History / Life in communism vs democracy in Poland [234]

there was no communism in poland. it was russian nationalism that used socialism.

This is why Russian nationalists were wiped out in the SU? The most famous Russian nationalist was Alexander Solzhenitsyn who wrote long books about communist crimes. Instead to blame Russian people (what is extremely boring btw), you should finally admit that socialism lead to oppressive dictatorship.

democracy is about how you want to live

and also how you want to force other to live. Keep this in mind because this is actually the most important part of democracy.

History / Life in communism vs democracy in Poland [234]

capitalist mentality is based on selfishness

Selfishness is a virtue, to a certain degree of course. This is one of the things that push this world forward. If most of people would be idealistic altruists by all means then we would still live in caves. There is unhealthy selfishness behind socialism as well. Why unhealthy? Because socialist demand property of other people and such attitude is considered negatively all over the world. Use your talents to earn money rather than become a social parasite.

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

This is because neither of two think how to run his own life only. They are very interested how to organize life of the second as well. Democracy leads to socialism and socialism lead to oppressive dictatorship.

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

The man on the street may not be responsible for the situation of the world but he is responsible for his own behaviour.

This is of course true.

In a democracy he's also responsible for choosing the "guy in the corner".

Here is a trap. You could also write that we could democratically decide how to dismantle biological bomb. People are no more competent to choose this "guy in the corner". Let face it, most of them have no clue. It is just media controlled by those "guys in the corner" tell them that they are competent enough and provide a list of electable "guys in the corner". Basically this is controlled oligarchy, people are just provided nice illusion that they are the most important deciders. Of course there is no such thing like "collective responsibility", from the start we know that nobody will be punished.

News / The "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign theft from Oswiecim, Poland [240]

My God the polish are lenient, they would have got at least 80 hours community service or a 6 month suspended sentence in the UK!!!

I think that they should be fined financially (if this is first time), ten years prison sound ridiculous. I bet that penalty for rape is way less severe. Silly states, silly laws.

Harry:
In the real world telling somebody to do something if they want to stay alive is illegal and a criminal has no claim to any benefits resulting from their crime.

Harry, you (purposefully?) forgetting that was during the war. Nothing was normal or legal. Don't try to be cute and compare war circumstances with peaceful times.

Harry have a point here. Every legal system have also special laws if war happen. The rest is unchanged. I strongly doubt whether there was such legislation in II RP or III Reich.

Nuremberg Tribunal was idiotic because instead to handle Germany to proper hands, international community decided to create shady political court. National Socialist war criminals should be sentenced according to laws of Third Reich. They would all get death penalty without any doubts. Same about Soviet butchers, anybody who bothered to read Soviet Constitution know how illegal was their rule.

Look, the portraits were to be used as evidence in support for nazi theories about the genetic inferiority of Roma. To the extent that she did what Mengele wanted, she was in fact complicit in persecution of the Roma (yes she was also a victim herself, but that doesn't mean she wasn't complicit in victimising others, even if she was only doing so to survive).

This is good point. But on other hand what is the right of museum to these pictures? Personally I think that all such camps should be razed to the ground right after all investigations were over. This is just a reason to stir ethnic conflicts. Every little disagreement over anything is taken out of proportion by media which search for sensation. Beside of that, less evil people see, less evil they may become. One could say a lot about negative influence of TV or computer games. This event push border of "absolute evil" too far for an average people.

History / What British unit liberated Poland in 1945?? [445]

Jonni and enkidu differently define "Polish president". According to Jonni "Polish president" is an official leader of the state which consist word "Poland" in its name. According to enkidu "Polish president" is an official leader of of the state supported by majority of people living in what they consider "Polish state". Thus you both cannot agree until you accept the same definition.

The case itself is simple. British government was allied with Polish government on exile as long as they considered them to be a force helpful to realize their goals. After the war Polish government on exile lost this status in the eyes of British establishment and new communist government in Poland gained it. British government betrayed Polish government on exile, cynicism (money) are always dominant attitude (reason) in what we call politics. If there was any political idealism present among establishment in the past, it is long gone. IIIRP appeared on the maps not so long ago but already managed to do something similar to Serbia.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

This is the thing - they should simply legislate to get rid of them

Politicians should legislate to get rid of themselves.

Or of course, they could simply make the maximum prize no more than 25zl

Such move would only create black market. People are to large extend able to omit unreasonable bureaucratic regulations. During communist period many things were easy to obtain but only on the black market. Regulation of prices never work.

While stupid people do many stupid things and we should let them to learn from their own mistakes instead to enslave whole population by giving them treatment suitable only for mentally retarded.

News / New Polish gambling law - outlawing gambling except in casinos [34]

Personally I don't find gambling to be entertainment. However I hate to see how government tell people how to spend their money. In all this story I see willingness of ruling party to cover corruption in their ranks. I see also laziness of people unwilling to take care about their children and wishing to pass this task to state. While politicians are always willing to take away people's freedoms, especially if the latter group don't really understand what is going on. Wake up people, when laziness of people meet with interventionist policy of political establishment, expect fascism/socialism to arise. Old Polish saying state, that you should never enter the same river twice

News / Crucifixes to stay in Polish schools [364]

All right let there be an extra crucifix in history classroom beside the religion one. Next to it lets hang pictures of dead taborites and other "pagans" and pictures of Perun and Swiętowit. Let's even out the overview to symbolic pros and cons.

I think that people in Poland and not only will stick exclusively to Christian crucifixes. But thanks for advise.

Of course this is not a proper crucifix for school.

I'm sure that political establishment would accept something like above as an exception. Picture of Mohamed with a bomb on his head would be of course unacceptable.

One can't indeed be atheist in one place and christian/jewish/muslim/hindu/scientologist/buddhist in another. One can however respect the principle that religion is a private matter, and the workplace is not a place for it.

One cannot stick to Christian concept of morality at home, only to switch to something else at work. This is just propaganda of atheist left that something like this is possible.

The EU as an entity is neither christian or any other religion. It is secular. Its citizens are free to believe in something or not. The EU does not interfere withthat.

Secular, it means that only atheists or Christians by the name only are allowed to hold important posts in this clearly anti-Christian institution. When I write anti-Christian I mean policies run by the EU which very often contradict Christian teachings. This is just another reason why the EU cease to exist.

Because people can learn the messages for themselves, lesser, and not contribute to a profit-making organisation.

People can learn from authority and they are not authority for themselves. You are a teacher yourself, you should know better. If a child would not consider you as an authority in some certain area of knowledge then wont bother by your lessons. Why don't you advocate children and adults to learn everything from themselves. Generational progress is highly unlikely with such logic applied.

Beside of that, perhaps atheist left would organize some help for Africa to replace Catholic missionaries? Oh I forgot they already send millions of condoms, how generous! :) Perhaps atheist left would organize colonies for poor children, run orphanages, organize football leagues for children? Oh I forgot, currently they plan to settle "condom machine" in each every school, how generous! :) Perhaps atheist left would offer as much attraction to elderly people as the Catholic Church does? Oh I forgot, they offer them euthanasia free of charge (translation - paid by taxpayers) and those who they consider the greatest would be put into a giant condom like Lenin 85 years ago! :) If only atheist left would remove condoms out of their heads then they would perceive reality how it is. Refraction effect is very misleading, this is scientifically proved :)

I wish I could find the statistic

You could write such a poem but this is not proper thread.

I wish I knew what you were thinking
I wish I could read your mind
I wish that we were together now
I wish I could call you mine

I know a few satanists

I must be very lucky man, somehow I managed to live without knowing even a single one. Here I must admit, I stick mosty with normal people...

I have. Please elaborate with a provision. There are plenty to show that an intermediary was not intended by Christ at all.

This must be just your interpretation. Show me the quote when Jesus saying that there should not be any priests? Jesus said to his apostles, go teach all nations. In the meantime clergy was created, people who cared the most. This is old and successful tradition and I'm curious why do you seems to be so negative about it? If priesthood is the best option to spread Christian message, I'm all for it. Why to oppose?

Grace is, by definition and nature, unmerited. You believe in congruous merit, I'm sure.

This is not so obvious. You must at least be sorry of your wrongdoings and promise to improve to be offered God's grace. This is small but still a merit. What do you think that Christian concept of hell is example of God's grace? :)

esser, why is contrition, confession and satisfaction needed when Christ has already cleansed you by grace? (Romans 4 through 8) Expiation is unclear as you forever strive for justification under Trent whereas Protestants see it as one event through imputation and not a transforming event through infusion

Here you find answers to your questions:

Lesser, where does it say in the Bible that there should be a conduit in the form of a priest?

I'm sure that you have heard about apostles

Also, please explain God's grace to me (łaska Boga). Is it, by nature, merited or unmerited?

I'm not sure whether I understand your question correctly. It is merited, if you don't deserve you wont be offered mercy in afterlife (hell).

Forgive me I'm too busy recently, I have no time to watch films on You Tube.

Lesser, what value do you attach to the Council of Trent?

Please specify your question, I'm waiting for comeback of traditional Latin mass to my church.

News / Crucifixes to stay in Polish schools [364]

Catholic Church did a great job in Ireland and some incidental examples of immoral behaviour of individual members wont affect overall pictures. The point is that people openly hostile to the CC will always underline every misbehaviour of each every priest and never mention good job of the rest of clergy. Who grew up in Catholic country knows very well activity of the CC and wont be fooled by claims of outsiders like yourself.

That's the problem with your thinking. There is absolutely no reason why Poland should have this moral superiority complex as they are one of the receivers of EU money...

I was talking about personal inferiority complex that you seems to have. I'm not a collectivist socialist and I don't believe that nations or states might have inferiority of superiority complex. This is personal question.

I know that you will underline "your" Dutch supposed help to "mine" Poland. This is all so fake. Firstly we don't know whether you would personally give us anything if this would depend from your own will. Secondary, I never asked for any help. What is more I oppose the EU claims to Poland.

Indeed, a protest against the corrupt Catholic church :)

If this would be true, then there would be only one Protestant sect.

News / Crucifixes to stay in Polish schools [364]

Perhaps, lesser, perhaps. Why would you say that, though?

Catholics recognize authority of Vatican based (or recognized by Vatican) theologians. They consider them competent to interpret Bible, teaching of Christ. Protestants on other hand, may absorb such interpretations from anybody and often make such interpretations themselves. Protestantism have difficulty to keep constant line, unlike the CC. People are targeted by more and more modern theories, they are divided on more and more sects. This explain why there is so many Protestant sects, because essence of Protestantism is an endless protest. At the end of the road, there is atheism. One could say, the last protest. Take a look at gaa posting. She seems to be ashamed of religion and this ios first step towards atheism. She might even follow her personal beliefs in this form how she confessed here. However there is high possibility that she wont pass even this to her children and they will become atheists at least until late middle age.

you ask me why i'm catholic and it's like why are you an atheist.you can easily google what catholics believe in:) you either believe or not.

Yes but according to your previous replies, this logic don't apply to your way of being. Thus, Seanus has the right to be confused.

And I'm still waiting for the first scandals of priests abusing kids within the Catholic church.

Open minded person would not wish such situations to happen. You are simply blinded by hate if you wish to see abused children just to proof your silly thesis.

And the Vatican? Who is taking the Vatican still serious nowadays?

You meet here many people absolutely friendly to Vatican. Do you see only things that you like to see?

public schools are public schools and Kaczinski should back down a little, before he makes himself even more impopular in Europe

If you have inferiority complex towards "Europe", it doesn't means that everybody else have the same problem.

I think its also justified that we remove Crucifixes from our schools IMMEDIATELY.

Crucifixes should be replacedby the flag of the EU or pictures of the new EU president (atheist of course). New religion must be! Reformed Atheist Church of the EU.

It muslim french students cannot wear a skarf over their heads....

This is how French socialists (whole political establishment) do, first they let civilizationally alien population and later they try to force them to assimilate. In the same time, native Christian population is forbidden to wear crucifixes. They simply taking away personal liberties, trying to solve old mistakes and in the same time they won t admit any past wrongdoings.

it is sad for such a country that put one steap ahead (by socialism experience though not perfect) now taking two step backward (by sticking to old things to unite around.) one would be expecting more from such a country instead of taking steps backwards.

Actually, socialism this is perversity of XX century. Move on!

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

So within eastern Europe people would be able to freely move around?

Within all Europe and other civilizationally western states.

Obviously you are anti E.U. but do you think it is a bad idea if E.U. member states move around?

I support free movement of people within the area mentioned above and free trade worldwide. It doesn't mean that such traveller would automatically obtain citizenship of destination state.

The world is smaller now, with more people and becoming more and more homogeneous in language, culture and if you care genes.

Language and genes doesn't count, everything is about culture. If the world would become civilizationally homogeneous indeed then this would be reasonable to move forward with my proposals. However this is not the case and realistically it wont be the case for many centuries.

All entities require managers, I think you said that you were a monarchist, surely they also need managers all be it with funny names. I cant see them being any better than Republican managers. If all managers can be corrupted your vision fails.

I would be naive if I would idealize monarchy. I might consider it to be superior to democracy but never free of pathologies. After all this is also human invention and human imperfection is well known.

I would say that monarchist managers are better than republican managers and both groups are far better than democratic managers. Monarchs usually offered high offices to very rich people, so rich that they did not need to bother about their future. Their position was unquestioned, they could concentrate on their duties. This is exactly proposal of Aristotle, nothing new. If they would fall into corruption their life could be threatened.

What about democracy? Democratic minister is very often relatively poor. They need to care about their pockets, think about it like all of us. This is why they are potentially far more keen to take bribes. As we all realize, currently death penalty is against so called secular religion of "human rights"and other penalties would not be severe as well. What they call prison today would be considered a luxury hotel not so long time ago.

So you think we should close the boarders?
What about close the towns and cities, after all that is what you are suggesting, same as family and nation.

In my previous post I expressed willingness to accept immigration from culturally related states of Eastern Europe. Of course this would be profitable from European perspective to attract the brightest resources from other continents but I don't think that their homelands would be affected positively by such outcome.

3) I think, 'Complete boarder opening' does not seem realistic because it would take all (or most) countries to do it at the same time to even begin to work.

People would come mostly to countries widely considered the most attractive. Native populations would be outnumbered.

Edit* Basically, travel and work in practically any country?

You could ask "why should I be born in to such a privilege in rich family. " In the end this is what you mean. Differences exist in a local, state or continental scale. It will be always like that. If you wish to help people in third world then support free trade. It will help them to build decent states at home.

There is a one way open boarder policy i.e. I can go pretty much anywhere in the world and get a job there but not visa versa.
So perhaps you would like to rephrase your question.

Yes but we discuss about immigration and not emigration. Do you as a citizen of Ireland (as I believe) would open Irish borders to immigrants from all over the world?

I disagree with your analysis, you assume that big corporations are inflexible. You have built a floating ad hoc clause into your argument. I.e. there is a natural size to which any organisation can grow unless sustained by outside factors. I simply don’t believe this.

Similar relation can be observed in political bodies/institutions. Sir Cyril Parkinson wrote series of satires where he provided couple of examples from the UK.

With good management any entity can be dynamic enough to dominate and I believe we have seen this throughout history.

To find one good manager and convince him to be loyal is a success. Big corporations employ plenty of managers. This is impossible to control all those people who mostly care about their particular interest. Even the best manager wont be equally committed as owner himself. Milton Friedman wrote that there are four ways to spend money.

1. You spend your own money on yourself (Owner)
2. You spend your own money on someone else (Owner)
3. You spend someone else's money on yourself (Manager)
4. You spend someone else's money on someone else (Manager)

You can guess who is more careful and less spendthrift...

Re-multiculturalism

There was a thing Bonnie Greer said on the TV (related to the other thread) the other night, once heard it seems obvious. She correctly said that The Roman Empire was multicultural. It was quite successful.

To be clear, multiculturalism and multi-civilizationism are two different things. One civilization might consist from many cultures. This is quite easy to assimilate in culturally related country because common foundations exist.

Roman Empire is part of European heritage. Romans did conquer by force and often enforce their values on occupied cultures (Bratwurst Boy complain to this day! :). Anyway, Roman citizens did not live in multi-civilizational kettle. They were spread all over the empire.

The problem I have with economic liberalism is that it leads to monopolies reducing choice

Monopoly can exist only when there is state protection. Otherwise inflexible big corporation is unable to dominate the market. When a company grow, it reach boundary when an owner is unable to control everything. He need to employ managers whom are not so committed and their loyalty is doubtful. Such company is more and more ineffective and smaller competition may successfully undermine position of leader. This is natural process and only state interference may lead to creation of monopoly. Let all these communist states serve as example. In today's socialist Europe with deal with cartels, where some big players in agreement with each other are privileged over the rest. This is middle way and this is still a pathology.

I have travelled and worked in many different countries and I think it is a joke that I can go pretty much wherever I like but that the people in those countries can not, just as easily, go to the place I am from.

Do you support open borders policy?

Many Poles say that they are firmly against immigration in general. That's hardly a fair position, considering the 1.5 million or so that went to the UK and illegally to America.

Don't put everybody to one kettle. I oppose immigration from civilizationally alien areas. I'm all for movement from Eastern Europe. Why we always need to argue about Africans or Asians and tehir supposed rights to come here? In the same time right behind eastern border of Europe Belarusians, Ukrainians or Russians are almost banned. Apparently knights of PC consider those people to be too closely related to us to be allowed to live in their utopian multi-civilizational society. I ask why those people are axed?

One again the EU play a negative role here. This is because their policy movement on our eastern border reduced dramatically. Suddenly our partners were told to pay for some expensive visas if they wish to continue to travel or run a business in Poland and other new member states. Of course this backfired at Polish citizens who traded with them as well.

Tick,Tick,Tick.....................

I'm sure that as a true man he need a time to acknowledge all facts and then he will admit myself to be right.

And you are still living in the 1940s. The roles of the left and right have changed dramitically since then.

If you take EU parliament as an example, you should notice that nearly all MEPs hold very similar views. There is hardly any left or right. If supposed left, supposed right and supposed liberals jointly support project of European Constitution and refuse to debate with anybody who would be against, then I ask how this is possible?? Theoretically they should argue about shape of this document, I did not witness anything like that. All those people support socialist superstate because this is profitable for their personal interest. They are opportunists.

There are some small fractions with right or left learnings, to mention Scandinavian Greens or UKIP. The rest of company try to marginalize such forces. They control mayor media outlets, using state issued concessions for example.

I will deal with the rest during the week.

I hope that you will do it without looking like big business's lapdog or apologist for political establishment. Difficult task... :)

Because I believe Poland's future is in Europe, with the population you have you have a big say. The Lisbon treaty is bad for smaller nations cos it concentrates power in fewer hands.

Poland is and remain part of Europe, this is quite obvious. I simply refuse to accept the EU as a synonym of Europe. This is great usurpation of Brussels bureaucracy. While Poland's voting force will be weakened if president Klaus sign this treaty. I would not mind if this would bring positive consequences, however this will bring only more socialism, more central planning and more anti-conservative philosophy.

Non-Protectionisn is a big sell good luck, people wont swallow it (quoting you) "Perhaps I'm a bit cynical but at least more realistic"

I never claimed that I believe that people will bring economic liberals to power. This is practically impossible. I share Aristotelian approach to democracy, I would be glad if this system would be replaced by more liberal monarchy. Unfortunately this would be like win in a lottery, in vast majority of cases democracy would be replaced by socialist dictatorship. Thus one must be cautious before advocating support for different kind of undemocratic forces. I consider myself to be political realist.

While I think that businessman should predict situation of the market if he wish to see big profits. Nobody force anybody to run any business, you can work in somebody else company. If you want bigger cash then take the risk, show some talent. This fair deal.

We discuss about immigration policy from Africa in particular. We hear so often how western world is willing to help Africa. This is all great scam where only western bureaucrats and African caciques profit. Instead to treat Africans like human trash and send them millions of condoms (to satisfy western 'condom business' and corrupt politicians) we could start to trade with them. This is the only way how the west could be really helpful to African people, everything else is hypocrisy.

Edit: Do you mean racism between locals and migrants?

Yes, this is stupid but natural that many people in Black district of the US will hate whites rather than Chinese.

I do.

Your faith in open-mindedness of humankind is amazing. Perhaps I'm a bit cynical but at least more realistic.

You have an opinion not authority

One doesn't exclude another. Beside of that, this is just your opinion! :)

It’s all relative if you take an absolutist view you end up with two sets of people shouting "Heathen" at each other. I am however glad to see you having a Eurocentric viewpoint.

It is not relative, I claim that my (call it 'Eurocentric') viewpoint is the the most perfect one. I won't change my mind until somebody provide convincing argumentation.

By the way, why are you glad because of my Eurocentric viewpoint?

Can anyone tell me the benefits of multiculturalism? Dont say foreign restaurants, as you only need a miniscule number of immigrants to staff them. A small minority of bleeding heart liberal eurocrats seem hell bent on ensuring we have complete societial change based on mass immigration from Eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa. This is backed by governments and business leaders as they want to have a continual increase in population to support the insane, laissez faire, open economic systems where we need to expand to stay still.

The left want it for the feel good factor. The right, for profits. Both shafting the working class.

You just repeat popular false stereotypes. Neither the left is idealist or the right is all about money. This is just old leftist propaganda, however sound funny from somebody who declare opposition to this political agenda. Politicians and business that cooperate with them are bunch of hypocrites, they are neither leftist or rightist but totally opportunists.

Old style conspiracy theory about powerful free market forces is completely false. Supporters of free market consist tiny minority without any great financial backs.

Political establishment prefer socialism because this is extremely corrupt system when decisions are made by thousands of bureaucrats. The EU is so greatly over-regulated that this would be comical (allowed angle of bananas, etc) if we all would not be targeted by this policy.

This is much easier for great corporation to corrupt few relatively poor bureaucrats than compete on free market. State protection allow big corporations to be privileged over the rest. I bet that you have heard many times how governments saved/ regularly subsided/offered exemption from tax to big corporations. I also bet that you have never heard about such policy towards their smaller competition on a market. Socialism this is a system of big corporations. Free market this is a never ending battle where smaller fishes have many advantages over centrally managed corporations.

Democratic politicians on other hand are mostly cunning people of low morals. Without being in politics where they parasite on taxpayer's pockets they would archive nothing worth noticing. For this group contact with big corporations is priceless, this is the only chance to get some relatively big (on their standards) cash.

Those two groups need each other and together they need socialist state to realize their goals. On the free market big corporations must compete and politicians/bureaucrats cannot regulate market rules and earn cash out of it.

Please open your eyes!

As far as immigration from non western states is concentrated, European states should prevent those people from coming and trade with them without any protectionism. European consumers deserve more competition on the market.

Because you type it doesnt make it logical.

You cannot deny, so at least feel necessary to question my authority.

What happens when the crazy ethnics consider their civilization "higher"?

What is crazy about ethic that allow you to be open minded? Common sense allow people to make distinctions, those smarter even have ability to do it right, without being emotionally involved. What would be really dumb? To claim that all civilizations are equal. (in sense of summary of all kind of development) Neither wise, it would be to state that once the highest civilization must remain the highest forever.
