News / Which French candidate for president will be best for Poland? [512]

can you provide a credible source

bls.gov/web/empsit/cpseea10.htm

The official unemployment rate for 16 - 19 year olds was 13.7%, and not 20.7% as you said. You do the math yourself if the 20 - 24 years group is included.

Poland could well become the leader or at least one of the top players in that other grouping that might also incldue Spain, Portugal and Italy.

I'd rather see Poland in the first group, to be honest. Culturally, they are certainly much more part of central/ northern Europe than the Mediterranean group. Going together with countries that belonged to the Warsaw Pact might not be an option because most of them can't stand on their own feet yet financially.

Sources please. The national unemployment rate for youth of all colors, age 16 to 19, was 20.7% in November

I gave you the source. The difference between your numbers and theirs is that you define "Youth" as being 16 to 19 years old, whereas the other source defines it as 16 to 24 years old. That's what's called creative statistics...

Stop your misleading propaganda

Those numbers come from Mr. Trump's Bureau of Labor Statistics. You call them propaganda? Interesting.

What you are referring to are youth unemployment rates by race, and you deliberately picked the one for young blacks. That doesn't make sense if you compare the overall unemployment rates of the USA and France directly.

If France decides to exit the EU

That will be the end of it. The few remaining net payers in the EU are simply not rich enough to continue. Would be interesting to see what happens after a collapse of the EU. My bet is that a handful of countries (Germany, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Denmark and Luxembourg) will form the core of a new union that will not be open to any of the bankrupt nations in Europe's south. The east and southeast? Maybe Poland will be invited to join, but I doubt it.

It's too early to speculate though. Even if Le Pen wins, there's still a referendum before the final step can be taken.

In all fairness Pol those are about the same statistics that America has.

Stop your Breitfarts, JR. Youth unemployment in the US was down to 9.1% in March 2017.

Which French candidate will be best for Poland, Poland knows the answer is Ms. Le Pen despite what you ex-pats propaganda living in Poland are trying to promote here on the P.F..

That's naive at best. Just think about what could happen if Le Pen really wins.

1. France leaves the EU
2. The EU breaks apart
3. Poland immediately loses all financial support that it enjoys at the moment
4. Millions of Poles who are now entitled to live and work in other EU countries will have to return home
5. Foreign corporations will leave Poland because there's no advantage for them anymore to manufacture or provide services over there
6. Countries will have to negotiate bilateral trade agreements again from then on. What does Poland have to offer that is competitive on the world market and creates enough domestic jobs?

On top of that, Europe will most likely return to pre WW2 style nationalism - and we all know where that can lead to. All our right wingers here should keep in mind that there are only three parties which profit from an EU breakup: the USA, Russia and the U.K. . Pesky competitor and potential global player eliminated, back to the good old days when the US and USSR ruled supreme. Divide and conquer - and that's supposed to be positive for Poland?

the best strategy would be to get the entire EU on board with reinforcing our external borders and collectively deporting people

I agree with you on strict border controls, although it might be too late for Europe already. After two years the Geneva Convention kicks in, and then refugees are eligible to reunite with their families. I heard from friends in Germany, that they had to let an additional 70,000 people in already under that set of rules. Now imagine 2 million refugees/ economic migrants claiming to be refugees with an average of probably 10 family members or more waiting in the Middle East and Africa. That's where the real problems start. Add to that Erdogan's 5th column in the EU, and you have a recipe for desaster.

The sad part in all this is that real refugees who deserve to be granted temporary asylum will be the ones who suffer and pay the price.

Man they royally screwed themselves by destroying Libya for financial reasons

Algeria and Morocco were French colonies. After independence, many of their people chose to move to France and become French citizens. That goes all the way back to the early 1960's and has nothing to do with the current influx of migrants and refugees. The Brits with their Commonwealth Citizens from Nigeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India are more or less in the same situation.

serious border enforcement on its Southern border

Most refugees/ migrants arrive in Italy and Greece, not in France AFAIK.

USA, Canada / Would you live in California, USA? [240]

We can only hope that California soon has a huge earthquake that breaks it off from the rest of the U.S.

Who would feed you red welfare queens then?

California is a great state to live in even if some rednecks from Flyover Country think otherwise (thank goodness, I should say)... :)

Food / Making American cheeses (Polish and EU ones are terrible!) [100]

These guys have never been to Wisconsin nor have they ever tasted the real and best cheeses from America.

Obviously, the OP has never tasted any real European cheese. Otherwise he would know that you don't buy that stuff off the shelf, but purchase it from a special cheese counter that most grocery stores have. There ... problem solved ...

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

The main thing is that none of those ethnic groups expected preferntial treatment

Preferential? More the opposite: many of them were treated like sh*t the moment they set foot on Ellis Island. One of the reasons why they chose to live in ethnic ghettos just like the Turks in Europe for example.

Food / Making American cheeses (Polish and EU ones are terrible!) [100]

I'm guessing many others here miss the amazing cheeses from America. European cheeses are TERRIBLE!

Seriously? What are you missing? The preservatives that keep your industrial American cheese mold free for a couple of decades, or the trans fats that block your arteries and slowly kill you? The reason why you don't like European cheese is a different one: you are not used to quality and clean food... :)

As with local beers: local cheeses in the US can be quite good, though.

News / Which French candidate for president will be best for Poland? [512]

Yep. The French system has some built-in safeguards to prevent nut jobs from taking over the country. The electoral system in the US is antiquated. Trump called it a "rigged system" before the electoral college handed him the presidency. Then he was all for it, of course...

Fortunately she will lose badly to Macron.

Let's hope the French are not as stupid as the Americans were in the last election...

The youth of France have a 50%> unemployment rate to look forward to

How so? It's a 23.6% at the moment.

source?

What I said is that Le Pen is a fascist who pretends to be a democratic politician.

"Chick" ?

You're right. Bi*tch is much better. :)

Le Pen wants to "Make France Great Again !"

Le Pen wants to teach the French how to do the Nazi salute again. Read up on her father, and you'll know what kind of chick she really is.

Very conservative just like Poland.

Ha ha ha. She's a true fascist even though she claims not to be one. You want people like that to raise their ugly heads in Europe again? A win of Le Pen in France will be the end of the EU, and with it the Polish economy will go down the drain. It's not "Make France Great Again", it's "Make Europe Suck Again".

F... up Greece making them take on more debts

Bah. The Greeks defaulted several times already on their debt. If you can't pay back a loan, then don't take one out. Maybe they should get off their lazy asses for a change and stop relying on other people's money.

What solidarity? There is no solidarity in the EU

That's exactly what I said, Iron. The Germans pay and everybody else pretends to be a good European...

Law / Poland three year residency [30]

if the bulk of those non-native English speakers out there more often than not showed a wee bit of modesty in their application of our language

You will have a point once the majority of native English speakers learn a foreign language. The real tragedy is that most Anglos are simply too lazy or arrogant to do that.

Germany should never have been able to say "come on in" to migrants

The only reason why Merkel opened her stupid mouth was to help out Greece and Italy, which were drowning in refugees/migrants at that time. It has nothing to do with "cheap labor" or "Germany needs people who will support the aging population". It was pure politics, and it backfired "bigly" because most European countries couldn't be bothered to help another member - be it Greece, Italy, Spain or Germany. The EU has always been a club of selfish nation states. Solidarity only works as long as the Germans pay, so don't blame them if they call the shots.

there's a bloody good reason why Thatcher and Mitterrand were deeply unhappy with the fall of East Germany.

But, but, but ... we won the war ... (witch Thatcher).
And Mitterand insisted on the introduction of the Euro for his approval of the German reunification.

the EU is a good concept shame they can't sort it out.

I agree. My hope is that the French election will be a close call and Le Pen gets defeated in the second run. That should (hopefully) wake the damn bureaucrats in Brussels up. The migrant crisis needs to be solved; and quick. Greece and Italy can't handle it, and Germany won't be able to shoulder it alone either. There needs to be a common strategy. Maybe the French election accelerates that a bit.
