News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

So what happens when the sex offender is a woman ?

Good question.

What are the stats in Poland regarding male and female sex offenders? Anyone know?

A neutered guy will still breed, but won't get her pregnant.

Possibly. The idea is their sex drive would be lowered though.

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

It's a bit like bolting the door after the horse has fled. However, it could stop repeat offenders.

The whole chemical castration is nonsense... and has nothing to do with real castration...

You don't think it will help at all then?

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

Poland passes law to chemically castrate certain sex offenders

In the news today:

Polish MPs have passed legislation making it obligatory to chemically castrate certain sex offenders.

Under the law anyone found guilty of raping children under 15, or close relatives, will be given drugs to lower their sex drive.

[news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8275236.stm]

MPs in the lower house of parliament have voted for Poland to become the first nation in the EU to chemical castrate pedophiles.

MPs voted almost unanimously, Friday morning, to pass an amendment to the penal code which would enable chemical castration.

Aha! Trying to make up the 66+ comment in the other thread...we saw that... :D

The same happened to me a couple of days ago.

What a quick year. Can't believe it's been a year so fast. Time flies...

USA, Canada / What do you think about NM (New Mexico) state? [40]

The chances of someone who has no interest in Poland or Polish people reading this thread are slim. People come to PF to read, learn, chat about Poland or Polish related subjects. If you like, I can take "Polish" out the title and put the thread in the off-topic lounge. That way anyone can chat about anything in New Mexico. Otherwise, to remain in the public forum, it must have a Polish theme.

Thanks.

Food / Polish food in Pictures. [277]

Mr Chopin, thanks for sharing. The tastebuds in PD Manor are going overtime. Although they may have to wait a bit before the fantasy is fulfilled.

I'm interested to know if anyone would write about Polish food for the ongoing competition because I am sure there any people who know more about cooking for occasion like weddings, funerals etc or just cooking in general. :)

Yeah that's a bit strange that she isn't going to anywhere else in the UK.

I'll miss her singing that Ella Elle la song though, it's great. Although I know there's another reason the males might want to see her ;)

Warsaw is not her only date in Poland...

Cheers for that Lir. :)

I only use recipes when starting off something new. After the first time I don't bother with them. Same with weighing, first time weigh, after that don't bother. ;)

Yes the pictures are great but I could do with a written recipe with measurements in it, not that I really like following a recipe but when I make something the first time it's always handy... :)

Ah they look nice enough. I'll have to get them from somewhere.

I may make it tomorrow. Maybe I will post some pics. I meant to post some pics of my foray into kopytka, but they are still in the camera.

Oh yes that would be good. And the kopytka as well. And anything else that anybody happens to have. :)

UK, Ireland / Polish Beer In The UK [98]

That must have set you back a fair price.

I'm trying to think of the other Polish beer in Tesco. Not Zyweic. Actually it might not have been Tesco, it might have been the Polish shop near my house. Anyway, I can't remember the name of the beer but I know that Tesco is stocking more and I know that my local Polish shop has a bigger range.

If anyone cares. ;)

Work / Salary expectations in Poland [373]

What has gone wrong?

Wrong wording in the job advertisements?

They give free drinks to their friends,

I get free drinks in my local from the manager, who is only installed by the brewery. She's not Polish.

Incidentally, if anyone is giving away free drinks it should be docked from their pay. Or your friend didn't realise that?

when offered a drink they choose the most expensive or a double of their favourite.

See, that's just smart.

Language / I need advice - how long does it take to learn Polish? [70]

Everyone takes different lengths of time to learn so don't worry if you appear slower than someone else who is learning because you'll also be picking it up faster than another person.

It all depends on the amount of time you can give to learning each day, each week and how easy or difficult you are finding it. Some aspects of the language you may pick up straight away and others you may have great difficulty with. Don't worry about it. It will come.

It's good that you understand people when they speak slowly, it means you're not far away from understanding them when they speak quickly. :) Keep at it. :)

Love / Scottish & Polish relationships [229]

For instance, despite that history, this is not why Seanus selected his Polish girl. His seems more the natural result of geographic location,

Well, at a guess he didn't "select" a Polish girl at all. His travels took him to Poland where he met a girl whom he connected with and so they are together. Location may be correct but also could have been in any other country and met a Polish girl or indeed a girl from another country either there or in Poland. It's because they connected as people not because of their nationality.

. But I am more interested in hearing of romantic interaction of today and the reasons for it.

Well, there is one simple reason for it. Previous to 2004 there were a small amount of Polish people here and now there are thousands. So it's natural that there is more romantic interaction. Again though, people fall in love because they are attracted to a person for a personality reason, not because of where they come from. (If it is an attraction, it will not keep them together if they are not right for each other).

Please tell me more about your multiple daily varied contacts with a Polish man (men?). I assure you, it is only for scientific reasons that I ask. ;)

In general terms, I work with Polish men, I socialise with Polish men.

I wish someone would explain to me this apparent fascination girls have to men in skirts.

Kilt is quite different from skirt but never mind that. Only men of a certain build can carry off looking good in a kilt, too skinny or too fat and the look is lost. The kilt is a Scottish national dress and when it's worn properly it's fantastic. I get a bit hacked off with this skirt thing, many forget that tradition says the kilt should be worn with nothing underneath, so really it's only hardy men who can wear something that doesn't cover their legs, doesn't protect them from the weather really and don't wear anything under. No comforting trousers for the Scottish man!
