Des Essenties,the man should definitely not be vilified,but he messed up;man up,take your ticket and move on.That's what I say.Where it

happened and where he was from is inconsequential.It's bad enough that he had to be humiliated on tv as well.Lesson learned.

Des essenties,how is it off topic when we're discussing the topic and how we interpret the situation.I don't care what country it happened in

or who's police force it is,It's as simple as;you park in a breakdown lane and you risk a ticket in most places.Solution;don't do it.

I agree that a lot of times the police overreact on minor things.It is dangerous to be parked in a breakdown lane,I don't question his driving

ability at all.I bet he's a great driver.If not for the peeling knife and the camera's they probably wouldn't have come in as deep.They have to

respond to that though.

PlasticPole,could be,but we don't know one way or the other.We do know he was parked where he wasn't suppose to be and he ended up

with a ticket and this would have happened to you me or anyone else.I don't think he was being picked on.

I think he probably did wave the knife at the other motorists who reported that he did,He was certain that he would go to jail and that's why

we had the histrionics.Once he found out he wasn't going to jail,he calmed down immediately.I seriously doubt he was reacting that way to a

possible ticket.

PlasticPole,I know it was a misunderstanding,I was speaking as to the mindset of the police going in to the situation,until they can assess

for themselves,they have to assume the call is as reported.I figured it was because he thought he was going to be arrested that he behaved

that way.I'm glad he only got a ticket.

PlasticPole I agree they should have a spot,The police were responding to a call about a driver who was brandishing a knife when told he couldn't keep his truck there.Until they can actually assess the situation for themselves they have to treat it as such.I don't blame the police in how they handled it,nor do I think he was mistreated.

PlasticPole,You don't think the driver's behavior was a little erratic?I think the language barrier complicated the matter some.The cops will

always play it safe,especially in the UK;where they don't carry guns like the U.S. police..

Monia,I would say the cops looked more dumbfounded than dumb at the reaction of the driver.I thought they were very professional about it.

It's really simple he wasn't suppose to park there and he got dealt with..
