Work / Salary for Engineer with 3 years Experience in Poland. 7500 PLN gross good enough? [11]

For Poland, I would consider probably 7500 PLN gross?

I can say from my experience, after 3 years in software development I had a 5k gross salary. Then after 2 years I started working for a polish-danish start-up for 8k gross, and then, after another year, I got my salary increased to 10k gross a month. Multinational companies are definitely the way to go if you want higher remuneration.

Allow me to remind you of your thread title.

Just visited Poland - here is my random rant

Allow me to point out that it's not my thread. Are you seeing things?

Travel / Just visited Poland - here is my random rant [154]

JKB quotes random rant which is the purpose of this thread. JKB does not quote changes in Poland during 199X and 20XX. As a Pole he comprehends the ownership debacle of pre-war real estate

Excuse me?

Life / Poland's Environment, recycling [79]

The new garbage collection disposition is just that... garbage. And many places are not even ready to have this implemented yet, but they will start charging the higher fees. Someone is getting paid.

Not everywhere. But there is a lot of places where the speed limit is arbitrary. And that is also where the police are usually located. And the speed detectors. Nice system set up in place to milk the drivers.

Travel / Just visited Poland - here is my random rant [154]

Considering how the Poles are lousy drivers, I'm afraid radars are highly needed. Overspeeding is so common here.

What needs to be done in the first place is the speed limits need to be upped.

Travel / Just visited Poland - here is my random rant [154]

Why do you share your "rant" on an English speaking forum if you're Polish?

Isn't this Polish Forums, where we discuss all things Poland? What is your problem? - From admin - troll comment removed.

JKSA, it's a very nice post. I'll add some comments to your rant:

1. There appears to be shortage of people in Poland.

A lot of 20-40's left Poland since 2004. But saying we are less crowded is an understatement. I just recently left Poland and as I remember Warsaw was still pretty crowded.

4. The roads in Poland have significantly improved.

That's true. Polish road infrastructure is thriving and we have some really good quality roads happening recently. Personally I loved the convenience of being able to drive from Warsaw to Berlin in just over 4 hours.

5. Anti-radars on the roads... pathetic disaster.

Yes, it's ridiculous. But that's the strategy our government implemented. In order to squeeze more money from drivers, let's create unsubstantiated speed limits and set up strict enforcement measures.

7. I have to pay for a plastic bag in a store!?

That's in order to be "more eco-friendly". In reality - just another way to take more of your money.

8. I was on an airport in Warsaw waiting for a plane.

This is not uncommon and applies to many airports, actually. If you are making a purchase in the secure / duty free zone, in order to be able to purchase items duty free, you need to show your ticket (and have it scanned at times) as proof that you're leaving Poland.

9. Prices of food are still reasonable (considering the food in Poland is still of good quality).

The best rule: shop around.

10. The quality of hardware stuff (like furniture) is not good.

Interesting. I did not notice that at all. Where did you encounter poor quality furniture and such small sinks?

11. In Poland you have to pay for everything extra.

Well, why would you expect free handouts? You get what you paid for.

12. The famous Polish beaurocracy.. still thrives.

The reason for that is the Polish driver's license, for some reason, is not considered to be an ID. Just a credential permitting you to use motorized vehicles on public roads. I like the way it's set up in the U.S. where your DL is also your primary ID for everyday use. That being said, I did manage to board a plane using just my Polish DL, but I had to seek special permission from the airport personnel. And that was an in-country flight too.

14. Parking meters.. are being installed everywhere in the cities.

Metered parking is a common thing in many countries in the world.

It's a lottery to bet on good weather if you plan to visit Poland.

Blame global warming and climate change, not Poland ;)

19. There are a lot of properties listed for sale in Poland.

That is not a problem restricted to Poland.

20. There are a lot of factories in Poland. Ugly ones.

The factories have to be built somewhere. The factories, in general, are not very pretty and don't look like candy shops you can find in a cartoon.

21. Contrary to general belief, Polish people are easy to manipulate by the government mass media.

You can't expect objectivity when you're speaking news. When it comes to media, they will always be biased, as there are always people behind the media, who own/control them. And people are biased. Show me a TV station or a newspaper anywhere in the world that has no political inclinations.

USA, Canada / Driving in USA, Las Vegas. [12]

You can. Make sure you have your polish driver's license, valid passport and unexpired I-94 on you while driving. It would be nice if you had the official translation of your driver's license, but it's not that neccessary.

News / Poles back Gronkiewicz ouster referendum [26]

you seems to be despising everyone - happens

Nope

People in Warsaw elected her, they need to suffer now to truly understand their mistake.

Just like we suffered through Kłamczyński

News / Poles back Gronkiewicz ouster referendum [26]

Many Poles eagerly affixed their signatures on Sunday to a petition calling for a referendum to oust Warsaw Mayor Gronkowicz-Waltz.

Just to correct this, only residents of Warsaw would be able to vote on that, not all Poles.

Rather with a fact that lady in qestion has been know for her intellectual capacity of a door.

As much as I despise of HGW, Gronkowiec is still way better than Kłamczyński and his pisuar.

That's a case of self-defense. The actions of the Holy Inquisition remind more of a situation where a group of soccer fans, called "patriots" by some nut-jobs, asks a random person on the street about their soccer preferences. In case of receiving an unsatisfactory answer, the person in question is being beaten up repeatedly, sometimes to death.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Kaczynski - what other politician has qualification to be one? Are even there special qualification to be one

Just like there are no formal qualifications and requirements to become a journalist.

Try to stay on a level.

You're the last person who should ask that from others.

As for her father

As for his father

Does it really matter who Olejnik's or Klamczynski's fathers were?

Oh please. We all know that TVP has been heavily political for years, or have you forgotten already about how it was being used as a mouthpiece for the Government in 2007?

First and foremost, public TV should be defunded.

satanism which should be prosecuted by the state.

No religion or anti-religion should be ever prosecuted by the state.

Who are you to decide what's good for people?

Provide quote of mine staying that other than in this case or admit that you are lying.

There you go:

Congratulation but you evolved did you? You become a new breed, a modern Pole a better model - right?

Evolved? A new breed? Damn, get it together.

Whats that?

Born to Polish parents.

No, they are not, they just hear a lot of crap about that. What is your point? You don't know that firms working on Polish highways have been screwed by middlemen, hand picked by the government and paid by the government?

I'm just saying it's knowledge. Exactly the same argument you are using to support any statements.

If somebody wants to know knows.

The church is full of pedophiles. It's public knowledge. If somebody wants to know knows.

So you are a new Pole? A modern model right? Just like those new Soviet made models? Good luck with that.

A new Pole? A natural born one that's for sure. Not sure what do Soviets have to do with it.

Anybody can think up a 'religon' on his computer and start solicitng funds. Is that a legitmate religon or a scam?

What is a legitimate religion? How can you tell people what they can or cannot believe? Holy inquisition at its finest.

Legitimate means a socially accepted body of believers that is officially recognised and legally registered in a given country.

State should have nothing to do with registering religions, because that's not its role. State should not tell people what they are or are not allowed to believe in and legitimize one religion but reject another.

Since our focus is Poland, how many believers are non-Christian? Satanism in Poland is not one of the registered denominations nor is Scientology.

Which is wrong, because state should not be poking its nose into religion whatsoever.

Moral dissolution has posed a threat, often an irreversible one, to many a system or empire

One doesn't need to be a catholic to have morals.

PO voters should pay higher VAT and interests from huge debts the clowns made. You brought this cancer on all of us.

You clearly show a lack of understanding of the democratic process.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Admittedly Palikot could be a stumblign block but he has already been knocked out a few times, we can therefore only hope he won't make it but SP will

Yes, indeed, you can only hope. Polls have proven to be worthless and underestimate Palikot by a few %.

PSL will hook up with PiS to stay in power. They'd join any coalition that would give them some cabinet posts.

That's a bold statement. Last time anyone hooked up with PiS, experienced a political death. I mean, I'm personally happy that Samoobrona and LPR are gone, they were terrible parties, but it serves as a big fat warning sign to prospective future members of that coalition.

Their plus side is that they reject a socially radical libertine agenda.

That's not really a plus side.

Or conversely, PiS could get the decent and sensible PO wing (Gowin et al) to break away in order to form a government.

It's funny, yet alarming to see the words decent, sensible and Gowin in one sentence.

Unless, that is, PiS won outright and could go it alone (Kaczyński's delcared goal).

Kłamczyński declared goal to rule alone is just a goal. Probably never to be achieved.

Politics is not about bearing grudges if they don't pay off. It's about eating humble pie when required to get into or stay in power.

Which PiS seems to be forgetting.

News / Palikot - too liberal/modern for Poland? [197]

Tax systems are not unrelated to disposable income and they should be based on an ability to pay.

Then I just gave you an example tax construction according to the exact description you're providing. From that there's only one tiny step to the government taking all your pay and leaving you with nothing.

When they are not based on ability to pay they are regressive as there is no disposable income.

No. The regressive tax rate means that the tax rate decreases with income. Not with the ability to pay. You're making up your own definitions.

I have not changed the definition of anything

You just did.

A living wage for all is slightly more important than a tax cut for the rich, does Palikot have anything to say about that?

Cutting down taxes for everyone is just that. Low and middle class are the ones who are summarily carrying the biggest tax burden.

You accused me of changing the value on the axis when I had

Yes you have. Head tax produces a flat line only if you plot income against amount of tax owed. Flat tax produces a flat line only if you plot income against tax rate. Otherwise there won't be any flat line.

It's not an arbitrary plot, a percentage or a fixed amount against income is a flat line the amount of income generated is a different story.

It's arbitrary because you're not using the same axis for both taxes. Use the same criteria to compare and then look what you get.
