judge.Anyway what's wrong with the spelling you are refering to???

I also wonder if Kurt obtained residency in the UK thru marriage to this poor girl? And if I was her I would go to Poland and immidiately start custody case.

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

She does or she doesn't that's not the point. The point is that she can take baby to Poland and this dude can't do anything about.I mean seriously, do you think that any court would charge her with kiddnaping her own baby?

Love / I need advice: divorce and my rights as a father in Poland [165]

she is aware what the implications will be on her if she decides to run off to Poland without my consent it will take some time but i could have our child returned to the country and she could potentially be charged with kidnapp

What implications?Charged with kidnapp? She is the mother and I understand she has custody, and there is no way anybody will give her problems if she decide to move to PL with a baby. The mother and the child are citizens of Poland and no court in PL will give her hard time.I don't see how you can stop her from going to Poland and this is exactly what she should do.Good luck fighting her in Polish court as a foraigner who does not even know what is happening around him.Moving to Poland with her is a very bad idea, your marriage is over and in Poland she will quickly find a bf and what are you going to do since you don't even speak the language?

UK, Ireland / Are Poles in UK really that big of a deal? [112]

however grubas jumped down my neck and said we should make all immigrants legal.

Well,I was being sarcastic.Everyone here knows that when it comes to Poland I am a staunch immigration opponent, though I tolerate Americans(for personal reasons) and EU nationals in Poland but when it comes to UK ,well you guys do what you want to,none of my bussines I only feel it is not fair to constanly bash Poles in British media since they seem to be the least of UK immigration problems(though being a Pole I admit I may be biased).

UK, Ireland / Are Poles in UK really that big of a deal? [112]

But try and see it through the eyes of some Brits, grubas. The government made a mess of things and they must bear the brunt of it. Call that fair? Many can't get back into work but the govt doesn't care.

I am pretty sure I understand ordinary Brits feelings quite well,my only issue here (like I already said) is that the Poles were made a scapegoat while there are milions of ILLEGAL workers from Asia and Africa in the UK and I don't see British media making a fuss about them but the Poles are constantly under the scope.Just watch the show "UK borders something" on YT.Your immigration system is a freaking joke.Arrested ILLEGAL workers are being released back to "circulation" when they say they have no passport and obviously none of them say he has one.

We need to ship out the scroungers ASAP. I mean like that Somali woman and so many others.

This is nothing my friend.Check this out.

those that were given to them by Brits in an incidental way.

It seems that Brits don't have a say anymore and all they can do is to moan about Poles.
