USA, Canada / Polish-American groups in Southern California [26]

Is it true that Ocean County people's accent sounds like they don't breathe through their noses when talking? Some Dan Diego girl told me this once.

Love / Polish men are their own special breed ... [96]

stinkybugger since you're so judgmental of other peoples appearance crack open the box and let's see you photo. Since you know it doesn't mean anything what you think of yourself but others.

and its not the best photo of dolph

Russians must be proud that he plays an intimidating physical specimen.

Seen photographic evidence and I can definately say "I would"

Why thank you Shelley I wouldn't mind waking up next to you myself ;)

PennBoy has a Slavic look but he'd also pass as a Scottish rugby player.

Some Latinos and Blacks in this country yell out 'this guy looks like the Russian dude from Rocky IV' when they see me. Although I don't see the resemblance with Dolph.

So why are you so special? Do you have balls of gold or something? ;)

I'm tall, I'm cute, I'm athletic, I'm funny...the list just goes on and on....

Or they will move on. I've never in my life chased after a guy.

I can't expect you to understand since you've never had the honor and privilege of being in my presence :)

I'll just tell you, it was the wrong girl for you...

Might was still young and stupid

If a girl is genuine in her feelings, she will want to spend time with you...If you start acting like a pr*ck, then she will dump you

I didn't mean be mean to her or say bad things but kinda ignore her a bit.

OMG I'm getting bombarded here I feel like Adolf Hitler in his Berlin bunker lol. I didn't say they'll allow it of course they'll protest but it's true. If a man isn't 'a man' a woman looks at him like he's some fool or Bolek as we say in Polish. Sitting with her friends and laughing at how well trained she got him. I'll give you an example I dated a girl who I found very attractive was always nice, smiling doing things for her being sweet I noticed that she's got a look on her face like 'I'll do the same if feel like it' if it wont be to inconvenient. Later I started calling her if I felt like it spending more time with my friends, she came to me. Make the girl chase after you. That's what I mean by they'll respect you more.

Quite a few of the ones I know are like that. Married or dating but still go out and party on their own or with friends (without their girl). Women don't respect men who are too obedient and faithful. If she sees you're acting like it's all indifferently to you whether you're with her or not it get's her thinking ironically makes her want you. Because being nice all the nice looks desperate and is boring to a girl.

Life / Drinking before clubbing in Poland? [25]

My friend suggested "poł litra" before we start the night. I got no idea if thats a good idea, whad'ya think? they're dziewczęta after all.

So that's normal. It gives you a better mood before the club and saves you money. At least they didn't pop an ecstasy pill.

News / Multi-culti (in Poland) -- roadmap to disaster? [344]

Multi-culti -- roadmap to disaster?

Although it has a steadily growing coomuntiy of Vietnamese and other foreigners, Poland is still not a major attraction for economic immigrants or even refugees.

Although there are 30-40K Vietnamese, 50K Ukrainians and smaller numbers of others Warsaw is still far from being multicultural. Come to NY you'll see multiculturalism.

My daughters best friend is Vietnamese born in Poland. Is she Polish? Well the citizens here would say no- she has obvious physical features that don't allow her to truly assimilate. She was born here, speaks perfect Polish- she is not Polish.

Technically but not really.

Life / Racism and for what? (story of Egyptian guy's living in Poland) [149]

Poles are racist (not all but many).

I know an American from back in college who visited Russia, St.Petersburg, Novgorod, and Moscow she said people looked at their tour group like they wanted to kill them. Russians are much more homophobic then Poles.

hey, fine with me as long as we all keep in mind that there are people out there who feel differently and we have to learn to accept it.

People born here yes, and people who came when they were like 1 or 2 , usually. It all depends on how much you're changed since leaving your host nation. But people are different and react differently.

Harry

How many pints did you have tonight?

Is there any fear that this thread might swing around to the OP's post?

Life / Racism and for what? (story of Egyptian guy's living in Poland) [149]

good for you, one great American family :-)

Guesswho don't take it the wrong way this July 1st marked me being here 20 years so of course I also feel American. I'm both Polish and American but leaning more towards Polish since I'm from there and it was my first language.

just like anywhere else in the world too, right?

Yes true, that's more of a social and class thing than nationality related. if one notices stupid, ignorant people are the ones who are usually most prejudice hardly knowing anybody of the nationality they hate so much.

Fine be American but don't claim to be Polish and in the presence of Poles look like you don't want to be around them as if them not being American speaking another language is embarrassing you. Most my friends here are Polish, when we have parties other nationalities come there are Americans of different background, Arabs, Latinos, Russians, Ukrainians everyone gets along. But there are also some homophobic locals who look down on foreigners.

no, I can't because I've never heard of anything like that before. I believe that you are a little bit obsessed with us being such a bad people PB and at the same time, with you guys being the best people in the world, am I right?

Guesswho no one's obsessed with anything this is a discussion forum we speak about all things good and back. You live in the South how many of your neighbors are Polish of of Polish descent? 0? Come to Philadelphia, New York, Or Chicago live here for a while you'll see. I didn't say most, but I have met Polish-Americans who say around Poles yea I'm Polish, but when he's around his American friends he doesn't want to be around you it's like he's ashamed. It's like his family has been here for 1 or 2 generations and have just now (through lack of a connection with Poland, not keeping contact with family or linguistically deprived) have been able through Americans eyes be seen as the same as the rest of them and don't want to be associated with some immigrants for fear that the locals might see them like the immigrants are. I've been here long enough to read people well and how they are.
