History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

Wtf are you talking about? We LOST WWII.

Brilliant tactics are resulting in success not in bloody mess and disaster.

Germany lost the war because this psycho Hitler attacked too many countries at the time and because of a very cold winter in the SU.

shows how stupid he was not to listen to educated and trained generals in his stab.

This is what I was repeatedly saying in this thread.

What lagged behind was a STRATEGY

Well, Hitler messed it all up himself.

Can we get back to the flag, please.

Still waving ;-)

No need to be funny

I'm not trying to be. Those two words stand basically for the same.

yes I do know

obviously not.

Oh.. So your sharing your sandbox we don't have any sandboxes to share? No more sandboxes for anyone?! Ohhh....

Typical reaction (I observed it many times while in Poland), you ran out of options to continue a normal discussion and now you try to ridicule me. Oh well, who cares.

Why do we need links to back up what most people recognize as historical fact.

If it was so obvious, we wouldn't have our disagreement here, would we?

are you a newb or you just mocking me?

Why would I? I just love to discuss with Poles, especially about history.

did I say it was all alone? It was all combined!!!

was it also combined with their outstanding military tactics?

I am glad that the Union is gone

I see it more as an occupation but then again I don't know, I haven't experienced it myself. I can only repeat what many older Poles told me, how they seen this union with the Soviets.

Yes you are, bring more links or you-know-who will get beaten up again

Do you know what it means to be an informant, Mr. Tannenberg?
I don't need to provide any more links as none of you guys has provided any links to go against mine. All I'm getting from you is your opinion, that's it.

If I have to choose what to believe, a written word by some people who spend a lot of time to investigate our present subject or to believe your words, the answer is clear.

Germans fought so many wars for so long. Ask Nietzsche. They were very militaristic and full of themselves.

and after the WW1 they weren't even allowed to have a regular army. I guess that was the time when they gathered the most of their military experience.

Thank you. You are an great informant

well, you're welcome. I'm not an informant though (lol)

It's a matter of historical fact

So far, I was pretty much the only one in this thread who was presenting links to show that what I'm saying here is based on historical facts.

world war 1, Spanish civil war... Invasion of Czechoslovakia + intelligence?

at least you admit that the Germans are intelligent :-) The Spanish civil war and the invasion of Czechoslovakia alone wouldn't make them so successful.

I am the most anti-Soviet person among "normal people"

maybe not counting me and some other people I know.

In flat landscape you mean
otherwise Germans by most of the time were outnumbering their enemies (not on a global level but on a local one)

The Germans were winning because of their brilliant military tactics and because of their (mostly) better military equipment. As far as the numbers, the Soviets had way more airplanes and tanks from the beginning on and were still losing (very fast) until the very cold winter came and the negative results on the other fronts started affecting the German military power in the war against the SU too.

Even if russian ones are either unavailable or not to be trusted at least the german side would teach him alot.

To keep it all neutral, let him study at least the British sites for a change.

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

They only had their people to throw at the Germans...not brain or smart tactics.

This is exactly what I was saying but it's like talking to the wall.

at the beginning of the German invasion of the SU

the Germans had

~3.9 million soldiers (including reserve),
3,600 tanks,
4,389 aircraft[1]
46,000 artillery pieces

the Soviets had

~3.2 million initial (later 5 million more)
12,000-15,000 tanks,
35,000-40,000 aircraft (11,357 combat ready on 22 June 1941)[2]

Even though the Soviets had a huge advantage from the beginning on, they were still losing very quickly (links above) until the extremely cold winter came and the results on the other fronts decisively impacted the eastern front.

I'm going to repeat myself again, if Hitler wouldn't send his military in all possible directions, he would most likely win this war.

How can you ignore the facts, the statistics so easily???

maybe because he's very pro Soviet? The funny thing is that Sok is taking a side of the biggest enemy Poland ever had.

But you should ask yourself if the Nazis would have been just as bad without him

for one, there would be no Nazis if no Hitler.

He would have ran into just as much trouble focusing all his attention on Russia.

You even say "he could have", we call it speculation. The facts presented above (the extremely fast progress of the German army) show different scenario.

would have eventually exhausted the wehrmacht, leaving Britain, France and America opportunity to sweep in and get him from the west. He just didn't have enough people in his army to be that powerful and others were not fighting for him. He was isolated. He would have burned himself out, eventually, no matter what.

Accordingly to the fast progress of the Germans in the SU, I don't believe that the Soviets would beat the Germans without the western and the African front.

I totally disagree with your "no matter what".
I observed on this forum that many Poles still have a lot of sympathy for the Soviets even the ones who live in the US like you. I mean, you guys were practically occupied by them for so long. You are defending your enemy. Strange.

True but one battle doesn't make a war. The Soviet Army defeated Hitler's German war machine. They were defeated by the time of the 1944 Normandy invasion (yes, the weather helped).

Isn't it what I've been saying repeatedly so many times tonight that the Germans lost because Hitler made them fight on so many different fronts?

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

Well yes...and then we have reality. Fall of Nazi Germany.

Of course we have and I told you earlier why, Hitler attacked to many countries at the same time. In a case of the SU, additionally came the really cold winter that helped the Soviets to beat the Germans.

Why did all that happen if the Red Army was smoke

I'm not saying that the Soviets were so hopeless, I'm saying that the Germans lost mainly because of the earlier mentioned reasons, that's all.

You think all these people would let that outcome happen if the Red Army was this weak, ineffective thing?

It's not really about the Soviets, it's about the Germans who were extremely weakened by Hitler's stupid policy. Let's be honest PP, show me one even a halfway intelligent strategist who would split up his war activities into so many fronts. This is what happens when a psycho corporal leads the whole army.

If that's true,

Listen PP and few others too (no irony here I promise), do you consider yourself intelligent? I assume you do, then tell me why are you still seeing this as a discussion between us? I'm providing historical facts based on quite a few links in the meantime. This is not just some kind of private opinion, this is written by people who investigated history before they created this link and posted it online.

I'm not going to argue with you guys.

The German Blitzkrieg technique was as devastating in Russia as it had been in the rest of Europe. The scene was set for a war of annihilation waged by the Nazis against the Soviets with no mercy shown by either side. One week into the German invasion, 150,000 Soviet soldiers were either dead or wounded - more than during the five months of the Battle of the Somme.

As the German armies swept further into the Russian heartland, one million Soviet troops were drafted to protect Kiev. But despite Stalin's ruthless order forbidding any city to surrender, Kiev fell and 600,000 Soviet soldiers were captured.

How did Hitler screw up AGC in 1941 according to you?

We'll never agree Sok doesn't matter how many links I (or anyone else) will provide because you still have lots of sympathy for your Soviet friends and I personally deeply hate communism. I'm providing neutral links (neither German nor Russian) and you still keep disagreeing with it. BB provided even a Russian link and you still dismissed it. You seem to be blind in your love to communism and that's why there's no sense to continue this exchange.

Do you have problems with reading comprehension?

No you do. Again
historylearningsite.co.uk/operation_barbarossa.htm

By Day 17 of the attack, 300,000 Russians had been captured, 2,500 tanks, 1,400 artillery guns and 250 aircraft captured or destroyed. This was only in the territory attacked by Army Group Centre. To any military observer, the Russian Army was on the verge of a total collapse and Moscow seemed destined to fall.

In fact, the German advance had been so fast that it had compromised the whole army's supply and communication lines. The Army Group Centre paused on the Desna but it was still thought that it was only catching its breath before moving inexorably on.

So much about your great Red Army, sok.

History / Polish flag over the Reichstag first? [399]

I just told you, Germans attacked Russia with 100% of their available forces, helped by Romanians, Italians, Finns, Hungarians and Slovaks and they still failed.

They failed because they had to fight in the western front and in Africa too at the same time.
Besides, when they first attacked Russia, they were very successful. Fighting on many fronts at the same time and the very cold winter did the rest.

By Day 17 of the attack, 300,000 Russians had been captured, 2,500 tanks, 1,400 artillery guns and 250 aircraft captured or destroyed. This was only in the territory attacked by Army Group Centre. In fact, the German advance had been so fast that it had compromised the whole army's supply and communication lines. The Army Group Centre paused on the Desna but it was still thought that it was only catching its breath before moving inexorably on. However, it was now that the German army was compromised by its own leader - Hitler.

Nope, GW. The Russians simply had the Germans outnumbered.

YES PP (lol). The point is that they wouldn't have the Germans outnumbered if Hitler wouldn't attack so many countries at the same time.

Except the Red Army and the US Army.

No exception here. At the beginning of the WW2, if Hitler wouldn't go so many different directions, the Germans if they attacked just one country at the time, would have beaten any army out there.

By the end of the WW2, that's another story, the Germans were exhausted of having to fight just about the whole world and of course they started losing the war. (anyone else would too).

Hey he said that he is into WWII military operations, and for once I believe him, so hold your horses, girl :)

I don't believe him because the facts are speaking against his theory.
Despite the numbers, if this psycho Hitler wouldn't split up German forces in so many fronts, there was absolutely no army in the entire world which could face the Germans 1:1 and win during the WW2.

All the Germans had to do is to concentrate on just one front at the time and they would have most likely won the whole thing.

That's the dumbest movie i saw in my life very very anti German

Fully agree with you. To me it's not even to be taken as a comedy. It's a very bad joke.

Links is not tantamount to evidence son,

OK girl, so whatever is written or filmed is nothing to you unless it's written by the Poles or the Soviets between 1945 and 1989.
It's a waste of time. Case closed.

Can you give me some of your sources Sok?

Watch, he'll suggest a great historical documentary movie "Four men tank crew and a dog".

This movie has the same historical value as the "Inglorious Basterds" (lol)

I won't discuss this fact with you as we will have to agree to disagree here (and that russian witness opinion here count double for me), I only wonder. Especially as you elsewhere can hardly find a good word about russian achievements.

Look, we already provided 2 links about it (Russian and British) and he still disagrees with it.
Freaking unreal.

You need to go to google and find yourself a map of historical Silesia then come back to me and we can have a discussion

Are you seriously denying the fact that Lower Silesia (just like it is the Upper Silesia too) is a part of Silesia.

Post 1947? Yep.

What a bull. You must have been seriously brainwashed by the Soviets. I strongly assume that you were growing up in Poland before 1989.
