USA, Canada / Which countries are Americans usually traveling to? [114]

The problem is that they don't even feel like informing me about the reasons why they changed it. I couldn't find my thread earlier and that's how I found out about it.

It wouldn't be a big deal if the name change wouldn't change the character of my thread.

Don't know, ask the admin

I asked you because it could be that you as a mod, know something about it.

I have never had any problems

I never had any major problems either. I created this thread (or what it used to be when it first started) only to show that the statistics don't necessarily confirm the anti-American sentiment as it is on PF.

We travel all over the place.

hey, just wonder why you guys changed the name and with it the character of my thread?
It wasn't really meant to be about traveling but more about the sympathy level toward Americans abroad.

American people are good people

thanks

they are self center

so so, some are and some are not.

but did not ask the people that u.s. is murdering now and wait till imf is done with bailouts for piigs then ask them what they think about u.s. policies.

I hope, you won't be surprised that I have a different opinion here. I won't ask anyone as you also won't ask anyone who died in the war on terror. Case closed Marek11111.

Call me a racist if you want but I still don't care about the Muslims. I don't want to even discuss about it Marek11111 and if at all then not in this thread.

we have totally different political views Marek11111 and that's why I suggest, we'll go back to the topic. I asked you before, are you surprised that the numbers are still pretty positive for the Americans?

Yes Marek, it includes all countries. I personally don't see Israel as my friend. My friend is my country and my people, that's it.

Oh, I just see you are not Marek. Sorry about that but you guys are posting very similar stuff and that's why I made this mistake.

I'm serious about it.

Help for Africa, Haiti and all kinds of others but where's the help for our people?

I hate is the American gov

I don't hate it as long as it's good to its own people. At this point I have to admit that we definitely need a huge change, however our opinions (yours and mine) will be definitely totally different as far as the type of changes we both are expecting. What I want is a strong president, a patriot who will help his own people before he'll send any money abroad. It's not like I don't feel bad about people dying of hunger allover the world but at the moment this country needs to help itself. We can't be always held responsible for the welfare of the whole world.

Marek11111 and what does it have to do with the sexual life of the honey bees and in this case with this topic?
Are you surprised that the numbers are still pretty positive for the Americans? I can imagine, you must be really surprised about that as I know your opinion about your host country and its people.

the truth

exactly and the truth is that so many countries (as provided above) still like the US and the Americans.
No one will ever achieve to be liked by all. With people it's the same Marek11111 (you should know it).

Give it up man, there is no "truth"...we all just muddle through. If you think you have found "the truth" keep it to yourself and I will keep mine to myself...peace guaranteed! :)

good to see that there are still smart people around, thx BB :-)

what do you mean?

if we had the same thread about us.

good thread

thanks fuzzy. I gave Poland 6 8 8, I wonder what it would be in our case but then again, only people who physically lived here, should be voting. The problem is that in most cases, people tend to follow their sentiment and are not being very objective.

to you any opinion will automatically be filed under American bashing.

No, it always depends on how one expresses himself. I'm not going to call it bashing if one says he doesn't like America or Americans but I will call it bashing if one uses phrases like "stupid", "fat" etc.

As far as PF goes you’re confusing criticism with anti-Americanism.

Believe me, I realize the difference between those two. So tell me, when someone says that Americans are uneducated, stupid, fat and ugly, are you calling it criticism or bashing?

I don't have any problems with criticism at all, I just don't like bashing.
But now it's time to think positive.
Merry Christmas :-)

there aren't too many nations in this world that can match France's history and culture.

I have to laugh here (just a little bit), I wonder if you'll confirm your statement after going to one of the French restaurants (like I did) and hear farts coming from allover the place, LOL

I couldn't even finish off my meal, I call it environment pollution, lol
No, other than that, it's obviously right what you're saying about the French history and culture.
(I'm not sure about the matching part though).

Regardless of what happens on here generally speaking Americans and Brits get on very well. Theres always the usual digs thrown around over a beer or two but thats about it. Its the big (British) brother mentality:) - obviously....

OK, I shake your hand on that 1 (wonder if you accept it) Peace no war and a Merry Christmas anyway, :-)

I don't think the Mexies particularly like us. They like our dollar

this is exactly what I meant by saying it. They like the fact of making money here and they like our tourists leaving money in Mexico and this is most likely why the 44% of Mexicans "like" us.

Not American Jews though, i had a Jewish American friend back in Penn State she went to Novgorod i don't remember if it was a synagogue or cemetery she went to see but the people knew they were Jewish and constantly gave them dirty looks and yelled something in Russian.

I tell you something, despite the often very unfair way of running business by the Jews, I personally believe (I know my opinion won't be very popular on PF), that after what happened to them in the past (Holocaust), they deserve at least some respect if not sympathy from us all. I know, they're not very good "neighbors" in the Near East but they went through Hell like no one else ever did and I guess, their aggressive behavior has something to do with their past.

Maybe they're just scared that it might happen again. I wish we had a Jew here on PF to explain it to us how they really feel about all this.

But what's the deal with the French hating Americans?

I have some friends in France but in general they do have a problem with us and I believe with everyone else too. They hate to speak foreign languages (especially in France).

There's probably some error in that poll unless they managed to ask every single Mexicans and is it all Mexicans or just Mexicans over the age of 18?

well, not really, they should like Americans despite the anti Mexican sentiment. We have over 30 millions of Mexicans here and they keep sending money that they earn here to their relatives back in Mexico all the time. I see it as a good reason to like us.

To be perfectly honest, I think many British and Irish people have a slightly comical view of Amercians.

this is what I was always saying on PF, we are very different. The language (almost the same, lol) is just about the only thing that makes us look like we belong to the same "family".

As for an opening post, you seem to confuse attitute toward USA tourists with attitude toward USA politics (ie. war in Iraq or Afghanistan)...

no, believe me, I am not. Then again, you guys are a part of it in Afghanistan :-)

It was a shock to me when I asked some friends from europe (non uk) which accent on English they though sounded better "British or American" and they all said "British"

funny, I had a totally different impression and most of people I asked about it while in Poland, told me that they prefer our pronunciation. I guess, it depends who you meet.

I am just saying what the facts are! I am not saying I see it that way or that it's correct....

no big deal, Merry Christmas :-)

people mostly see as the English as British! While Welsh are Welsh, Scotts are Scotts.

unless they specify it right away where they're from, I see everyone who comes from the UK as a Brit (not meant as an insult). I know the deal about GB (England, Wales and Scotland but not N.Ireland) and the UK (all of them + N.Ireland)

That is true haha.. but in America "British" accent refers to England

hm, not to me though. British means anything from Great Britain to me.

Many more people have positive opinion of U.S.A, but not maybe that much about their military forces ;)

Actually it's a wrong approach as military itself doesn't make any decisions. They go wherever they're ordered to go.

I've always considered PF to be a refuge of scum and villainy

You said that.

For the record, I am completely non-surprised by this.

Why not, because the situation in Poland and UK can only be better than on PF? (lol)

Wonder what opinion Mexico has of us?

not that bad really.

You forgot the Scottish, but every country loves us ;)

I wonder if you like your people (countrymen)?

Wonder what opinion Mexico has of us?

44% of Mexicans like Americans (better than expected)

pewresearch.org/pubs/886/traveler-advisory

Where Else Do They Like Americans?

" In Poland, 70% give a thumbs-up to Americans. Americans also are well-regarded in Australia, where 66% voice positive views of them. The same is true in India, where 63% do. Majorities in three African nations also look with favor upon the American people. They include Tanzania, where 69% like Americans; South Africa, where 64% do; and Nigeria, where 62% do.

The pro-Americans vote is smaller, but still in the majority, in Russia (57%) and in Brazil (51%)".

When I compare those numbers with what I hear and see on PF I come to the conclusion that something ain't adding up here. Either the site is lying or some of you on PF are not representing the general opinion of the population of your country.
