Work / Salary of a customer service representative in Krakow [28]

In 2011 gross medium was 4000pln, so now it's probably 4500. Net is 2/3 of that.

hays.pl/cs/groups/hays_common/documents/digitalasset/hays_465124.pdf - page 19, column "Woj. Małopolskie"

According to this website:

Kraków has 2 x bigger purchasing power than Rome. So if you get 4500PLN gross = 3300PLN net = 800 eur, then it's similar as if you were getting 1600eur net in Rome. That's provided that you were spending all your money in that city.

Life / Sports tv and UK tv channels in Poland ( via box connecting to TV and Internet ) [33]

I think he meant that: skystreamx.com
It's XBMC player with interesting plugins installed on Android device with HDMI, so you can connect it to TV. You can check how it works by installing XBMC on your PC. The configuration and searching for useful plugins will take some time, so this package is not a bad offer. It can work with Hulu and Netflix, there is a plugin for BBC iPlayer too. Of course you need British or American proxy or VPN for use in Poland). Problem is that not always video stream is in high quality.

If you need VPN, then here is the cheapest deal which I've found and use: viatun.com less than 1USD/month with UK,USA,NL VPNs.

Here somebody shows how the XBMC with plugins works: youtube.com/watch?v=Wdn8dCaDJtU

I cannot change the county or anything there. There is no reaction - nearly static list.

UK, Ireland / Transfer Money from UK to Poland [36]

You're right, that transactions in EUR are not so popular as in PLN in Poland, for currency exchange local Kantor or online one like walutomat.pl have always better rates than any big bank.

What about your website being simple add banner? Nothing works there.

UK, Ireland / Transfer Money from UK to Poland [36]

but in our experience, conversion fees applied by banks are often around 3-5%

Why would I want my money to be converted? When I transfer them from Germany to Poland, then it's from EUR account to EUR account.

UK, Ireland / Transfer Money from UK to Poland [36]

SEPA money transfer is free from German to Polish account. It looks like spam, though. Your website shows the same stuff regardless of country chosen.

Study / Student in Warsaw - is 9000 ZL enough to live and pay expenses? [8]

You would need around 8,376.98zł (1,613.81£) in Warsaw to maintain the same standard of life that you can have with 2,700.00£ in Leeds (assuming you rent in both cities). This calculation uses our Consumer Prices Including Rent Index.

1500eur per month for apartment in Warsaw for 3 people? I think you can find something small quite easily for 1/3 of that. 9000pln - is it net or gross?

Genealogy / Where did most Germans live in Poland in the 19th century? [26]

Here is a nice map showing where German language was used 70 years after the time you had asked. I guess it hasn't changed completely.

Travel / Information on flying from USA to Warsawa next spring [5]

Biggest flight comparison websites let you create an alert on price changes for given month and destination. So you can be notified, when cheap offer shows up. For example skyscanner.com or expedia.com.

Ask your family about your Polish relatives.

Work / How can I find a job in Poland especially in Warsaw? I am from China, I have polish wife. [3]

Here is some old topic, which you can study: polishforums.com/work-43/look-job-poland-21030/

Here are few job portals with search results for "Chiński"

pracuj.pl/praca/chi%C5%84ski;kw
pl.indeed.com/Praca-Chi%C5%84ski
jobisjob.pl/chi%C5%84ski/praca
pl.jobrapido.com/Oferty-pracy-Chi%C5%84ski
praca.com/praca/chi%C5%84ski-j/

Perhaps invest in intensive Polish language course. There are some preparing for studies in Poland. It last around 1 year, 5 days per week, around 5h per day. Costs around 10 000 PLN. With advanced Polish and native Chinese you should have some job opportunities. Without Polish, your foreign experience will not be worth much here. Most of Asians in Warsaw are from Vietnam and they sell usually cheap clothes. For most of people you will be considered yet another Vietnamese seller.

You have also opportunity to work in any other European Country, but your wife has to find there job as first:

Workers

If you are working in another country - as an employee, self-employed or on a posting, your non-EU spouse, (grand) children or (grand)parents can stay there with you without having to meet any other conditions.

Equal treatment
During their stay in your new country, your non-EU spouse, (grand)children or (grand)parents should be treated as nationals, notably as regards access to employment, pay and benefits facilitating access to work, enrollment in schools, etc.

Law / Questions regarding bringing my (Spanish) car to Poland [19]

I think the EU law says that you have to change plates when you move to other EU country. Meaning that you don't have to do that if you're just going through a country or for short time as a tourist. In practice you can get fined only if some policeman stops you and decides to check if you're registered in Poland. If he notices that you are registered in Poland for longer than 3 months then you should get a penalty. I don't think it's very likely, but can happen. Also taxes for cars are probably cheaper in Poland than in Spain, so it could be cheaper for you to change registration to Polish in long run.

Work / Muslim woman in Poland trying to get a job (do Poles like hiring 'different' people?) [17]

It's an interview with a 18 years old Chechen woman living in Poland since 10 years. We find out from it that Poles don't like to hire different people. That's why Muslims wearing hijab have little chance of getting a job in Poland (even, when they speak perfect Polish).

Few fragments google translated:

This is your origin is bothering you in finding a job in Poland?

The problem for employers is the appearance, and actually hijab, which I can not remove. When a Muslim ending 15 years of age must begin to wear it, no matter the weather or circumstances. Where are the men, I can not take it off, I show only the hands and face. I am a Muslim, so I have to do what Allah says.

Employers tell you frankly that the hijab is a problem?

Some people with whom I spoke, answered frankly that the headscarf can not hire me. Did not hide it. Sometimes accepted my application, assured me that he would soon be contacted, even if the answer is negative, but the phone was silent.

The whole article google translated:

As f9r the job, well you might perhaps get one in a call center,

If he is an native speaker of some western European language and if the company will request for work permit for him.

Real Estate / Poland online property ownership checker (government website) [19]

I think that statistics wouldn't be very reliable, because foreigners cannot own farming land in Poland yet, but they own it through Polish intermediaries. As for apartments it's around 200 000 m^2 per year: ekonomia.rp.pl/galeria/707218,2,1108136.html

Mostly it's Germans, British and Ukrainians: ekonomia.rp.pl/galeria/707218,3,1108136.html

Foreigners own many companies operating in Poland.

Work / Studies In Poland, is it easy to survive on part-time jobs? [259]

1. Will I be able to find any Part time jobs in Poznan and am I eligible to work 20 hours per week (4hrs*5 days)?

As a student you would have work permit for 3 summer months only.

2. What will be the average earnings I will be able to get ?

4zł/h If somebody would help you and If you would learn some basic Polish language, then you could gather strawberries on an field or other farming jobs during summer. It's impossible for a foreigner to get clerk type job.

3. What will be the minimum living cost here if I choose to live in University Dorms..?

1000zł/month

4. Is it hard to learn Polish if I am good in English..?

Yes it usually takes min 4 years, but some people learn up to B1/B2 level in 1 year, when studying full time Polish language.
