Love / Do Polish women have bad tempers? [49]

Floripa, I remember that name. He worked very hard to get that woman I gather. He was the poster that was asking about documents. Poor guy, to be put through hell to be put through hell yet again. Yeah, the water off the duck's back strategy doesn't always work. I've known quite a few women, not all Polish I might add, that dislike that approach.

A bit of advice for many guys. If things appear calm, remember that the temper or irritation is lurking just around the corner. There is certainly a quick-flipping mechanism inbuilt in many ;) ;)

UK, Ireland / Brits to protest against foreigners in the workforce, including Poles. [289]

The main guy who speaks here would be well received. He speaks well of the English and rightly says that some Poles need to lighten up. youtube.com/watch?v=TBzvyJrNzyo&feature=related

Many Poles are eazy-oazy so it's not that bad but some are very uptight.

Life / Getting ripped off in Poland! Is it normal? or should it be tolerated? [97]

youtube.com/watch?v=KMhi12obtmg
here's some cheating of Poles by Poles. It shows how desperate some people can be. It's quite a harrowing tale that she tells.

Such people know the desperation such Poles feel and they swick like mad. It shouldn't be tolerated but what's to be done? It happens!

Feedback / The image of Poland according to PolishForums [90]

Thanks as ever, Arien :)

... Tusk tries to raise his profile by using English. He did well but it's strange to see Kaczyński laughing. He'd make a hash of it, of that you can be sure. Hats off to Tusk for trying.

Language / "Na" and "W" , when to use? [15]

This is useful as there are some differences between English and Polish on this point.

For example, why is it not w Ukraina but na Ukraina? It is w Litwie/£otwie/Estoni.

Work / What are my chances in finding work at a callan school in Wroclaw? [22]

Absolutely. Rarely blowing my own trumpet for a second, I have all those but I feel that personality is the most important. Without this, lessons become stale and overly mundane. They go to Polish teachers for the systematic, methodical lessons.

Life / Why Poles are so crazy about their country? [55]

Poland has had to change its spots due to its history. Many are keen to know where they fit in in the overall scheme of things. That's a reason in and of itself.

USA, Canada / My wife wants to return to Poland...but I want to stay in the US [155]

Marriage is for life and you should remind her of that. There are all kinds of arrangements that can be made. I still believe that the man should stay as that is his life. My wife and I had talked about my views on returning to Scotland a lot before finally deciding to get married.

Love / Do Polish women have bad tempers? [49]

Whimpering is more how I see it. There are more bad tempered women in Scotland from my experience of having lived there for 23 years. Also, the stats will show that there are far more male victims of domestic abuse in Scotland than in Poland.

Life / What can citizens do to make Poland a better place to live? [125]

Not gonna happen, tony. It's rather ironic and funny that many have a laugh at 'wieśniaki' here but they are not much better themselves. It stuns me actually when I don't even hear a thanks for letting sb in ahead of me. If they have only a handful of items and I have a lot in my trolley then I wave them through. Nothing!! Surely the church doesn't teach that so where does it come from?

The problem is that many are just reacting to stressful work environments. If you are too light in this world, you will get cheated in many places. Sometimes a good boning solves the problem, albeit in the short term.

That's the strain that society places on them. They let themselves be pushed around but many here are pretty resilient.

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

Also, 50PLN in Poland can buy more than 12 pounds in the extortionate UK can. It's good to ask your school to set up 1-2-1 classes as this gives you the skills of a tutor and is some extra cash on the side.

ZIMMY is spot on with his remarks. Some girls I've seen here have a very limited concept of what respect for others' privacy means. They whine and blow out a lot of hot gas. This is also true of many Western women. I didn't really experience this is Asia where the women are very feminine and it is not in their nature to break the harmony or moan. They moaned in all the right ways :) :) ;) ;)

Some do and some don't. I can easily imagine that some of the kur*y I see walking around would breathe fire. The 'normal' girls I've know have odd tempers too. Moody for sure. My ex would suddenly snap for me touching her walls (in her flat) though I rarely did. I had a rare encounter with a girl in the middle of 2005. When I told her that I didn't want to be with her, she flipped. Another one later in the year played games so she was hoofed into touch. She was a headcase too. My wife, judgement reserved, has made sure that such one-off encounters haven't happened again.

I'm in full agreement with the first part. Some things you just have to let slide and many Poles can't do this. Like water off a duck's back it should be :)

The second point is spot on too. Those stressed-out jerks who push harder and harder to get more paper (banknotes) in their accounts are missing the point. Fine, go and drive your Ferrari or BMW to work but remember that it stays in the car park for 10 hours anyway. Then sb will scratch it unless you have a garage.

Well, it gets taken out after 3 months so it's not like it's going anywhere.

One thing Tusk could do to make Poland better would be to stop talking about taxing money 'na lokacie'. This is the whole reason people put money in, to make money for it just sitting there. Similar to the set-aside policy in the CAP.

Edutainment, nice term :) The easiest way to change things is to smile and start to rethink some rules. I find it hard to believe that I can't even get access to my own money 'na lokacie'. Just because my British passport lacks 2 letters, that's absurd!

A lot of nonsense is written on this forum but one thing which seems to run through many descriptions is the lack of taking responsibility. I've noticed it time and again. Taking responsibility is a must in so many jobs so kicking it to the sidelines is not an option.

Just to be more considerate of other people. For example, a delivery van was parked outside yesterday and my wife couldn't get past it as it was blocking her access to the road. This happens a lot in Scotland too.

Also, stop making transactions like battles. Try and relax, take a deep breath and try to negotiate in a civil way, not like a barbarian with a war-axe and sword.
