USA, Canada / Do Poles feel America is going down the drain? [149]

America will not go anywhere for the next 20-30 years. It will remain the worlds biggest superpower. Their economy is way to big to crash in a day.

But yeah, the giant is in trouble. For now.

Love / Is Indian/Polish relationship possible? [370]

Under-class

You guys still have that in England? The word in itself is incorrect...

Immigration should be stopped not capped

An impossible thing to do and no country can afford to do so...

Do people think that my gg grand parents made this country the way is for some inbreds to come in and ruin it!?

You have so many inbreds because of somethings which your grandparents did and it seems you are keen to make the same mistakes..

Mixing with inferior cultures doesnt work

How is your culture better than others?

News / Did you know that Polish army is the weakest in Central Europe?.. [150]

the Afghans that is.

I know quite a few of them(lots of refugees in Delhi). They really are the most loyal and courageous people I have ever seen. In Urdu there is a saying "afghan ki jabaan" which directly translates to "the word of an Afghan". Meaning, that when an Afghan gives you his word, he will rather die than break it. There is saying amongst the more war oriented people in India, That there are some men who you are born to live with and there some some with whom youre meant to die with. The afghans are the second kind. They are also all poets. really fascinating people.

They still haven't won the war in Afghanistan and they won't.

No but they will destroy the country and starve them all to death and go back home to Baskin Robins and Cheeseburgers and talk about the mighty American military. Unfortunately, Poland's name in history will also go down along similar lines.

I'm convinced that that could easily be disproven if put to the test.

That probably isn't going to happen in the near future.
The Polish military is also very small compared to a lot of other countries in the world. Their military spending is also low.
This actually proves how smart the Polish government is. They are now concentrating on issues which matter(health, education, roads, etc) rather than a useless asset like an army.

Look at India and China. they maintain the largest militaries and spend massive amounts of money...but their people are starving. They make nukes but don't have money to bake bread.

A war today is not won by the army, it's won by your economy, your diplomacy and your alliances. The army is just something which governments use to stroke their egos with and use as a political weapon to gain votes. How many years has it been seen Europe actually landed themselves in a war? More than 60...Now that is the way to go.

History / Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Serbia- segmented. Who is next? Poland? [90]

Serbian economy isn`t joke, for your info. Seriously.

Show me how the Serbian economy is comparable to the Polish economy?? I would like to see one link which would prove this. In this "confederation" of yours, Poland will end up feeding millions of Serbians. Poland can and has benefited more from joining the EU than it could ever have by joining Serbia.

What next? Are you gonna tell me that the Serbian economy is better than the German one?
Or that Serbians are a more superior race than Western-Europeans?

Poles need Serbs more then Serbs need Poles. Well, let`s say that we need each others

Well this is news to me. Why exactly do the Poles need Serbia? They seem to be doing fine.

because it is suitable to Serbs.

Now that is the one statement which makes sense....Are you an online comedian?

no more then Bill Clinton or Tony Blair

No arguments there. But again sort of dumb to compare yourself with them.

But Poles should convince so called west to accept new reality. [God help you Poles]

And how would Poland benefit from such a "confederation"? Russia doesn't give a crap about any confederation. And the serbian economy is a joke, why would the poles needlessly burden themselves with Serbia? Why would Czechs and Ukranians and Slovaks accept Polish language? I think you're a little off center...

Life / Do Polish people help one another? [40]

The younger generation in Poland is more helpful than the older generation. Atleast thats been my experience. Ofcourse this could be due to the face that very few of the older generation speak english. but some of the younger ones are a pain too. Ive met some who just want ciggies or a zloty even before you ask a question.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

Why don't they go to study in Denmark then? This is clear violation. They exploit the EU legislation bribing their way into EU.There are so many holes,we don't need more.

They don't go to Denmark because the universities want more than a fake high school certificate and also Copenhagen is way more expensive to live in. The danish embassy doesn't hand out visas to every Tom or Dick who stumbles in claiming to be a student.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

Probably not. But Scandinavian authorities search restaurants etc from time to time and check for working-visas for non-EU citizens.

they wont check for specific people. Its quite a large city from what i hear.

It's not the Soviet Union. But I guess, if you never attend classes, your student-visa will be terminated.

again, not necessary. you can simply go and join another course or university and have your visa extended.

& who are these Scandinavian Authorities?

the consulates mostly, but i wouldn't count on it.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

Can't their respective Colleges check on their students? whether they have attended college, whether they are still attending college, since I am given to understand that the Polish Social security is been issued through applications which the college takes care of?

yes the University gives you a letter stating that you are a student. Your class attendance depends on your course. Also how is the university bothered if you go ad work illegally somewhere? if you don't meet the requirements to pass your semester, they will fail you. Thats their responsibility and thats about it. A lot of students are weekend students. They go to class every 2 weeks or so. Even if they don't their pals sign in their name. It's no big deal. all students do it. I do it too. Sometimes my friends and I are so drunk we can't go to class. Some one signs us in. Big deal.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

No! If they are working in Denmark on a student-visa they can be kicked out. But you should contact Danish Immigration authorities. They speak English.

Could you prove that they are working there? Like i said they work illegally with no paperwork. How can you really prove that they were working there and not just visiting relatives? What you do have is one guy accusing the other of breaking the law. The Danish consulate will not even talk to him.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

I guess it's possible but the thing is that they when the Foreign office approaches them(that is considering they take you seriously), there is not much that they can do since these students are allowed to travel on their cards. They are not working legally. So there is no paperwork which can be traced. till the point of time that you can prove that they were working there(and hence breaking the law) you can't do much about it. Neither can they.

Thats what i think anyway. You can give it a shot at the immigration office but you'll need to speak polish(quite well) to explain the situation to them. I doubt if they will be very cooperative. They have too much to do.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

Why do you think they don't know? Of course they do. But once your'e in the EU its kinda difficult to keep track of every idiot who runs away. Borders are open remember. And you have Indians with businesses in lets say Netherlands helping them get jobs without notifying the government. Theres not much that you can do about it.

Polonia / Indian Students in Poland but wanting to Work in Denmark. [29]

No they are not allowed to work there. But they get more money there and they can travel on the TRC which the polish government issues them(under the impression that they are students). They are here to study not work. They have no reason to work considering that they showed enough funds for their visa to live here for the period of study.

History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

What do you mean by else? People other than who?

from what i can gather, i think he is talking about the local polish population...which is kinda dumb of course they suffered its a fricking war isnt it?

but the degree of suffering between jews and poles was different.
nobody i think in his right mind would deny thats poles didnt suffer...but i dont think that any race on this planet suffered as much as the jews

Life / Indian Stores In Warsaw [139]

Lodz has two indian restraunts..Buddha[dunno why they named it that but the food sucks] and Ganesh on pitrkowska[sucks but less]..havent seen an indian store here though...Tried an indian restraunt in Krakow(pretty good) but i guess krakow is krakow(nothin like krakow).

By the way, one friend told me that Islamic Indian Food and the Classical Indian Food has some differences.

ok here goes...there is nothing really called indian food as such. there are 27 different states in india and the food in each one of them is completely different from one another. uncomparable. but bangladeshi food is a lot like Bengali food(being so close to west bengal) and tradtitionla islamic north indian food. Majority of food in bangladesh is based on fish(same as in West Bengal) but being a muslim country they also have the tradition nihari and biryani. thats what i know(not much since i dont cook for nuts).

As per Floripa's brilliant thread, the worst drunkard in the history of the UK is PL. ;)

Work / Will it be easy to find a job within 6-10 months of moving to Poland? [41]

i must admit i am confused. there seem to be two stories about he polish job market...after six months of living here and reading and writing on the forum, talking to people, i have no idea what the real story is.

1.there are no jobs in poland, run away to western europe or ull starve(story 1).
a lot of my polish freinds seem to say the same thing

2.poland has more jobs than people think. unemployment levels are low and opportunities to make money are high. (story 2)
again, alot of people seem to say that.

So what is the real story? from what i read, the polish economy seems to be doing fine in these rather turbulent times, as far as knowing polish to get a job...well isnt that kinda obvious considering that this is poland...? some cities(krakow and wroclaw) again seem too have a lotta foreign investment and some really big names have massive offices there.

so whats the situation really like?
