UK, Ireland / Are Polish people moving back home from the UK? [68]

How many Polish are leaving the UK as of late? and why?

has poland improved somewhat with jobs enough to go back and support a family?

I looked for another thread with this topic and didn't find one so my apologies if this turns out to be a double thread..

ok on this post, I know alot of Polish stayed, but some have had to left, and went
home or maybe someone knew of friends who went home to stay and really miss them?

UK, Ireland / Polish immigration in UK [491]

so you see, people living under the poverty line is high in the UK, but of course that's their fault because they were destined to be lazy poor brits!

its the same in the states.. the bad thing about that is even immigrants come over
and want to work and those with education will definately get in to higher payed jobs

we have alot of lazy People to, by choice.. who just love to rely on the govt. which
really doesnt hand it out anymore on that silver platter. they created work programs
for the lazy.. :)

I really don't understand why the minimum wage is so low, as there are bigger corporates who are making good money who should be spreading a bit more of the wealth around

doesnt the govt set the minimum wage?

in my opinion an employer can pay more, but with the govt standards saying how much
is enough, do we think they will change this? no. its the same in the states. and people have to have two working adults to actually own a home and or pay rent

and the younger generations cannot afford to leave home until they are out of college
and even then its rough. but we also changed our way of living to.

Honey, there is no way that guy is going to give you a straight answer :(

you are probably right, he may not even come back at all.

what nationality are you ZEZE? just curious..

Low skilled doesn't mean an idiot,

no it doesnt, and of course there has to be a balance, people willing to do these jobs
although I think these jobs should have a higher pay, without these harder jobs
and harder workers theres no company..

Genealogy / The surname Celinski and resources for Galician roots [17]

[quote=BrettCelinski] Any resources to find out history of the name Celinski and what area that family originated?

brett

a good source to find is the WWI drafts on ancestry.com
or baptismal records ( depending on which city/church) would sometimes
if your lucky.. record the Place of parents birth ( actual place) and not state
just Poland or Poland/russia etc.

what records have you searched in the states so far?

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

"Believe me, they are all very 'free'. Just make sure that you are not used, that is all they do. They just use you." Words of advice indeed!

michal, you married a polish woman right? your wife is polish right?

do you think these are words of wisdom or words of just dum..

Genealogy / Are Polish birth records available on the Internet? [56]

birth is not avail in the united states unless the person is deceased after so many years
and you have to show proof of death of this person meaning you are next of kin.

birth should stay private as long as the person is alive.

USA, Canada / What do Polish people think of the USA [287]

Anyone can claim anything they want on the internet, and that's fine. But I'll stick to verified sources, which tend to disagree. Thanks just the same, though.

USA, Canada / American people attitude towards Poles in the USA [98]

How were Polish people seen

With two eyes.. hardy har har.. :)

How were Polish people seen in America before the end of Communism?
Did things change much?

in the 60's the focus was more on civil rights, I dont think anyone really was concerned
with new Immigrants coming. in the 70's dancing was a big deal.. so nationality
was not important. and in the 80's People were all about music and big hair
and peace :)

Peter, these are so cool!!

My father's Romanian identity card. He was enrolled in the University of Lwow in 1939 and was fortunate to escape through Romania.

you are lucky to have these. on my grandmothers side, something must
have happened to the documents.. I had to do research to find any little
bit of her past and how she came here.. America that is..

Thanks for sharing.. Now I dont feel so lonely :)))

well try this again.. MY grandmother and her sister playing the bride and groom
gag for a cousins wedding.. they come dressed as bride and groom. and she would

I will tell you the key towns dont yell at me if i spell them wrong..

Nowogrod , Kolno, Poryte ?

all same general area.. so for anyone doing genealogy, the immigrants who came
to the united states generally stayed close to friends and relatives.. for years!!!

Thank you for sharing such wonderful photos Patrycja.

I am glad you like them.. everyone is welcome to join,, military, old pics.. anything :)

even if you found a old photo and wanted to share it just because :))

I think we should share and remember those before us after all its those before us
who got us here and we are here today because of them.. strength and preservance
