News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

[quote=Havok]Do you hate blacks as well, they tend to shop at walmart a lot too and also Polish immigrants favor it because of all the discounts they offer.

I am only pointing out that marketing for Jews in Poland is a recipe for financial disaster.See,70 or so years ago there was a holocaust or something like that (I don't know the details) in Poland and all the Polish Jews dissapeared somewhere.

And what's wrong with pointing out that someone is a Jew?I thought you guys are proud to be Jews.Your comments are anti semitic and if I didn't know you are a Jew I would think that you are some kind of Nazi or something.

What is up with you and your Jew hating statements? They're just people like us.

How was my post a "hating statement"?And no,they may be people like you but surely not like me.Actually I am not surprised to learn that you are a Jew it perfectely explains your anti Polish posts.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

The whole tax breaks and subsidy thing is just ridiculous.Couple of years ago Opel (GM) demanded subsidy from Polish taxpayers to keep Gliwice factory open.I read somewhere that they wanted 1 M PLN per 1 workplace. No żesz kurwa go mać.Am I supposed to pay them for a "privilege" of working?Get the **** out.Luckily ryży chuj Tusk didn't give them any money.

Actually Dell already sold the factory to Chinese Foxconn.I wouldn't blame Dell though because I am sure some Polish crook got a nice money under the table.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

Bollocks.I used to work at Jumbo supermarket in £ódź in 1999.And I think my net salary was like 850 PLN a month but I only worked there 1 month because after my first payday I went to the doctor who for 50 PLN gave me nice 30 days zwolnienie and for the next 6 months I was getting 80% of the pay whithout having to work.

Exactly my friend.None of them should get any tax breaks,it is not like they bring some new technologies or something.Poles are capable of building and running a grocery stores but how they could compete with established businesses which get tax breaks on top of that when Poles started with no capital base. ******* "polish" gov crooks, makes me so angry.

Also the big stores market in Poland seems to me to be already more saturated than the American one .Last time I've been there, wherever I looked there was a supermarket or a bank.

Think about the amount of people they will hire in Poland too.

Yeah, all these minimum wage jobs.Meanwhile all the profit is being transferred out of Poland. Not to mention that they don't pay any taxes in Poland. How the **** can Poles compete?******* "polish" government crooks opened the market for foraigners when we did not have enough capital to compete with them.Anyway, when in Poland I only buy at Polish stores and only Polish goods and everyone calling him/herself Polish should do the same.

News / Wal-Mart coming to Poland? [146]

I like shopping at Food Lion or Lowes Food

Food Lions are ok but Harris Teeter and Giant stores are MUCH nicer though a bit more expensive.

Poland will love Wal Mart, especially if they can get in on those super low prices. Wal Mart is great for a place that doesn't have a lot of extra cash.

I don't think so.What's special about Wal Mart?I haven't been at Wal Mart for like 2 years already and I don't miss it.Food selection is poor and the prices are not any lower than Food Lion.

USA, Canada / Where Polish in NJ live? [58]

What was the exchange rate before that?

The highest was 1USD-4.8 PLN.The exchange rate matters a lot because you pay for the program in PLN.One thing is that the wages and job market in Poland has indeed improved but another thing is that Polish student can work a summer job in any of 27 EU countries without having to spend any money on a program and like I already said it is not French fries money but thousends of USD.

Maybe our economy and job market was the problem that changed things.

Partially but mainly it was a cheap USD.I mean in august of 2008 the exchange rate was 1USD-2PLN so a smart student could make the same money in Poland (not to mention UK or IRL) without having to invest 3000USD.

Like i said they had a look on their faces like they knew what was up.

Ok but it doesn't mean they were Polish my friend.Every Polish student I knew here in OC when got in trouble was saying that he is Russian or Ukrainian.Anyway I would never go back to this pizza place, the owner must be a xenophobic piece of s h i t.

being charged more than what we should pay for whatever we ordered

Is it really?Never happend to me to be honest with you.I would rather bet that you misunderstood something. When I was driving a taxi I had plenty of Americans thinking that I am trying to overcharge them when I started adding surcharges at the end of run. Finally the town gave us stickers with all charges to place inside the cab and they could read what I am charging them for.

the summer job situation in Poland was much worse, as were wages, so it made coming here worth it.

Yes, the things has changed. It used to be worth but it's not anymore. There was also a problem with a job placements, meaning that not every of these students had a work place guaranteed and many couldn't find any job (especially when the season was bad or haven't started yet),if you look up the internet you will find these stories.

It's the same in western Europe too but you can't hold it against anyone, no one learns Polish at school other than in Poland.

I am not holding it against anybody,I am merely stating a fact.I can understand the average American has not enough contact with any of these nationalities to catch the difference in accents and look.

Maybe the Polish employment service shut down? I've seen a number of Scottish and Russians in CM too.

No,it is simply not worth it if you want to make some money. The cost of program is about $3k so you are starting -$3k,how long do think it takes to make it back when you are making $7-8/h?I agree there is still plenty of non EU students.

I gave the owner a look he goes" They're Polish" i said so what I Polish too, he explained the whole story of them stealing.

I only wonder how did he figure out they were Polish because from my experience (and I have a lot of it) 99.9% of Americans can not tell the difference between Polish and Czech,Ukrainian or Russian.

Really? Why not? I'll have to take a look around when I get back down there soon.

Not worth the hussle and it makes little or no sense financially.I am in Ocean City MD,Polish students used to coming here in large number few years ago along with Czechs,Slovaks,Hungarians and other students from former Soviet Union but it all stopped about 3 years ago.Now there are mainly Ukrainians,Belarussians,Russians and Turks but also some Irish (but they mainly party)coming here to work over the summer.I didn't meet any Polish student here over the last 2 years and in 2006 and 2007 I knew plenty.

Hey Admins/PF owners,I think the guest posting policy is not the best one. They (the guests) very rarely bring anything substantial into disscusion.

doesn't America have the reputation of the country with the most freedoms?

Propaganda.

The TSA is another thing, but heck, enough Americans lay into them.

What can you know about TSA if you have never been to the States?I flew on US -PL route at least dozen of times and my only bad experience was with rude Irish and Dutch immigration officers (the plane on AMS was waiting 20 minutes only for Grubas because I was filing a complaint).

Law / $1 = 3 zł? [4]

In the wosrt-case scenario (Greece goes bankrupt), how much do you think the dollar would fetch in Poland?

I will wait with my forecast until US Congress raise the debt "ceiling".

Cops just don't like to be video-taped.

They sure don't because it makes it harder to abuse or harras people but who cares wheter they do or don't like being video taped, they can change the job if they don't like it.I was in similar situation as the lady in the video,a state cop was threatening me with arrest but unfortunatelly for me she wasn't stupid enough to do so even though I disobeyed her orders.

History / What was it like in 1989+ in Poland when the Soviet house of cards fell? [237]

Poles were technically allowed to countries of Warsaw Pact.

Stop spreading lies you a$$hole. In PRL times my parents travelled not only to western and eastern european countries but also to exotics like Thailand,Columbia or Vietnam. In 1985 you could buy 2 weeks vacation in Vietnam for $180!And none of my parents was a prominent PZPR member nor had a family in the West,in fact my father was an ordinary PZPR member running private enterprise (soda manufacturing) and my mother was a teacher.Don't blame the system because you and your parents were losers. If they only had a hot dog kiosk at PKS bus station they would be able to afford exotic vacation too.
