Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

I would donate, but she refuses.
The thing that pisses me off is that they said it was ok at beginning and we went through whole application etc... . then they say no after we send invitations etc.....

I never said I was unwilling to be baptized, it just wont be possible in this time frame and I would have to have other things like confirmation, I am not opposed to it. Also I already agreed on this application to respect her religion and have children baptized

Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

Maybe in the future something can change but it appears this wedding at the end of June is not going to happen. I just wish they would have told us from the beginning before she sent invitations etc...

Oh well

Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

since u are already married is it not possible for your wife to wear white and u both simply repeat your wedding vows. or is this what u are doing ?

just asking.

Yes I suppose this is what we want to do, She lives now in Poland but will move here when immigration approves her. but I was just now going to the place here where I live for document showing it was only civil wedding previous to send them and she called me. They had some meeting in a court of the church and the decided it is impossible for us to be married in the church. Something about even if it was civil wedding, the fact that I am not baptized means no way it can be, I guess? Before they said it was OK for like one side wedding for her only. Apparently none of the bishop or people in the court could agree, some said yes it is OK and some said no, no way

They also say since she will live with me she can no longer take some sacraments in the church.
So her and her mom are sad and upset. So there is no reason to continue this discussion anymore.

Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

Well It is nice to see someone understanding my situation and not calling me names. It is exactly as you state Mafketis,
I think I can produce a marriage certificate from our vital statistics bureau to show it was not catholic, if you think that would help, but there is no such thing as a divorce document from the church possible here if it is not Catholic. So I just trying to understand how to solve the problem.

I am not catholic, she told me it would be like a one way wedding in Poland where she is married in the eyes of the church and I was not. It sounds strange, but I was told they do something like this. The divorce decree from the court is all I have to show I am not married.

When I say "do this to them", I mean first they said this document from the court was acceptable and now it is not. That is all I meant. If from the beginning they said there is a problem and she did not make all of these plans I would understand

I told my wife this, that they want some donation, but she thinks of things in an ideal way and doesn't agree to it.

I just feel badly about it for her and her family after planning this wedding

Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

I was married in an outdoors park by someone arranged by my previous wife. Here in US all is required is to be ordained which can not even have a connection to church

It was 17 years ago and I don't remember exact details, is that so hard to believe

And divorce takes place in court here, not church unless you are catholic I have divorce decree from court.

It was definitely not Catholic priest!

I am not a troll so a genuine retard I suppose. That's the thing I like about this forum, the people are so nice and polite

I was not married in Catholic church previously, it was only a civil wedding I believe. So if it was civil how can I prove divorce in church?

We are already married through a civil wedding and she is moving here, I don't care about this wedding for myself, it is for here and her family. It is a pity they would do this to them

I am confused, she is in Poland and she is talking directly to the priest herself. They told her at the beginning everything was ok, now they want this document that is not possible to produce.

Is this like a shakedown for money? It is funny I told her the same thing, how much $
Thanks for info, any additional info is appreciated

Love / American marrying Polish woman in Poland - Church problems [79]

I am currently married to a Polish woman through a civil wedding in the US. We are planning a church wedding in Poland this summer and everything was planned and the church said OK, but now they say there is a problem because the catholic church wants a proof of my divorce from previous wife in church. It was minister that was methodist or non denominational, or even only civil, I don't recall it was 17 years ago. But here in US we do not have divorce through church when church is not catholic, it is only through court. So what can I do?

USA, Canada / American man with a Polish wife. Will children be dual citizens? [20]

Thank you for your reply, it is just something we discuss. I am not concerned with being Polish citizen myself. But if we have children I think she would like for them to have it, and they will learn Polish. I am trying to learn. I really like Poland very much!

USA, Canada / American Marrying Polish woman - visa question [41]

Yes we both agree on it and it will be easy to remember. Thanks. After this 3 week holiday here we will have a long wait, but I plan to go to Poland in August for holiday with her. I think CR1 takes typically 9 months

USA, Canada / Education transfer USA (Micro biology from a technical university in Poland) [30]

She does not want any more education only to work.
She says the description of degree is MGR. So she will go to her university and see about it. She has been working for 5-6 years in the field and can have good references, so I am hoping it is possible to find a job in this area

USA, Canada / Education transfer USA (Micro biology from a technical university in Poland) [30]

My fiancee has 5 year degree in micro biology from technical university in Poland, what would it be equivalent to in USA? Will this degree transfer to USA in terms of being able to work in this field? What if any other things could be helpful to get job in this field?

USA, Canada / American Marrying Polish woman - visa question [41]

I think the fiance visa will only save a coupe months and add $1000 to the total cost if my research is correct. I know she will have to return and wait for CR-1, but I can go there during the wait.

USA, Canada / American Marrying Polish woman - visa question [41]

I am born in and from USA, white not Indian, We are just looking for best way for our future.
Also when she want to work here, will her 5 year degree in microbiology will it be useful in US (ie will it transfer for new job). We were thinking marry here on first visit then she returns to complete her job and sell flat etc.. I file I-310 for CR-1 and wait it out for 9 months or so. Then go to Poland for church wedding (for her and family) after approval then return to US, is this a sound plan?

USA, Canada / American Marrying Polish woman - visa question [41]

Sorry it is my Fiancee, I say it wrong, I visit her many times in Poland and we know each other 1 year. We love each other very much and waiting is difficult.

I have very good job and income so that will not be a problem. Thanks for you advice. We will see what happens, I cannot leave my job long enough to reside in Poland unless it is short time like for a holiday.

American marrying Polish

I will be marring my fiancee from Poland. I think first we will have civil wedding in US then church wedding in Poland
What should I expect. I know I will need some documents. Where do I get document of permission to marry? Does it need translated (sworn). What other requirements and documents will I need. And what will she need for civil wedding here?

Thanks

USA, Canada / American Marrying Polish woman - visa question [41]

That is what I am thinking, but I get so much different advice it is confusing.
Will they grant multiple entry on first application?

I agree the visa situation here in USA is very stupid

My intention was like this, she will come here for 3 weeks on tourist visa and see how she likes it, and meet my family. We are certain to marry. I was planning we could marry here on tourist visa if she likes and start all paperwork, then she would return and take care of the things she needs (she must give one month notice for work) and find a smaller flat for her mother only etc.. And then I could go there for church wedding for her family. I never intended her to stay permanent on tourist visa. Is this reasonable idea?
