But you are absolutely right. Brits are apparently lower down the IQ scale than Poles. Which really does beg a lot of questions.

I wouldn't advice coming back to Poland either legion. There is a much greater need for cannon fodder in the US

Insurance with Polish cars is with the car itself rather than an individual person. In my experience you can drive any car as long as you have the insurance documents (car documents) with you whilst driving it

I do not believe that foreigners pushed up the prices so much here either

They didnt. Its just another example of the blame deflection culture in Poland

This really isnt the case as you point out in the first few lines of your post - even back then, before th market openned up, you were asking if these people are crazy. The short term greedy bastards you refer to are as much Polish as anyone else. Foreigners might be the ones who can afford these prices but it is locals who largely set them. As you say, the Polish real estate market has always been this way. Why blame the new comers just because the can afford to pay the extortionate prices?

I see craziness. What has happened in the real estate market over the past however long is a prime expample and I wont accept for a moment that it's been driven by foreign investors because quite frankly, in the market I have been buying in it hasn't.

What I am seeing happening in the rental market atm is doing damage to the wider community. I am seeing prime real estate sitting empty becaue the rent being demanded is higher than anyone running a legitimate and legal business could possibly afford to pay. Who does this benefit? Nobody. It's stupidity, selfishness and greed

I have found, from personal experience, that when driving to Poland it is invariably better to fly. Let someone else deal with the problem of getting their in one piece.

Are you teaching English in Poland? Where are you teaching? Did you come to Poland to teach English or are you teaching English because you are in Poland and it's the easiest job to get? Where will I work? Are there many language schools in Poland?

Do you have a teaching qualification? What resources are you using? Do you get training where you work? How easy was it to find work? What are the best schools to work for? When should I look for work? Who do I apply to?

How much will I earn? How many hours will I work? Do they pay you enough to live a decent life? Is it enough to support a family? Can you pay a mortgage in the wages of an English teacher? Do you see this as a future for you?

And many other questions about teaching English in Poland. Share your experiences if you will.

Probably easiest to find a job once you're 'on-the-ground'. Present yourself well, up-date your CV (resume) and do the rounds of schools in the area. You are more likely to find work at certain time of the year than others - start of the academic year is best.

Go for it. You might not walk into a job as quickly as someone who has a degree, or have as many options open to you. Then again, it might make no difference at all. There are plenty of schools desperate for a native speaker on their teaching staff

Communication doesn't demand fluency or accuracy. It just needs to be sufficient for meaning to be understood. The degree to which you need to be competent in a language depends on the complexity of the message you are trying to communicate.

If person A from Albania can't effectively understand person B from Lithuania, is this real 'communication', or more accurately, 'approximation'?

Approximation may well be sufficient to communicate your message :)

How peole react to uninvited correction depends on individual and cultural factors. I would be extremely sensative when offering uninvited corrections

Some good points here.

Lets not forget that English is the global language and in many instances when it is spoken it will be non-native speakers speaking English with non-native speakers. Both of which will speak English in their own way and neither of which will speak 'perfect English'.

It's not about speaking English perfectly. It's about communication, as has quite rightly been pointed out.

In a manner of speaking, yes.

But as the amount of tax you pay is relative to the amount you earn, a Pole working a 40 hr week on minimum wages will pay less tax in a year than a Pole working for 15 pounds an hour. I imagine the majority of Poles working in the UK are earning closer to minimum wage than 15 pounds thus, in comparison, the amount of tax they pay is a pittance. As I say, its relative.

It is also worth remembering hat India was occupied by the British whereas Poland was occupied by the Russians. If you get my drift.
