News / Penderecki, Poland's greatest living composer, accused of being SB informer [62]

How _DARE_ they win free and fair elections

Soviet stooges who oppressed the Polish nation did not deserve to be on equal footing with decent anti-communist Poles. The KOR/PZPR clique not only made victimisers and victims equal (which in itself was a travesty of justice!) but adtually provided the vicitmisers with a head start and added benefits.

which has revealed almost not a single bit of useful information

Only because it was stopped. If a tough law had been enacted barring former communist officials form public office fotr, let's say, 10 years, there would never have been a Kwaśniewski-Miller circus. PZPR CC officials as PMs, ministers and presidents in a Free Poland -- preposterous!!!, And many of POO's leading lights would have been manning check-out counters, working at McDonald's or as car-park attdendants rather than worming their way into cushy decision-making posts. A truly gresat, patriotic and Catholic Poalnd by now would have been firmly established as Europe's 4th or (if Brexit were to occur) 3rd EU eocnomy. As it is, PiS have had to start the whole process from scratch, and those who should have ended up on the trash heap of history were able to undeservedly get a new lease of life and are now trying to undermine and sobotage the good-change proejct. So it'll take a bit longer, but sooner than many people imagine it will succeed.

that would have worked?

Why did it work in other countries? Czechoslovakia and the DDR were mega-police
states with far more informers and interal espionage and yet they somehow managed. You don't hear about the issue resurfacing there time and again. They did what they had to and were done with it!

that would have worked?

News / Penderecki, Poland's greatest living composer, accused of being SB informer [62]

sad sideshow

The sad sideshow was the 1992 parlimenatry coup led by Wałęsa whose aim was to prevent the opening of police files. Had they been opened as in other post-commie countries, there would have been a year or two of mayhem but it woudl have made it possible to sort out who as a paid informer had actually hurt others, who signed something but never snitched and who did neither but was framed. By trying to sweep it all under the carpet, the matter keeps resurfacing and poisoning hte poltical stage at every turn. Here it is a quarter of a century later and still it remains a public issue.

News / Penderecki, Poland's greatest living composer, accused of being SB informer [62]

Polish classical-music composer Krzysztof Penderecki has denied allegations that he was an informer for the communist-era authorities.
"I've never been a collaborator of the [communist] Security Services," Penderecki said in a statement sent to the PAP news agency on Friday. He added that he has "no knowledge" of the existence of secret files in his name pointing to his alleged work as an informant.

On Friday, the Niezależna website wrote that a recently discovered document signed by a high ranking intelligence officer during Poland's communist rule indicates that "Penderecki 'was used operationally' because of his frequent trips abroad".

Penderecki is one of Poland's famous musical composers. His work "St Luke Passion" will be performed on Saturday by the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Other people who have been accused of being collaborators include former president Lech Wałęsa.

News / Will Polish-Americans need visas to visit Poland and other EU countries? [21]

The European Parliament (EP) has passed a non-binding resolution calling for the reintroduction of visa requirements for American citizens visitng Poland and any of the other 26 EU countries. That move has raised the stakes in a long-running battle over the United States' refusal to grant visa-free access to citizens of Poland and four other EU nations. At present, US citizens may travel visa-free and spend up to 90 days in the EU. If they leave the EU briefly (from Polnd they could cross over into Russia, Belarus or Ukraine), they can presumably re-enter Poland without a visa and stay another three months. In the EP, European lawmakers played tit-for-tat in their dispute with the United States, demanding restrictions on American travelers unless the Trump administration lifts travel requirements for citizens of Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Poland and Romania.

This just in: The PiS Political Council has made PM Szydło duty-bound to decline official support for the Euro Council re-eelction of ********* Donny. Reasons incljude: he vioalted the principle of neutraility ny interfering in the itnenral affairs of a member state, conspired with one side of an internal political row, a ddestructive opposition bent on overthrowing the state. PO the only party that refuses to back its member for Euro Council chief

Everyone knows that the PO leads the way in scamsterism, as well as the number of SB sntiches and ex-PZPR members in their ranks, but it has now scored another first. It is probably the first EU party that refuses to back its own member for a senior EU post -- the chairmanship of the European Council. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski has been a PO member for years and has represented it as a MEP, but the PO's hare-brained leadership prefers to back an outsider who does not belong to the party. Apparently he was better at palm-greasing than Wolski.

News / Re-polonisation surges ahead - after babking, media and telecoms... [20]

PRL-era snitches

Have you ever wondered why many PF-ers, yourself included, have coinsistently favoured former PZPR members (Balcerowicz, Kuroń, Biedroń, Rzepliński, etc.), SB snitches (Wałęsa, Boni, Komorowksi, Tusk, etc.) and groupings with the highest quotient of ex-PZPR/SB informers (ROAD, UD, UW, PO).

News / Re-polonisation surges ahead - after babking, media and telecoms... [20]

Re-polonisaition, a cornerstone of Moraweicki's econ policy, has moved apaca and now the country's banking sector is dominated by Polish banks. Also targeted are the media extensively owned by Germans. (Globalism and slogans like "capital has no nationality" notwithstanding nearly all of Germany's media are German owned!) Telecoms is another field set for re-polonisation and others will surely follow. Other ministries are also thinking innovatively. Min. Gowin has annoucned thee new types of higher s chools -- teaching unviersities, teaching-research instituions and pureły research ones concentrating on high-tech innovation. Hardly a day goes by that the good-change government does not announce some new initiatives. Quite a departure from the status-quo loving PO regime out only to promote its members own selfish interests and those of their foreign-interest-group masters.

News / 2016, the year of change in Poland? [70]

as always fails to mention

One need not mention the obvious. Every movement, rebellion, organisation, formation or otherh collective will attract some people joining up for ulterior motives. During the 1970 riots on the coast, Gomułka was correct in saying hooligans were burning and looitng which they were. But like you, he wanted to create the false impressison that only hooligans were resposnible for the disturbances, when in fact most were ordinary workers protesting against food-price rises before Christmas. You have to try harder!

Poland honours freedom-fighters who refused to surrender to evil

Poland on Wednesday marked the National Day of the "Cursed Soldiers" to commemorate some members of Poland's anti-communist movements. Stamps were recently issued to mark the event.

After Poland's official underground army (AK) of World War II disbanded in 1945, thousands of Poles continued to fight in other formations against the imposition of communism as the Soviet Red Army extended its grip across the country.

On Wednesday events commemorating the soldiers were held around the country, with the participation of top officials including Polish president Andrzej Duda. PM Szydło and Defence Min. Macierewicz.

The still surviving freedom-fighters were full of praise and satisfaction that Poland at logn last has finally begin acknowledging their sacrifices and contributions. But the total(ly hare-brained) opposition prefers to nitpick, calling the dauntless freedom-fighters "bandits" and even "paeodphiles".

Political genius Kaczyński pushes opposition into own-goal zone

Poland's impotent, frustrated "total(ly hare-brained) opposition" haven't a clue what to do next since all their protests and ruses have come to naught. Some observers see political genius Kaczyński pulling the right strings behind the scenes and causing the opposition to make fools of themselves:

**To bloat the crowds at their street-pounding circuses the opposition have ended up attracting and marching arm in arm with PRL-era secret police agents.
**The clueless Kijowski actually praised the SB saying they have made the country safe for people.
**The oppositon have repeated SB demands that the IPN should be liquidated.
**With horns, whistles and chants they have disrupted patriotic anniversaries, historical commemorations and heroes' funerals, referred to doomed soldiers as "bandits" and otherwise tried to discredit Polish patriotism.

** They also want to liquidate the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA), showing themselves to be on the side of crooks, tax cheats and other scamsters.
** They oppose the school reform although none other than the ZNP (teachers' union) was fiercely opposed to the introduction of middle schools in the first place. That shows voters that the opposition is only about one thing: calling for the opposite of the PiS programme but having nothing meaningful of their own to offer.

**A feminist activist was asked what women would be fighting for on 8th March this year and replied: "Well, er, um, I mean, that is.." and finally blurted out "the ban on in vitro". The TV interviewer replied: "There is no ban on in vitro only that it isn't being bankrolled from my taxes."

**Most everyone who has dealt with Poland's cumbersome court system is well aware of the bureaucracy, prolonged delays and under-the-table gratuities. The opposition are banging on about independent judges while ordinary Poles wonder if that means independently corrupt, on the take or in the pocket of big local entrepreneurs.

**As such, the so-called total opposition have played right into the hands of Kaczyński who can only chuckle at their bumbling shenanigans, impotent fury and back-firing schemes.

News / Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland? [180]

The name of François Hollande has been circulating as a possible replacement for Tusk. The decision is supposedly to be taken at a meeting of exclusivist EU biggies. What will be better for Poland: a lefty frog and hopeless EU fédéraste or a shifty-eyed, Polish-speaking centrist known to hobnob with scamsters and badmouth his own country in public? That truly is a hard nut to crack.

News / Poland, still corrupt, but not as bad as Czech/Hungary & Italy [36]

Kazimierz Ziobro

But not long ago you were saying there's no collective guilt. Michnik should therefore be called a scumbag on the basis of his own anti-Polish activities not because old man Schechter was Stalin's stooge in Soviet-occupied Western Ukraine and his unwed mum was a Sovietiser trying to brainwash innocent Polish school children.

in the IPN, documents have been found

I thought you were opposed to "grzebanie sw życiorysach" (Michnik's term), rummaging about in people's biographies. And you probably agree with PO that IPN should be liquidated. So why are you invoking the findings of an institution whose credibilitiy you question?

We all know why. IT'S YET ANOTEHR CHANCE TO BASH PiS. That's the ultimate purpose of life, innit?!

I'm afraid of those criminal libel laws

Stating someone had once belonged to the PZPR if it is true is not grounds for a libel suit. And suggesting that some Polish poor-man's chat forum like PF is closely followed by all and sundry is laaughable. People who cannot back up their claims often try to pull such a fast one. Like the judge that squealed to Brussels that judges in Poland were having their tyres slashed and brake cables cut but was unwilling to name the repair garage that had fixed the damage.

There's Piotrowicz but somehow no-one can come up with the allegedłly "countless" (Delph's hyperbole) PZPR and SB types in PiS' ranks. Starting with Porozumienie Centrum on through PiS, those parties have had few if any ex-commies in their ranks.

Pharasaic FAZ hack trimmed down to size by Kaczyński

Like the Pharisees, who constantly tried to trip up Jesus with loaded, trick questions and always got put in their place. an interviewer for FAZ pharsaically tried to trap Kaczyński by asking how he can reocncile not helping refugees with Christian values. Poland's most astute and influential political figure replied without batting an eye-lash: "There are over a billion people on earth who could improve their lives by coming to Europe or America. But the influx a billion migrants would mean the liquidation of a civlisation based on Christianity, history's most people-friendly philosophy."

sweep away

Rzepa reports a campaign under way to to clean up the diplomatic corps of co mmie-era hangers-on. Everyone in the corps, incłluding ambassadors, consuls, attachés and other staff that had contacts with secret services prior to 1990 will lose their jobs. It's about time! Previous governemnts all upheld the unwritten and illegal rule that only the post-roundtabler clique of "Nocna zmiana" fame may rule the land and enjoy the fruits of the harvest.

corruption

Unless someone bribed an official to appoint him, that is not corruption. You and your ilk randomly toss words about if only to jab the people-friendly PiS party. Your cohorts were even hoping last summer's NATO summit would get called off all because of all the the anti-PiS badmouthing being spread abroad by the impotent but vocifeorus "total" oppositon. Anything to bash PiS, but absoltuely no programme, nothing to improve the nation's life or the country's image. And the idiots still can't see why PiS are getting 40% poll support. The only fitting summary is: the mangy curs will yap and howl but the caravan of good-change government moves on.
