USA, Canada / Polish Tutor in California [23]

phillygirl, I'd like to learn Polish for fun. When my grandmother moves on, no one in my family will be able to speak Polish and this would be a shame, I'd like to remedy that. I speak a little Polish, but I mean just a little. I know hello, goodbye, I'd like something to drink/eat, where is ______ street? Please, thank you. Just very basic stuff. I can't read or write any of it. I'd love to meet with you. I'm a fast learner and I could pay you. We'll have to keep in touch until June.

News / 10,000 ISRAELIS READY TO CLAIM FOR POLISH CITIZENSHIP AND POLISH LAND! [628]

Doesn't anyone realize that just 100 years ago Poland was as diverse as any nation in Europe? Just 70 years ago? When Julie describes Southern California, it might as well be Poland in 1923. It was a giant melting pot of people of different faiths, creeds, and nationalities. What happened is due to giant powers on either side, Poland went from being one of the most diverse countries to one of the most homogenized. It's a shame, but all the people who thought differently or were different from the approved list of people from both Germany and Russia were forced out, left on their own, or were killed. Poland not long ago was as diverse and tolerant as can be, why couldn't it become this way once again?

UK, Ireland / Polish and Irish should love each other [65]

Ireland and Poland are kindred spirits. They are very much the same. Poles and Irishmen have been through nearly the same struggles and burdens, there should be no hatred, only respect and admiration.

Thanks, Tom. I've looked into Rosetta Stone, but it's so expensive. I guess you've got to spend money to learn a different language, though. Thanks everyone for your advice. beckski, I go to that church, so I'll have to look at the bulletin board, thanks.

I live in LA and want to learn Polish. I have CDs and books and know a little but have no idea if I'm pronouncing things correctly. Learning languages on your own is so difficult and I'm looking for a tutor in the Los Angeles area to help me out. Any suggestions?

USA, Canada / Polish Restaurant in Orange County, California [12]

I have plans to go to Warszawa this weekend and I like Polka a lot. It's far from my house, however. I've heard good things about Warszawa and I'm looking forward to eating there.

Let us know if it's any good. It's so hard to find good Polish food in the LA area, if I can find me some good pierogies, I might just drive down to Anaheim. Keep us posted!
